Reading the comments. You guys are correct. This little girl. Or what was a little girl at the time of this filming was a knockout act. She stepped right into the shoes of her character. Lovely job young woman. Also shout out to the 1990's. I've shoot my pinky toe off to go back to that decade.
Such a great Actress this little girl is, who here is an 80's Gen-X Baby, I miss The 80's & I wish I can rewind time, such nostalgia looking at everything & of how we all were then woth different (cars, clothes, music, food, school & family, friends, parties, family reunions, & neighbors we all lived in no matter what states we all lived in). Also Domestic Violence is a serious issue & I am praying for all Women & there are Men who are abused by women too & yes women beat men as well, it goes both ways, but it don't make it Right at all, but I want all of you to know, GOD IS WATCHING, Much love to all of you & be safe, its Oct of '2024 & I pray that everything gets better for '2025 comes in a couple of weeks, Hello from South Carolina.❤️💯🌺🔥
I’m in Scotland 🏴 I’ve always wanted to go to Carolina we attended a church in England many years ago and the pastor and his wife came from Carolina two of the nicest people I ever met I miss the 80s and 90s
I was in foster care as well and I know how it felt to be housed but not cared about and loved and to wonder where you would be living, with whom, and where you were going to go to school. I love the teacher and her husband who loved her without question and the foster mom who knew how she felt and comforted her. They were good examples of the people children need in this world.
So enjoyed this movie. What a beautiful spirit in Ellen, despite her unforgiving circumstances she kept hope, stayed kind and lov!ng when she as every reason to be bitter and hateful. If only all family lottery looserss could be fortunate enough to be gifted with such fortitude.

Omg the way I grew up and seeing this movie just brought back some terrible memories for me my mom wasn’t dead when I was a child but she mine as well been because she never took care of me and my father was an abusive womanizing drunk and because of that although my grandmother raised me the majority of my family were just like this they would say mean and nasty things to me just because they knew they could and no one would care or protect me it’s the reason why I’m so over protective of my children because family members thought they could treat my children like I was treated but they learned real quick that’s not going to happen. Til this day I’m still a traumatized child on the inside just wanting to be loved and respected as a person like everyone else
So sad to hear your upbringing, it does leave you traumatised and wondering " If it was your fault? but NO way was it . some people just do not deserve children , they need locking up. have you had counselling for this my lovely? so glad you are great to to your children and showed them who was boss, and no way was your little ones going to be treated like you were .you stand your ground my lovely , and I hope you get the help and love you so rightfully deserve ❤🩹xx
@@rosiew1952 Thank You for your kind words of encouragement because now I’m made to feel like I’m just crazy and overprotective when none of my family members grew up or dealt with the things I did it’s so frustrating but I work hard to keep myself mentally healthy for my children
Jena was one of the best young female actors for awhile, much better than some who seemed to get the plum roles. I wonder why she did not become a huge star.
Seriously I was raised by my grandmother and lived with my great grandmothers when I was young and they all were so sweet to me I couldn’t imagine dealing with a women like her
I thought she looked so familiar...Didn't she also acted as the young girl character in Deep Impact movie, where the adult version was played by Jodie Foster?
Thanx groovy golden oldies for uploading this movie.M going to subscribe you after watching this movie. You have a classy good taste my dear.Lots of love❤
This little girl I believe played in another movie called Bones and Jennifer Jason Leigh played her mama and if I remember correctly Bones was her nickname and her daddy was an abuser in that movie as well. It may still be on TH-cam.
She was in " lovely bones " I think but her dad was ok. She was murdered by a creepy old neighbour who lured her into his underground fort designed to entrap a trusting young female. Total psycho creep. Told in the first person after she passed on.
I was wrong, just looked it up and it was a completely different actress, but she sure looks like Jena. A good movie however haunting it was so well done A nostalgic era for me, set in the fabulous '70's. Such an accuratel depiction in every detail, which is always a fun trip if you grew up in the '60's and'70's like me.
O my God 😢😢😢😢😢😢What a touchy story.O God I couldn't stop my tears.I was in tears throughout the movie and still M in grief for the pretty little girl😢😢😢.Ohhh destiny
Very poignant and wonderful film. I did kind of hope that the grandmother would take a liking to her in the end but she passed anyways. Happy ending despite what she went through. Her dream of finding a new mama came true.
Ellen's family was just unbearably awful, I felt so terrible for her. The grandmother should have just put her up for adoption in the first place that miserable old witch. Love Jena Malone. She's always good.
This movie had so many scenes which made me cry..btw isn't she the same little girl who acted.as the child artist in "Matilda"? Atleast she looks close to her..❤
Great portrayal of egregious family abuse. Sure wish foster parents were all like the woman portrayed in this movie. They are not. Anyway, thanks for the upload. Definetly woryh watching. High school or even middle school social science class.

