We're only seven episodes in and already the difference in the pulls between seasons is genuinely transformative. Congrats on your inaugural Progression draw.
I have to hand it to Gage for changing up the strategy- I think that's what won him the episode. Last season he would bang the same deck against the wall over and over and go on huge losing streaks, but I'm glad to see him think more about his deck building. This is starting to turn out to be a really exciting series. Usually I just keep it on in the background and only pay attention to highlights, but this time I sat and watched the whole thing itself beginning to end. Good games.
If I had a nickel for every Progression Series episodes where one player burned themselves to defeat, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot of money, but it's weird that it happened twice.
This is not how I ever would have expected an episode of the Progression Series to surpass the one hour mark. Goes to show how no matter how long you played this game you can always have something new happen.
I can be team gage, I can get sick pulls, good wheel spins, fight people in the comments, scream AGEH OF GAGEH from the rooftops; but that will never change that Gage consistently outplays himself.
Lol cimo revealing a burn card and being like "well now you know what I'm up to" and then gage just being like "nah no idea bro!" was the most gage moment I've seen this season
Dark Snake Syndrome is still one of the coolest YGO cards ever imo. It does lead to a lot of bullshit situations but i love how SUDDEN the threat of it really feels.
I know right. 1600... ehh, it's a bit of damage, but not crazy. 3200? Getting low, oh god, wait, next turn it's 64- annnnd tie. Really funny and cool card, just not that great in practice.
8:57 "Next, I activate the Spell Card Different Dimension Capsule. It allows me to pick any card in my deck. Then, I simply place it in the capsule, and in two turns I get to take it out and put it right in my hand." -Zane Truesdale (2004/2005) Also, Gage managed to pull Yasmin & Maiden of the Aqua! Impressive (then again, you did manage to pull both of them too, Alex. XD)!
I don’t think it mattered but Cimo missed a sangan search in game 2. This was a great episode though, I think the ban is CoH it’s the best card long term and will only get better as the series goes on. There’s also the dream that if Cimo goes back into Jinzo Gage can CoH Jinzo and then attack and sac him for megacyber/Sphinx and then Gage has the chance to reborn later. I think burn was a decent call but Cimo just lacked the floodgates to make it work. I think level limit is coming up soon and if Cimo gets that I think burn would be the best choice going forward. The opportunity for lava golem + Ring for 4K burn looks so juicy.
I think if Cimo wants to optimize this burn strategy, he needs to cut Dark Snake Syndrome. I think that card is a little too high risk, because as we saw it can easily force a draw.
One of the best episodes so far! Invasion of Chaos looms over the horizon, we're approaching the era of banishing a light and a dark. But Magician's Force is next, here's hoping Gage pulls Magical Merchant for real this time!

I have to ask, what inspired the idea to put a ban ticket (something meant to level the playing field and keep both players in check from power creep) on the winner's wheel with rewards a player for winning?
The loser also has access to banning. Banning is so powerful that winners and losers both need access to it otherwise the real strategy for the series would be to time your losses to keep your opponent off any good cards before the game even begins. Jinzo Mobius Cyber Dragon Stardust Dragon There's about 90-100 sets which could gain maybe 5 sets per calendar year. You're looking at 112 sets for Season 2 I think, divide 3 and it's 33+4. 37 cards to get banned if anytime a person loses they immediately commit to losing the next two at least to score a ban ticket. How many wins do you pick up over the course of the series if you permanently out a card like Dark Armed Dragon before it can affect the series but you're opponent pulls too many of it? The odds might seem strange but don't say it's impossible with the Secret Rare pulls Season 1 saw. It's safer to make sure that the Ban Ticket is a threat that can be immediately be responded to with a Ban Ticket. Banning a foil is harsh because you're banning a card that would have been a different hard to get card for your opponent's pulls. The affect on box pulls is much less noticeable for commons but your opponent is drawing dead at the pack opening when their cards get banned.
@@matthewferrantino9521 Winning is already way more insane than losing, why would they need to make it even more powerful? Not only do you get ban tickets, you have unban tickets, redoer tickets, snatch steal, high rarity wildcards. The only bad thing is if you get wild cards during gx era. Otherwise? Nah. like 80% chance per win to get something crazy. Meanwhile for losses you need to go onto an at minimum 3 loss spree, which means your opponent gets 3 spins of the wheel until then.
