As a dog owner of herding dogs, I appreciate your attention to exercise, good high quality food and commitment to cleanliness. I know you made this a couple of years ago but I had to commend your efforts on raising happy and healthy dogs. I would love to ride on a dog sled!!
Thanks! This wasn't mine. But It was great. I built a new one this summer though, very inspired by this one. A bit smaller, and only using the best ideas from this yard :D
I'm very sorry you feel that way Stephanie. Owning, working on, or helping out a kennel with over fifty dogs is a lot of responsibility. And this video was made to showcase that. This was filmed in the middle of summer, on a day way to warming for exercising. Therefore I had to spend the entire day focusing on the not so sexy, but most important part of working with huskies. Helping out the owners who went away for their (very short) summer vacation. I spent the day: - Keeping them well fed, replace their straw (to make their beds softer - provide extra isolation). - Cleaning their waterbowls, swap water multiple times per day. - Feeding, keeping an eye on, cuddling, and clean up after the puppies. - Manicure and pedicure - Keeping the dogyard clean. Removing dogtrap, brushing away leaves, straw and dirt. - and more.. Spending a lot of time in the dogyard is vital for keeping a meaningful relationship with these dogs, and please keep in mind that this video only showcases 1/365 days in a year. --- And why do we do it? I think this video lacked a part where I explained that to a satisfying degree. Which is unfortunate. The content I have made where our love for working with sled-dogs this is the main subject are nowhere near as "popular" as this one. // Hope I answered your comment to a satisfying degree. PS: This kennel DOES NOT breed dogs for retail, medical experiments or such. These dogs are built to run, and that is what they do.
another one of these ive had alot of dogs most of them were on chains and in my experience chained dogs are better looked after than inside dogs cause there outside for a purpose

Yessir. These dogs are built to run, and that is what they do. Please keep in mind that this video only showcases 1/365 days in a year. This particular day was hot for our polar dogs. To warm for exercising - even to warm for play. Owning, working on, or helping out a kennel with over fifty dogs is a lot of responsibility. Far beyond the highlights you see when we mush into the sunset over the tundra, or let all de dogs play together. A lot of preparation, caretaking and time goes into those moments. Which might be why they are so special to us who decide to live a life with sled dogs. I made this video when I helped out taking care of these dogs, because the owners had to go away for a short period. It is meant to show you how working with sled-dogs is more work than the average person might think. How our number one priority is keeping these dogs healthy and happy and safe. Regardless of other circumstances, 365. Spending a lot of time in the dogyard is vital for keeping a meaningful relationship with these dogs. This part of keeping dogs healthy and fulfilled does not nearly get enough attention. The tasks as shown in the video always need to be done, and they need to be done properly. It is one of the most fundamental parts of being a dog owner. Building a great team of sled-dogs starts with healthy dogs in a safe enviroment. PS: These dogs are NOT bred for retail or medical experiments. As many people have suggested. These dogs get at minimum 10 hours of exercise. Every week.
Hi Rob! It sure takes a fair bit of logistics to make a dogyard with 50 dogs function well. I'm currently spending most of my time working with my two dogs at home, but I should make a video to show you how we give all the individuals the attention and conditioning they deserve
Lots of work! Do you ever let the dogs walk freely around the property? I spent a year filming every puppy I met in Amsterdam and found one almost every week. It's called '50 puppies in 2 minutes' 🙂
@@BrynjarSkartlandthat’s lovely you’re in my version of heaven . I live on a big property but not all tne dogs get along. My male dogs Boogie and Zeus do not like each other’s company. Hi, Hi Hi. I made a ton of videos during my one year break from High-School. After the break, I moved across the country to study sled dogs and work in a more nature-based environment. I did no longer have access to a trampoline, nor was I comfortable making videos as a first grader in a whole new area... After a short while, I grew out of my interest in trampoline and trampoline-vlogging. A transition I knew my demographic wouldn't follow. However, my passion for media-production, especially making youtube videos hasn't died. I tried making a couple videos during summer break (which I have now unlisted) that didn't really meet with the standards I set for myself. I am now working a bunch of videos and ideas I want to bring to life. They probably won't fit into the expectations of my previous audience, but that's a part of doing youtube. Trying out lots of stuff, until you find your own thing. Anyways, if you enjoyed this video, I recommend staying subscribed. There's definitely more where it came from. 2020
Mmmm 🤔 even though it easier to just pour out the kibbles on to the wooden planks....I think it might be a better idea to (build a small square 1x1x1 bowl) by using railing box for there food bowl. Maybe line the bottom with a 12"x12" square vinel leave in place! Well it's just a thought... 🤷♀️ Great job!!!!!😉
I think it's good for the dogs to spend some extra time having to sniff for the last pellets. Especially on days like these where it's to warm for other play/exercise. We do however use bowls a lot. Depending on what we feed (i.e soup) weather, and location. I think feeding in various ways keeps the dogs healthy and prepared for changes in their environment

In this case yes. The Mother didn't lactate enough to keep them all properly nutritioned so we had too. But for puppies growing as much as they do in that age we only use the top-shelf meat with all the vitamins etc they need 🥰
As soon as my puppies opened their eyes I introduced them to raw meat. Mostly ground beef, chicken and turkey. All 6 of my dogs eat raw but have access to a high quality kibble if they want a snack.
Yes, it's recommended to start pups on solid foods/meat from day 21. They have teeth and are very capable of eating a finer version of their dams diet. In Australia it is the law that pups must be offered solid foods from 3 weeks of age.
