This speaks to what a lot of martial artists find with different teachers, the best ones allow failure and encourage it with laughter and a playful perspective! It really helps students learn well, especially dealing with highly difficult social sports like jujitsu.
This is the shortest video I've watched recently on TH-cam, although the most useful one. Thanks a lot for what you are doing 💗. It's the most problematic part of my character, and sometimes I think I can't change it, since "everything or nothing" was my principle for so long.
This is not the first time you've started a video and I've thought, "Oh, I know about this." Then when you unpack the implications, I suddenly realize, "Oh, damn, I really need to learn this!" Thanks!
No wonder I like challenging myself, the joy is in the journey of course, in the learning, but pushing to see how far we can go also has a curious appeal. Good helpful advice to check in on ourselves from time to time, very valuable information thank you!
1:59: unfortunately, the world often judges us exactly this way. A person I know was recently fired from his job. He had done exemplary work for over a decade, with great annual reviews. Yet with a single mistake, his company fired him. Did not even give him a chance to correct the error, the blast radius of which affected only a few people and did not affect the company itself on a performance or financial level. So while indeed you should not be so inflexible with yourself, understand that the world is an unforgiving place.
@@Betwixt_App the second actually, when there is pressure to succeed and to be known about sth. I've read somewhere a quote that said "if the door you are knocking on doesn't open, then it's not your door". There is also a whole mentality on our purpose in life, like ikigai and plan de vida. What do you think about these?
@@chrisadimitriadouWell, re the door quote: I don’t think expecting all doors to open quickly would be a great way to live life. As adults, neuroplasticity only happens under particular circumstances, persistence through frustration being one of them. So, if we only ever knock once and then give up, what we actually train ourselves to do is give up. I’m not sure about the link to Ikigai. What’s your thinking? Do you see the idea of intrinsic purpose to contradict the mindset theory?
growth it's just mindset, doing small portion every day or every time u can, growth is not some static objective, it's not something that just happens or is achieved, it's action repeated until you realise this level is enough because previosly u had no idea or going level up is impossible
@@Betwixt_App I believe that in real life, and not in theory, it is not "overconfidence" if for example, you want to become a pianist and everyone around you recognises your music skills and supports you. The confidence comes from both your skills and work but also from those who create space and time for you to grow them. On the other hand, if your music skill is not encouraged, supported or been given the opportunity to present it to an audience and at the same time you need to make a living in order to survive, you cannot cling on to the "pianist" dream forever. So in order to get back to the video's subject, I think that the mindset theory is oversimplified and looks a lot like "black and white", bc between the "talent superiority" and the "effort marathon" there are a lot of elements in life that create our experience, and form our mindset and our ability to adapt in life.
Absolutely! I have heard stories of people who started with little or no knowledge but managed to emerge victorious thanks to Ana Graciela Blackwelder.
Yes!! Stop telling kids they’re aMaZiNg and just tell them you love them
Yes! Or praise the _effort_ they put in, kindness they show, their determination, etc…
Love your style
Thank you! 🤩

I’m so glad you doing this helpful! And I have been there. I know how hard it can seem to change this, but I also know you can do it! 🖤

I’m so glad I’m saying something useful/different (and also that you stuck with the vids long enough to find that out!) 🖤

Yes it's hard to be this way especially in the working world.
Love your app and your videos have good to the point information. Thanks !
Thank you! I’m so glad you are enjoying both things! 🖤
As a perfectionist musician I really needed to hear this!
Yes!! I have battled with perfectionism all my life. I know exactly what you mean 🖤
che, muy bueno.
Only non-serious people these days use that bastardized bit of jargon, "toxic".
What do you think it means to be a reflection of goodness in your day to day life....
I think I might need a little more context, please :-)
What if you don't have the privilege of waiting for growth to happen?
How do you mean? If there’s not enough time left in life, or if the change is urgent?