@@matthewferrantino9521 The only way in which losses can be stronger is if you go on like a 5+ loss streak, but in that case having a 10% chance to ban as winner does jack shit. I think all in all while I enjoy the crazier dynamics the new wheel and ban system cause, it's still wildly imbalanced, and basically causes you to *want* to go on really really long loss sprees once you're on one.
Man this takes me back, in the early 2000s I went to Epcot with my parents and bought a few assorted Japanese booster packs, and I had some insane pulls - Ultimate rare Lava Golem, Parallel rare Helpoemer, Secret rare Fushioh Richie (if I'm remembering rarities correctly) were the standouts. Sadly I stopped following both the YGO TCG and anime shortly thereafter so I never really bothered to find out what I actually pulled, and I've moved 4 times since then so I have no idea where they are now. But, it's really cool to see some of the cards I still recognize and finally learning what they do, like snake syndrome (used to great effect here lol), guardian sphinx, metamorphosis (which probably scarred me as a child), banner of courage (which I pulled too many of), and hieroglyph lithograph
Don’t even get me started on Epcot pulls, that Japanese shop sells the good stuff I swear, I pulled 2x qliphort tool back in 2015 from that shop in only a few packs
It’s not terrible but Gage needs a lot of high ATK Warriors to really capitalize on it. Spell-casters don’t get the ATK boost so the synergy is there but the strength is actually fairly minimal.
Glad Gage got rewarded for playing that beatdown strat. :) He could also be playing that Blast With Chain for some more battle tricks if he wanted, but I'm not sure on that one.
I think the argument for the ban here is Change of Heart vs. Monster Reborn. I'd say ban CoH because a) CoH will always be a blowout whereas Monster Reborn will eventually by more of an extender than a bomb and b) CoH just FEELS bad to have resolved on you.
CoH eventually becomes just a slightly better Mind Con, it could legitimately be unbanned at 1 right now, & after pre errata Brain Con releases that's such a similar card it barely matters, at least for a few episodes, & Monster Reborn is a Bomb for a while at this point
@@Marcusjnmc I wouldn't say pre-errata Brain Control is totally comparable to Change of Heart immediately. The fact that Change of Heart can take control of facedown monsters is a very big deal until probably the XYZ era.
Cimo got a cracked pull this time and double lava golem is going to be a lot of trouble for Gage down the line. And even when he loses he still got a win with that ban ticket.
I feel like you ban change over reborn because while their overall power is fairly similar now change becomes substantially better once extra deck shenanigans become a thing and even monarchs will make change way better than it is now
I think after what we saw out of it in this episode, the hit has to be Yata-Garasu. Especially with CED on the horizon. I know the actual Yata-Lock is difficult to pull off, Cimo needs to get that little bird out of here so Gage can’t even attempt it, because you know Gage is crazy enough to attempt it.
@@NickWuebker Yata can cheese things but it’s not actually that easy to get to work outside of CED set ups. Definitely less powerful than reborn and CoH, especially looking forward
@@Aaronrules380 There's a lot of good hits. CoH is good, Yata is never a bad idea, RoD even if it's a self-own is a VERY unhealthy card for the game in general, Swords always seems to be a thorn in Cimos side, and Reborn is always devastating. I wouldn't mind a gentleman's RoD ban though.
Somehow this series keeps getting better and better! The two play off each so well that it keeps me on the edge of my seat and makes it difficult to predict how things will play out.
Spoilers: Was really hoping for Gage to have Ring of Destruction for the Mystic Tomato to force another draw in Game 3. Would've been such a sick way to win the match.
This was a very fun episode. Cimo’s pulls were absolutely cracked and even when he wins Gage loses with Alex spinning the Ban Ticket. For what Cimo should ban, I think it should be Yata-Garasu. Cimo was able to play through a Pseudo Yata-Lock in this episode, but Yata just gets scarier with CED on the horizon. People talking about hitting Swords or Change, Cimo can shut those off with IO.
Yata could unironically come off the ban list and would accomplish absolutely nothing. It's not a good card. It denies your opponent a single card which both Don Zaloog and Spirit Reaper also do, although they are both better. Yata had one broken combo with CED and Sangan/Witch that won the game for free back in the day, but it would do absolutely nothing in modern format. Change of Heart is the obvious ban.
