Omg! Im stunned! Your orchies are UNREAL!! I'm going in to my third year growing and still haven't had too many bloom for me, so I'm dreaming of the day I have something just 1/10 this beautiful! Nice work!! GOALS
A silica nutrient application can significantly correct or manage a wide range of issues. From nutrient imbalances, low chlorophyll, helps with drought tolerance, makes the cell walls of the plant stronger and more rigid which makes plants much more resistant to sucking pests and fungus. The cheap stuff you just do a foliar once or twice a month because it's not transported well by roots and can leave buildup. The expensive monosilicic acid form works both ways and doesn't have a build up issue because it's not bound to a salt. The cheap form is usually around 10 dollars. chitosan oligosaccharide is systemic and also very good mixed in the water given to the roots it addresses most any infection issues viral bacterial fungal, it also improves nutrient utilization. Both of those can fix a wide range of issues easily when you just don't know why a plant isn't happy or looking 100%. Both are very effective and natural.
If you look @4:30 the bloom pics are shown at then bottom right of the screen. Also if you have Instagram there will be pics of it on my account @orchid_dee . Mine also doesn’t look like the pics online. It’s a pink/purple and confirmed cross (by Fame Orchids) with C. Labiata rubra
@@OrchieDee Thanks Dee, that is exactly what mine looks like. I was worried that i had bought a pup!!. It always has so many blooms. I might upload my pics to OrchidWiz.
Oh that’s good to know. Doesn’t look too much like a carnea lip but apparently one of the parents. Definitely a little fussier … but maybe just needs a couple more years to mature further
Lol...warning about using the Cattleya and Laelia interchangeably. 🤭 I do the same thing. Re your spiders, when we left our caravan parked up for a while we sprayed a surface spray around the contact points, kept it free of spiders and ants for 6 months with only the one application. Maybe going around the base and across the doorway might be enough to keep the majority out.
"I've got quite a few greenhouse spiders" so long as they aren't some of the more venomous critters you guys have down there.... On your tenebrosa x milleri, that is Cattleya/Laelia Zip, it is a really variable cross. Because the tenebrosa was a 4N, it made the tenebrosa more dominant, but it would still be a Zip. I wouldn't even bother trying to repot that big purpurata. I would just plop the whole thing in a larger pot with some loose media around it. Then in two years when your little one is older and you have more time, it will have grow away from the old pot and you can just cut the rhizome.
🙌🏼🙌🏼 I'm trying to figure out what this video is about so..... 😍 lovely hearing the background fun 😀 we are goung into single digits at night,... this is beautiful to see 😊 would you be interested to join in on any of the CareCollabs? I am currently coordinating a slipper orchid General care. If you would like to join in, would you email me? Dont want to leave my email here, but... it would be nice if you would like to join us 🥰 if not, hakuna matata .. love you still 🥰 i embrace my spiders. My tip: if you can handle seeing them around innoccasions, and if they are not poisonous... leave them be ❤
The main issue is not the spiders but the webs - they are everywhere and stop me from moving orchids - and they ruin the buds :'(. I've been wondering what the care collabs are about! I've been a bit out of the loop. We can probably touch base via instagram messages (though I'm much better at checking facebook messages). Let's contact each other on IG and go from there :) .
Spiders build their webs anew every night, I believe. Not to worry. They do a fantastic job of ridding your plants of unwanted pests and rarely pose any real danger to humans.

Such nice plants!
Nice to see that you’re all set up ready to go your plants and flowers are beautiful
Beautiful blooms. I can almost smell them.

Hello! Very beautiful purpurata! Congrats with so many blooms! Happy growing and thanks for sharing!
Glad to see your new setup, loving all the beautiful blooms!
Good stuff! Looks great! Purpurata has one of my favorite orchid scents too. Smells like fruit loops to my nose lol
Wonderful display, on both of them! Love it!
Where did you get that Cattleya Zip? It’s such a beautiful plant. You said that the tenebrosa was a 4n and was crossed with a regular milleri
I haven’t had good luck with them. I don’t know why. My solution to that was stock up a lot and maybe a few would make it. 😝
I lost at least 2 or 3 in my early days. Aggressive repotting, scale ...
What a GREAT video I loved it… just like you said I also tend to pot on my orchids and disturb the roots as less as possible.
Can’t wait to see another orchies in bloom video! I also love the shade house. Wish I could have one!
I’ve got looooots of blooms emerging/ about to emerge in the next week so hopefully get to film one before the end of this month!
Stunning ...
Just gorgeous orchids!
I have a C.Bella but its bloom does not look like the photo in OrchidWiz. Could you post a pic of your Bella bloom please?

My purpurata carnea is also a bit more difficult to bloom than my regular purpurata.

Those flowers are wonderful! You’ve inspired me to buy a plant, Purpurata flamea . How do you think it will go on my Sydney S.E. facing balcony?
Sounds like a great spot for it! It will love that morning Sun :)
Hi Diana, welcome back! Your l.purpurata has done wonderfully! Did it grow all those new growth in last season?
Yes 5 new growth in 3 directions this season!

Really good idea! Yes I’ll probably do that to stop the new growth growing awkwardly down the outside of the pot
