I served with SFC Cashe at Fort Benning in A- 1/15 Infantry. I was in 2nd PLT and he was 3rd PLT Platoon Sergeant. I was floundering as a SSG. For whatever reason, call it Divine intervention, he took an interest in my military career. He gave me the best advice I ever received in the Army. I was probably destined to retire as an E-6 SSG, but after him and his advice I was promoted twice and ended up retiring as a 1SG. He made my career. So many people in this video that I knew. SSG Alexander, CSM McKenzie, etc. I am glad Joe Biden has finally done something right and awarded this Hero, father, Soldier, husband, and brother the MOH. It is well deserved. This video had me in tears remembering him and all the others that I knew who gave the ultimate sacrifice as a result of that night.
This is what kills me about all this racial tension in our country right now. This man loved his brothers next to him regardless of what they looked like, their political views etc. and he gave his life to protect them as they were his own blood. May you Rest In Peace Sergeant
Ive never met a young person who would have a problem working with the other race in our country, the media will misrepresent the "tension" there is and make it as sensational as they can
Sergeant Cashe gave me a chance when others would not. I'm proud to have served as his Bradley Gunner, even if it was only for a short while. Rest in peace Cat Daddy. I'll never forget you. Carpenter
SFC Cashe was a great Soldier. I’ve had to pleasure of meeting him at 11 mike mos training at Ft Benning, Ga. I followed his career path. Went to drill sergeant school and master gunner school like he did. He would always encourage me and push me. Knowing him and having the pleasure of serving with him In Korea was awesome. This man is the epitome of a Soldier. He is what right always looked liked. I am going to always remember his legacy.
Worked in a burn unit in San Antonio. I still have nightmares from all the screams and howling of grown men crying and yelling in pain because of our wound debirdement procedure in 98% humidity in temperatures in excess of 100 degrees so we can keep our patients warm. We would go through 5 bottles of Gatorade like it's nothing. I'm never, ever doing that shit again. I never met SFC Cashe, but may you RIP soldier. God speed and thank your damn fine service. Never leave a fallen comrade. Hooah.
I've read his story multiple times throughout the years from many different media outlets. I was astonished he never received a MOH for his actions. Seeing this made me happy. Well earned and well deserved. Much respect and an inspiration.
At the time staff sergeant cashe was one of my drill instructors at Fort Benning Georgia Sandhill A 2/54 January 3rd of 99 to April 24th 99 ... God bless you brother😊. I am in the picture they show of alpha 254 with cashe on the right
The word “hero” is said so much that often it looses it’s value, but this man was the walking definition of a hero. Wow, I wish I could have meet him before he passed. “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” Sleep in Power SFC Cashe.
SFC Cash is the epitome of #HEROISM. I am sending a BIG SALUTE to the men and women of the armed forces that love their comrades and the United States of America. I am honored to be a part of the SFC Alwyn Cashe legacy that continues to live on. Keep sharing HIS-Story. #DOL #NCO #RTLW #MOH #FOLLOWME
Rest in Peace Mr. Cashe! May the selfless Bravery exhibited weigh always upon command chains with discerning eyes forward and above to assure "from the top" is worthy of verified trust! Amen.
God bless him. Rest in peace Sgt. CASHE. Everyone involved are true heros. He is the true definition of a HERO. Thank you each and everyone for my freedom.
The words bravery and hero are thrown around so nonchalantly these days. Do I respect the cashiers, waiters nurses etc.? Hell yes. But when you see stories like this, it changes things. They don't happen often but when stories like this come around it kind of slaps you in the face and reminds what real bravery and heroes look like. Black, white, yellow, doesn't fucking matter. This man embodies everything America is truly about at her core.
Condolences to his family. Thank you for your service, Sgt Alwyn Cashe. Good men are hard to find. You dedicated your life and saved your brothers lives. Thanks to your brothers' services and all the military and veterans.
Interesting last year LT for the Steeler's Alejandro Villanueva chose to wear Alwyn Cashe on his helmet instead of a team chosen individual who had a suspect past. Villanueva did the right thing to honor a hero like Cashe.
If Villanueva hadn’t covered up the name of a drive-by-shooter later killed by police with Sgt Cashe’s name, I’d have never known about Alwyn Cashe, his courage and his sacrifice. If what Sgt Cashe did that fateful day _isn’t_ absolutely worthy of the Medal of Honor, then I truly don’t know what would be.
Omg never knew he was brought to my city wow love that because I appreciate his service ❤️ I'm from San Antonio sweet. Rip soldier 🪖 of love 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇨🇱🇨🇱🇨🇱🇨🇱🇨🇱🇨🇱🇨🇱🇨🇱🇨🇱🇨🇱💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇
Tomorrow, 05/30/2024 I will be at the dedication to 'Sgt Happy' as I always called him. Ft Benning is dedicating an entrance to Sand Hill to a TRULY Beautiful Human and one of America's finest.❤🇺🇸 My husband was in A/115 and deployed with this beautiful soul at the time.
15 years huh??? For saving 6 lives and being ordered to not try to save more!!!!! Six goddamn years to get a Medal that should’ve been waiting for him at his base camp!!!!
I’m sorry but you mean to tell me these Men go over to these places to fight for “Country”,see and go through this type of shit and can’t be taken care of for LIFE when they get discharged?? There should never be a such thing as a HOMELESS VETERAN!!!!! That’s my look on this!!!!!!

Not all heroes wear capes.
