I with my father Heimo Lampi gathered the team which found this unique plane after 4 years hard work. We had asked help from Finnish authorities not getting it. US Navy co-operated with us until the moment when the plane was found and raised. Then a criminal group took it from us using methods like corruption, threating, false documents (they are in Finnish National Archives in Helsinki). US Navy ignored us and our work totally and started to co-operate with these criminals, so did our assistant Gary Villiard. Any person who understands law, understands also, that with the papers US Navy has, it cannot own it. So they hide it here in Finland to avoid media publicity.
I like it, that they didn´t restored it to a "new" aircraft and one is able to see the history. Many restoration projects are making the fault to over-restore the planes and are destroying the historical substance and traces of history with that. Especially those projects, that are restore such completely destroyed wrecks to flying condition again are terrible in my opinion, because all that is left of the real historical substance afterwords is mostly a factory sign and parts of the motor.
Can anyone tell me the current status of this aircraft. Will BW-372 stay in Finland or be moved to the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola Florida. I myself have mixed feelings about the situation.
That's our brewster!!! I understant americans if they want's to have this brewster because it was the us.navy's first "lower level wniged" aircraft and they sponsored us to find it....But this plane modell never succeed in us navy and it was retired early. In Finland buffalo was exellent for example captain Hans Wind got 39 kills with brewster and Ilmari Juutilainen had 36 kills...So that plane can allmost be a symbol of our counrty's nationhood with messerschmitt!!! and im not joking!!!

that is indeed true; the only real problem for maintenance crews was the great number of different types being used.