@@Prodigial It is pretty horrible, but the real question is: Why bother unbanning it? It does nothing for nobody and the only thing it would ever accomplish is bs. (Also don't forget it dodges a lot of removal because it bounces back to hand).
I remember a duel years ago where I activated Dark Snake Syndrome but on it’s fourth turn after activation my opponent summoned Prime Material Dragon then we both stalled out for at least 10 turns
Here are today’s illegal actions: 42:30 Mandatory Sangan search missed when it got destroyed by Cyber Jar Yes, they also resolved Cyber Jar’s effect incorrectly again, but I’m not mentioning it anymore because I end up having to type a long paragraph each time explaining how to resolve the card correctly lol. Plus I’ve already mentioned it at least 10+ times in these comments
I had to look it up. Post errata ring has 2 important changes. 1: You cannot destroy a monster with more atk than your opponent has lp. 2 (which is important here): New ring can only target opponents monsters. Old ring can also destroy the lava golem on gages side.
Proper use of Dark Snake Syndrome requires it to be paired with the likes of Dark Room of Nightmare and/or Barrel Behind the Door. Otherwise, the damage doubling each turn means potshots with Toll and Ominous Fortunetelling won't make enough of a difference to NOT result in a Draw.
An alert to Cimo, by the way, since he apparently missed it: He was talking about spell cards that pop your own, but there's actually a great one in 5DS called Double Cyclone. If he finds that card (or, copium, reads this message) his Mirage will be terrifying. Pop mirage, MST your opponent's set? Brilliant.
I really like that card. Briefly ran it in Cyberdarks to pop Cannon for the draw. The cost is virtually non-existent as well if you don't currently have Mirage and instead chain it to a normal spell when you activate it.
It would be interesting to see what (with a short explanation) each player is sidedecking inbetween the games. Side Deck is described during deck building but unfortunately not during it's actual use between the games. I will keep posting this comment under these videos - maybe that helps. ;)
I mean... you can see their decks during the games so you can easily figure out what they sided in/out, even if you cant figure it out they still talk about the side choices at the end so its not really needed, but I get your point.
I feel like that would be a hassle. They would either need to a) leave the call, Gage would need to start recording again or b) do it after the fact with guessing on Gage’s part
Yeah this would just totally break the flow of the games. I get what you're saying but from an editing and pacing perspective this should never and will never happen.
Cimo your deck this episode took me all the way back. Used to play a deck almost identical to the one you made very early on. :) You forgot the essential solemn wishes for that deck so you could control life point loss.
Prediction on the banning of one of Gage's cards: Monster Reborn or Change of Heart. No way Ring of Destruction and Premature Burial is going to get banned because both players have those cards.
@@xatuyou8045 I can see, but what I can also see is him getting the starlight ticket which would enable him to get any card from any sets. If he does land on that, I predict he'll go for Heavy storm or Jinzo.
Watching Gage draw 5 spell-traps from cyber jar and then calling monster on ominous fortune-telling really is a certified Cimo moment. Like once a game he does something that is simply too high IQ for my puny brain to comprehend
This was crazy. I saw the promo for this episode when Cimo said that this was a never before done action. I saw the Yata-lock, Dice jar was in this set, the fushiohe Riche summon, Lava golem, Ring for game, Gage has last turn. So many things it could have been, but a draw was not what I expected. Cimo also pulled godly on his pulls and the wheel, so burn is viable for him in the future, and even though he lost, it's ok. 1. Gage can't ban any of his cards. 2. Cimo gets to ban a card from Gage thanks to the ban ticket he spun on the wheel.
Ran a burn deck similar to what Cimo ran in this episode years ago. Throw in Stealth Bird, a Wave Motion Cannon or two, and a Magic Cylinder you're pretty much good to go. Nice to see the Ordeal Dark Door gate getting some love.
Ah ordeal of the traveler that takes me back to to my freshman year of high school when I used to use it to mess with my friends back in 2012 good times
how come when they spin a card from the last set they can add it to their collection before the episode starts, but when Cimo spun a ban it doesn't take place until AFTER the episode? when will the unbans and snatch steals apply?
...interesting question. I imagine Unban is also at the end of the episode ... but I'd have to rewatch episode 2 to doublecheck the timing for Snatch Steal.
@@williamcronshaw5262 I wasn't thinking about that specifically. Last season when they realized they could OTK with scientist it was in the middle of XYZ era and they summoned a bunch of fusion monsters, XYZ summoned and attacked for game.
