Hospital psychiatrist here : I couldn’t do my job without my nurses! They’re so important and I’m always mindful to make sure they’re okay when they’ve had to deal with a particularly tough situation. Love my teams and here’s a note to all doctors out there : take care of your nursing team, you need them !

I am really happy to see this comment! It is really important for the team to respect each other. I’m sure those nurses are appreciative of you recognizing their effort. I’m heading to my nursing clinicals at an inpatient mental health facility today.
I’m an MA and I work with a great team of PCPs. It really is a healthy environment and it directly improves our patient’s care when all members of the team feel they are respected. Have a great day (:

So happy Ns John is out there entertaining us nurses with antedotes on our lives. We always joke at work that our lives is reality/comedy and someone needs to make a TV show of it. I laugh so much watching various episodes, bc it's so true.

Therapy is often not even remotely affordable to those who need it the most.

Yes and you need like… life skills to find a therapist who takes clients and is a good match and then make the appointments and go to them and hold yourself together after them.

As somebody with mental illness and has spent time in mental hospitals we need nurses who show support and don’t just shove pills down our throats and don’t want to be there, we need connection and we need therapy and counseling while we are in hospital as it’s scary and just makes us go even more insane.

FYI Bipolar Disorder (type I) the manic phase is not solely a high of euphoria. Rather it is a phase of high/hightened energy; anger, agitation, euphoria, inability to sleep, etc.
Mania being directly related to /described as a sense of euphoria is incorrect and can make it that much more difficult for those suffering from it to recognize their need for help.

Yes, for me hypomania can mean rapidly fluctuating emotions. I can become tearful at the slightest provocation and then euphoric the next second. Everything just feels super dramatic and my thoughts run through my head a mile a minute.

This was such a good podcast. I love listening to the way the human mind works. I wish I could have finished hearing Elise's stories but it was a little hard with all the questions that Nurse John was bombarding on her mid sentences. 😂😂😂
I hope she enjoyed being on the show like we did listening to her. ❤

When I went to nursing school I did clinicals in the same psych ward I ended going to years later when I lost everything and wanted to give up. Do not I repeat do not go there if you are not completely out of your mind. It is not help at all and they only give you a website to scroll through and look for Drs. I think if you dont have the will to live you won't have the will to look through a dating website of therapists. Aren't you supposed to go into the hospital to receive help not be asked by a dozen different people whats going on and being yelled at by the nurses when your going through a mental health crisis?!

I'm confused. I thought Nurse John lived in Montreal but then moved to L.A.
    Maybe L.A. was just temporary?

I feel that John could have given more space and time to talk for his guest. I wanted to hear more what Elise had to say but he kept interrupting her and the video i highly edited. So we end up with long monologues coming from John about what he thinks about psych nursing but he lets Elise have just one sentence lines in which is a shame. I feel that John wanted to talk about his own life and for Elise to confirm what he is saying. Almost as if he invited Elise there not to educate the wider audience and not to talk about her own life but instead to have a talk with a psych nurse to meet his own needs.

It is super icky and disrespectful to refer to patients with mental conditions as "insane". Your title is a reflection of how you view that population and is not a very good one. Not a single person is "insane" just because they have a mental disorder. As a medical professional, you should be more considerate and respectful of individuals with mental health disorders. You probably titled it that way on purpose because "rage bating" makes money but still is cringe and just plain wrong.

IF "NOT A SINGLE PERSON IS INSANE" THEN WHY DO JUDGES ACCEPT PLEAS OF "INSANITY?"

    • @Hxney733
      @Hxney733 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

I understand ur concern. I Interprete the title as a Overall saying. By that i think, It is as more relatable in modern society to relate to sth. of an above average /bizarre behavior and or even thinking Summed Up in the Word "insane" rather than "Not normal". Because what is so Said "normal" is wayyy more individual and generalized than saying concrete sth. OR smn. seems "insane" .( In that context) whoever U ASK will have their preferences and understanding to title whatever.

as someone who was in a psych ward for 1 week at 17, who has taken psych meds for 13 years, who has been in and out of counseling for over a decade, who has called people out for calling others "crazy" and who has been on the "meds are good for you" hype train, what you are saying is an outdated, virtue signaling way of stating your discomfort with the word. I identify as crazy. Insane in the membrane. A few fries short of a happy meal. and if this psych nurse calls herself insane, that is a-ok in my book.