This looks more like the 60’s 👍🏻
@gayleb9656 it was based off the 60', but the movie was recorded, filmed in 1997
Wow what a mother! She is amazing putting her daughter before herself that is what a real mother should do❤
This movie hits so close to home for me. But God created us all for a reason.
And if you haven’t found it keep searching He will eventually show you ❤

Beautiful movie and heart wrenching for little Ellen.

@@Jackie-rc6cj That’s a fact some people shouldn’t be allowed to procreate especially when they don’t have their shyt together
Such a great movie 🍿
The little girl did an amazing job with the role.
Jena was one of the best young female actors for awhile, much better than some who seemed to get the plum roles. I wonder why she did not become a huge star.
She didn't make it huge because she didn't sell her soul😮
Exactly 💯 @@jaydog09011
@@jaydog09011 I had not thought of that, I hope that is so. So many young girls totally get ruined in exchange for fame and money.
I have to admit I cannot stand her. Does not elicit any sympathy at all with her sour demeanour
Now we know what it takes to be a big star, probably she had good parenting
Damn! Who's peeling onions😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
This lady is so iconic she embodies every role she plays even as a child
Lovely movie,oh how time has changed
Oh grandma is a mean one .I know it's just a movie but that poor little girl how sad 😢
Seriously I was raised by my grandmother and lived with my great grandmothers when I was young and they all were so sweet to me I couldn’t imagine dealing with a women like her
The little girl is a great actress too. I saw her in a couple of drama movies. 😊🎉
Jena Malone 💗
I thought she looked so familiar...Didn't she also acted as the young girl character in Deep Impact movie, where the adult version was played by Jodie Foster?
She's in, "Bastard out of Carolina". It's a great movie.

Soon as I seen Ellens father, I knew his face &that voice , he played a bad man in Silence Of The Lambs .
I just wish all people where colourblind
Very good movie. Julie Harris is an extraordinary wonderful actress. She is a legend 😊🎉
She is indeed. Julie Harris had a long and storied career.
This little girl I believe played in another movie called Bones and Jennifer Jason Leigh played her mama and if I remember correctly Bones was her nickname and her daddy was an abuser in that movie as well. It may still be on TH-cam.
I think the movie was called bastard out of carolina

It was the movie based on the book "The Lovely Bones" and it was the creep neighbor that killed her
Yes, Ellen is played by Jena Malone who played Bone in the film ‘Bastard out of Carolina’ :)
Bless this little girl and all the abused kids. 🙏
Heartwrenching..she went through so much
This is a great movie.
This movie was so sweet. Did not expect the ending to end the way it did, but a good upload.

No she’s played by Jena Malone, but they looked pretty similar :)
Good movie
i had aunt died of that she was young
SUPERB 👍🍿👍🍿👍🍿👍
so beautiful
I agree totally at what the Grandmother screamed at the father at the funeral, word for word. What a narcissistic child abusing demon the father was.
Great portrayal of egregious family abuse. Sure wish foster parents were all like the woman portrayed in this movie. They are not. Anyway, thanks for the upload. Definetly woryh watching. High school or even middle school social science class.
They put Ellen right in that room of all those memories.
Good movie 🍿🍿🎥🍿🍿🎥
this was my father
Great movie
Look she is getting love
Isn't the teachers husband. From the serie raising hope hope's grandpa
Why did they make her go with her that is not stable for her at all that lady is cruel
Beautiful and poignant film.
Sometimes I think the day God gave my parents three kids to abuse and screw up, He wasn't thinking straight, either.
her own family do not care these good people help her how sad paying for mother she marry a man no good
I’m sorry but why she always gotta bite her lip bruh
Por que no se va con su madre.
I think its Emma Watson - Harry Potter 😃
No, I don’t think Emma Watson was born when this movie first aired.
She is Jenna Malone.
Great movie