@2:55 The other thing the Errata’d version did was make sure you had to lose LP for the Opponent to lose LP, so no more chaining Ring of Defense like Kaiba was able to do!
Hot take: Trap Dustshoot, Time Seal, and Return from the Different Dimension could all come to 1 in the TCG without being a problem. They (well...Time Seal could come to 3 because it's shit) can't come to above 1 unless we get rid of or limit Trap Trick. Normal Traps are just kind of crap in general unless they are specifically named either "Tri-Brigade Revolt" or "Infinite Impermanence" as far as the current list goes. Revolt is arguably better than Return...it's just semi-archetype locked. Dustshoot is only good if you go first, and only on your opponent's first turn. I would love to see Return...return as Chaos is in a poor-to-mediocre spot right now. There are other decks that could make use of it, don't get me wrong, but they could all use some help too...Crystron comes to mind, but there's also generic link with I:P and some other Synchro stuff like Synchron and Desert Locust-related shenanigans. It's a fun card...and it's a normal trap that is easy as hell to get around in most cases with the current game speed, but can absolutely be a one-card blowout...you know, just like every current archetype has with basically every card in their decks.
Well in this TCG meta traps are indeed a little shit, but it also depends on the format. In slower formats you can deffo get away with playing stupid good trap cards.

@@Prodigial It is pretty horrible, but the real question is: Why bother unbanning it? It does nothing for nobody and the only thing it would ever accomplish is bs. (Also don't forget it dodges a lot of removal because it bounces back to hand).
Yata doesn't do shit without CED so it makes no sense to hit that. Wait for CED to come out and hit that instead...
I love the art of Princess of Tsurugi. She should get a retrain.
I remember a duel years ago where I activated Dark Snake Syndrome but on it’s fourth turn after activation my opponent summoned Prime Material Dragon then we both stalled out for at least 10 turns
What a game. Wow, I liked last season, but so far, this feels so much better.
Here are today’s illegal actions:
42:30 Mandatory Sangan search missed when it got destroyed by Cyber Jar
Yes, they also resolved Cyber Jar’s effect incorrectly again, but I’m not mentioning it anymore because I end up having to type a long paragraph each time explaining how to resolve the card correctly lol. Plus I’ve already mentioned it at least 10+ times in these comments
The fairy box and book of moon interaction was also illegal right?
How are you supposed to do Cyber Jar, in a few sentences?
@@Boristien405 both mill at same time, turn player summons, other player summons
@@darkblade9924 you don't instantly enter Damage Step after 1 chain.
Also missed a giant germ activation at one point.
I had to look it up.
Post errata ring has 2 important changes.
1: You cannot destroy a monster with more atk than your opponent has lp.
2 (which is important here):
New ring can only target opponents monsters.
Old ring can also destroy the lava golem on gages side.
Why is it that everyone loves Moisture Creature?
It's because he's got the most drip.
My week doesn’t start till I see progression on Sunday
Where do i buy the however shirt
These last 2 episodes have been awesome, really good strategy switchup from Gage
This season is much improved from last season. Lots of decisions to be made with the new wheel
EMERGENCY PROVISIONS
@@DB-YGO That card sucks.
I like how in g4 after gage fired cold wave he immediately sets in mp2, then on the next turn cimo activates the effects of spell/traps
Cold wave still stops ominous and snake syndrome from firing
Tails never fails. 🙏
What a time to be alive ~ I'm loving the Age of Gage
It would be interesting to see what (with a short explanation) each player is sidedecking inbetween the games. Side Deck is described during deck building but unfortunately not during it's actual use between the games. I will keep posting this comment under these videos - maybe that helps. ;)
so cimo can talk for another 10 minutes straight and wasting our time? i'll pass on that homie.
I mean... you can see their decks during the games so you can easily figure out what they sided in/out, even if you cant figure it out they still talk about the side choices at the end so its not really needed, but I get your point.
55:25 Correction to Gage, this is NOT the first game 4 of the progression series. If you know you know
Well this is the first one on camera
i love how cimo is wearing the "HOWEVER" shirt LMAO
Cimo your deck this episode took me all the way back. Used to play a deck almost identical to the one you made very early on. :) You forgot the essential solemn wishes for that deck so you could control life point loss.
I was hoping Gage would draw into Ring of Destruction in that final turn of the tie game, would have been so clutch.
