In 1975 when I was 20 I bought my Green 1965 GTO 389 4spd. I named it Green Onions because this song is so cool. I still own the GTO today and hopefully until the day i die.
You have impeccable taste in cars
THAT IS AWESOME!
Gass tires oil. Bet you went through a lot
I'd want to be buried in the car. Pointed west. ❤❤
I'm going to Google how much it's worth
One of the most influential and best instrumental songs ever!
So right... and I wonder why nothing after it could better it..
And to think of, it was originally just a warm up jam... genius strucks sometimes ;)
Just like the good old days
Killer bass!
Yes indeed definitely a cool Ole school gem.
Just yum…
This song represents everything cool about cruising on a warm summer night. I don’t care what your taste is..from the kids in their drift cars to the old schoolers in the hot rods…this song should be on your playlist. ✌️
I completely agree bro it’s a timeless kind of carefree cool that never goes out of style 😎
👍You are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! This song has been on my list for a LONG time.🏁
Another brilliant mod anthem from the 60s long live mods ❤❤❤🎉🤩😊😎🤗
Another great highway song is BIG LOG by Robert Plant.
And the mafia bosses in their American land yachts!
You've got to unearth a song like this from time to time to keep in mind what music is about.
My son played keyboard on this for his Middle School Jazz Band in 2007 for the State Competition. They nailed it and got a standing ovation. ❤️
👌
I had no idea people disliked warped records so much! If it plays without skips, it works for me. A little warp ain't hurtin the sound on this video
Ain't that the truth!
Speaking Facts!
Enchanses it really 😁
Where are the pops and crackles then?
Hate them!
That bass just holds it all together.
Back in college, we had a 4 peice rock band (the video game) set up. I always played bass, easy or med difficulty.
My friends always joked why you plying on easy. Reason I play on easy, i dont like missing notes and because when your in your groove in bass, you can pull the whole band together.
Id just tell them listen for the bass transitions. And because I was hardly ever missing notes, we almost always got back in groove with each other, not matter how sloppy we got.
Agree!!!!! Love, Love the bass line and the enitre song. One of the best instrumentals of all time - back in the day and to this day!!! 2022. Never grows old.
@@TheDonnalovesmusic always wished jim would hop on this beat. Obviously hes been gone for too long but when i first herd this and jim back when i was young id always wish he got creative with this
@@Bryanseas Have no idea what you mean. I am not a musician - just a music lover. Especially what I call the "real" oldies from my youth. To me, the studio version we all know is perfect!
@@donnast.joseph5158 jim morrison i always wanted him on this beat
This reminds me of when I was 16 years old and I had my first car a 1955 ford. I remember having girlfriends going to the drive-in movies and riding around listening to krla, Los Angeles
Myself and future family had this playing in 71 whilst touring France and Italy. Now in my 70,s and still groove to the sound...Green Onions for ever
You got that right, right along with you
One of the grooviest grooves ever!
THE groove ;) nothing beats it
It's very groovy !
Now this is music.

So do I....sodoi sodoi....
Now, this is how music should be !!
Always loved this song
Dance with my daddy to this

Its a song now is it
I wish Randy Rhoades could have played guitar on this tune. Love it!
This was so ahead of its time. Sounds like something from ‘71 but it’s from ‘62.
Eh I see what you are getting at with the sound but I disagree in the sense that this to me sounds very early 60’s (actually thought it was from the late 50s before learning year it was made.)
Best instrumental ever!
Booker T Jones was an absolutely outstanding songwriter.
I like him for this song
I used to roller skate to this song in 1960s. Love it. I was 13, 14, 15 and 16.
Sound of the 60s
Always loved how it seems like they're riding the faders on Steve's solo in real time-maybe even tweaking his reverb, too. Add the clipping on the drum track, and Booker's deep lush organ and you've got something really special.
My Late Mother had this on record when I was a child.. just heard it on American Graffiti, made me come searching for it ❤
I remember as a 10 years old black kid hearing a young Paul Jones talking about those 4 guys from Memphis making that kind of music together two blacks and 2 white guy playing the green onions, 1966 I was 9 or 10 years old.
Cebollas verdes , mi viejo me dejó el legado de su música 🎶
The best driving song there is.
I’ve legit been looking for this song for about 4 years 😭 thank God I finally found this masterpiece
This is such a good song to skate and climb hills to!
Absolute masterpiece of a track and the warping reminds me of my old days skating in the sunset and jamming down hills Its nostalgic and a classic thank you for this
I bought the 45 of this song in the late 60's, still love it..and organ music.
this song used to be the song that my 1st grade teacher turned on when we were cleaning up the classroom
skate 1 ost is kicking in

This song make my childhood awesome
When I hear this song it reminds me of the sandlot 😂

I used to play Skate for The Xbox 360 and this song has been ingrained into my brain and I haven’t forgotten about it.
Same here, who didn’t play it same with skate 2 and 3
Oh, I feel different learning this from it being a song I learnt in my guitar program. 🥶
My favorite of all time.
Very, very sixties. Love it!!!
Amazing Young people of today don’t have a clue how it feels to dance to this smooth classic music 👍💞💞
Ok Boomer
~~ It's mashed potato time , baby !
You are absolutely right
Uh huh 🙄
It's very foolish to describe "young people of today" with such a "one size fits" all blanket statement. Much like it would be foolish attempting to describe YOUR generation with a one size fits all blanket statement 🤦♂️
@@elmoredneal5382 Well let’s say the majority of young people fit in this category it’s a FACT not a myth like your trying to project 🤷🏻♀️arguing over this is for 🤡
Real music!!
Never tire of listening to this!
It's on my fav list
love that the record is warped and you still used it
word, right? -shows how dope listening to (and watching) a vinyl record is
Real vinyl bounces
That stylus takes care of everything...
It has weight to it, though we used to attach a nickel to our non-weighted ones sometimes. If you left your record in the back yard after playing Frisbee with it, on a 100°... well nothing's gonna overcome that. 🤭
@@youresoakinginit2113 your station must've had a bigger budget than mine, we had pennies!
*_"We'll be right back after this commercial break while we pay the bills & I put another fang in the tonearm cobra"_* 😁
Comparing the sound of this to all other sounds of the exact song, this here is by far the clearest 👌
I love this soo much-my mother have played this so often-❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎶🎶
First heard it in GTA:SA on Master Sounds, i love this song!
My grandma's jam!!
Божественный трек!!!!!
I use to roller skate to this song when I was a teenager. Still love it.
Used to do the same in spring hill roller rink Birmingham
Groovy classic.
One of the very best from that era when I grew up. I really miss this wonderful style of music...
Playing Skate on the xbox 360 and hearing this bop is nostalgic af.
Really only new this song from American Graffiti, but of course then not in its entirety. Thank you Rhino!
I love the instruments and the beginning of the song

whoo the memories this song brings back. Cruising down the road with my girl friend!
I agree, Road trip, im 6 years and had to listen to same record 1800 miles. Dad said to me, years later. Driver has choice on Music. I just wanted him to play. something else. I, said, "can you at least turn it over, so we can hear the side"
Cont'd: I thought he was pull car over give mea whipping. I couldn't believe it. Mom wasn't saying much, but I was, entering Danger Zone.... practically called Dad a fibber. I didnt say anything else about the Green Onions, besides, who singing, can we stop to get another record.. this share, I cant believe that I remember. Lazy sister, asleep, Mom is pregnant, and don't tell. We arrived, Dad slapped me so hard. No Green Onions, instrumental both side, going home. my favorite riders, old skool Brothers Johnson and Lenny Kravitz...I may over shared. Thanks for memories...
Your killin me smalls!
Steve Cropper, what a genius!
My dad was a session musician at STAXX & was there when they recorded! It got its name cuz the producer said it was the worst thing he ever heard, & it stank like green onions❤😂
Clásico.
Y sigue sonando en 2023 ❤️🎵
Cool coolness absolutely personified. Fabulous fab track. So cool.
The ultimate drag racing tune
Some black guys and some white guys got together and made THIS. Truly awesome.