Round 3 could've gone differently if gage read his nightmare wheel and realized that it deals burn damage every turn as well.
Prediction on the banning of one of Gage's cards: Monster Reborn or Change of Heart. No way Ring of Destruction and Premature Burial is going to get banned because both players have those cards.
Watch gage get the unban ticket and bring back raigeki
@@xatuyou8045 I can see, but what I can also see is him getting the starlight ticket which would enable him to get any card from any sets. If he does land on that, I predict he'll go for Heavy storm or Jinzo.
@@xatuyou8045 They're doing side sets though so Cimo will have more shots at getting Raigeki. It could backfire.
I almost forgot about Confiscation and Yata-Garasu
Does anybody else get goosebumps at the intro to these videos? They are just so hype!
Prog season 2 is killing it! I love it. Keep up the awesome content gentleman
This makes my heart so happy!! What an episode!!
Watching Gage draw 5 spell-traps from cyber jar and then calling monster on ominous fortune-telling really is a certified Cimo moment. Like once a game he does something that is simply too high IQ for my puny brain to comprehend
Gage: Paper -- (3-4)
Cimo: Scissors -- (4-3)
**BING!** ✅
Cimoooooooo wins! Cimoooooooo takes the lead!
I’m keeping track of some fun stuff too we should team up
@@Erictime4fun Awesome sauce.
And what about the second rps? :)
Gage's scream when he activated Change Of Heart and saw it was Cyber Jar killed me lmao
I know this is kind of the minimum expected of people playing a game together but I can't help but like how you 2 want to stay honest with each other.
58:00 wouldn't cold wave prevent the activation of the 2 face up continuous cards?
When is the 1st reprint set? When was Dark Beginnings released? I honestly don't remember
There are quite a few sets left till we get to DB1. Soul of the Duelist should be the one before DB1
That was one of the sickest episodes of progression ever
With how many times cimo has banned a card we should get Cimo banisher of the light T shirts
Gage doent even need to talk about Shapesnatch cause we all know how broken it is
49:45 That scream! I'm wheezing xD
Conspiracy theory: Cimo threw to prevent a ban
Series is already shakeing up to be better. Awesome!
The last two episodes have been real bangers can't wait for next week's!
Does Cimoo have to use his ban ticket right away? Or can he save it to use in a future episode like the re-doer tickets?
"if that resolved." 38:52 I would have shredded that zombyra before he flipped it down after he let that coin flip go.
how come when they spin a card from the last set they can add it to their collection before the episode starts, but when Cimo spun a ban it doesn't take place until AFTER the episode? when will the unbans and snatch steals apply?
...interesting question. I imagine Unban is also at the end of the episode ... but I'd have to rewatch episode 2 to doublecheck the timing for Snatch Steal.
I hope Gage added that Karbonala Warrior to his collection. Might need that for Scientist OTK later down the line.
Do either of them have Catapult Turtle? The FTK that got Scientist banned doesn't work without it.
@@williamcronshaw5262 I wasn't thinking about that specifically. Last season when they realized they could OTK with scientist it was in the middle of XYZ era and they summoned a bunch of fusion monsters, XYZ summoned and attacked for game.
@@RyanRakowski Technically that's an OTK, not an FTK. There are actual FTKs with scientist as well I just don't think that they have the cards for it.
You guys should show your side deck choices and a brief reason why you chose those cards in between matches.
Great episode, love a game 4
@2:55
The other thing the Errata’d version did was make sure you had to lose LP for the Opponent to lose LP, so no more chaining Ring of Defense like Kaiba was able to do!
Wasent it The Chazz who chained rings when he was trying to get into north academy?
The should give the editor a raise lol. I feel like the production quality is a clear step higher than season 1
Finally a HOWEVER shirt!! Please sell this Cimooooo
Cimo really just said “fine, you want bans? I’ll take ALL THE BANS”
Them both talking about PacMan this season like MBTs series didn't actually teach them about it is hilarious to me lmao
Cimo “the editor is going to have to make a new card”
The editor “that’s what you think”
I have such fond memories of collecting Pharaonic Guardian as a kid.
13:53 yooo is that he who snatched the shapes?
38:26 wtf is gage doing?
Why flip his monster when he can just pop the reaper?
This week: Gageh and his goons beat Cimooo to death in Cimooo’s burning house.
"Heads (sometimes) shreds"
Cimo with the However shirt is so good. lol