Happy Birthday to Booker T Jones Blessings and Hugs 💜💜💜💜
Pase años buscando el nombre de esta melodía. Simplemente fabulosa, la escuche por primera vez en la película de THE SANDLOT (Nuestra Pandilla). Recuerdo mi niñez.

A truelly great Instrumental group of the '60's.
Booker T & the Mg's
That was enjoyable 😊 🔁
When I was a kid and this song came on my dad would be driving and he would go immediately to the dashboard to play dash piano..one of the best memories of my life...
After hearing this song for over 40 years, it was today on Thur. May 4th 2023 is that i found out the the name of this song.
I hated this song.. everytime this(still calling it), song.. I was 6yrs, my dad and I were at each other throats, no response. Turn over side B, hear that song. I was in College when I learnt the name.. I got my hands on that 45 disc.. Later in years family talking.. I told if its a secret, keep it to YOURSELF, everyone laughed. confirmed, I know everyone secret. Dad ask me if I had any secrets, YOURS X5, no more laughing.. Dad its not a secret if I tell you.. Dad says "I have a secret to share'. I looked at him, same way he did to me. Excuse me, ill be back. Didnt want or have any parts of his secret, that would hurt our family... 30 minutes later. Dad says," I just about to kick the bathroom door open, nobody else cared". Always listen, dont want to repeat myself.. I, flipped told everyone's most recent secret, except parents.. My parents, were shocked, and I was laughing singing hop scotch playground tag tunes, was leaving. Dad says, 'I got to tell my secret'. Dad was pissing me off. I was daddy's little girl, car keys, ride. Sly, Family Stone.. Dads, secret, "I love you, taught all the knowledge I have we share, I love having you at my side any and everytime. You, listen, 20yrs ago, Sister, was shotgun Mom was pregnant, and you did nothing, sleep...I, said I didnt have any other records, but the GREEN ONION, just awhile longer, and I watched you knowing where ever we go, see, listen and what's your name .. Dad, said Im sorry I slapped you. I was tired from all the driving. I seen you sneak around the car, smart to dispose of the evidence in different places Your brothers and sisters will not be asking for $$,, anymore," My parents held hands and expressed their LOVE for me, and retirement and relocation..
Always loved this song !
It's good music.
A classy song
Smooth jazz has and always will be my favorite
Loved this song.
Who remembers skate 3?
I remember this song being on the sandlot lol. And its a sample of that girl from maxi priest and shaggy. Good tune.
May 2023 still jamming
My parents had this album. Brings back good memories.
Love this song!!
stumbled across this playing NS (nothern soul) sounds..its totally on my playlist now
I looked and thought that I would love to have a turntable like that. Then realised that my old vinyl would wreck it. Then I see the vinyl that's played. Now I have a shot and so does my old vinyl too.
green on yes we lov dis dish
Takes me back...
The drag racing scene in American Grafitti was the first time I heard this and got hooked by it.
That's great, it's so warped but sounds really really good. Classic, enjoying it. Thank you
It's a digital file playing, not the LP. Note can't hear the needle drop. Am I the dumb one for being the only one saying this?
😹 *You don't have to worry about the shape of the record until you have to tape pennies to the tonearm to hold it on the vinyl!* 😉

😂...yep ..i play it again...n.. again 😼
So love this song groooovy
Cebollitas verdes, gran cancion

Never out off style. I learned about this song from a pretty good band which covers it all the time. It's just awesome.
This is the quintessential Rock and roll song . . . The chords say it all !!!
