I grew up watching, listening and admiring Pastor Lenora Young. She used to come to Pittsburgh with Bishop R. T. Jones and was our Jurisdictional Minister of Music. I used to sit by the organ and marvel at her style, chords and her precise phrasing. As I watch this video, I see how much of an influence she was in my musicianship and life. This is the first time I've seen her or heard her play in over 20 years and I am GLAD that I stumbled upon this video. God Bless! Rodney McBride
I absolutely love hymns, they sound so resolute, with a majesty that evokes the presence of His Majesty the King Jesus, after all it is His church (not the building) but His people He died for. Don't you want His presence? It is so sad that many hearts do not desire His majestic presence. What a great organist!
The light of His presence reveals our faults and puts us in the position to repent and thus brought to the next level of His glory....."from glory to glory". Too many Christians avoid this because it is scary, but, you know, when you surrender to Him there is no fear at all!
There is no doubt that Pastor Young is not just an annointed singer but one of America's greatest organist. I've had the priveledge of watching her grow into a beautiful and dynamic preacher.. I'm proud to call her my sister. Thanks for posting this footage. Linwood Heath
Thank you for posting this. We still play and sing these hymns in our church in SW Indiana. Great is Thy Faithfulness is one of my favorites as well as It is Well with My Soul. Beautifully played from the heart, Pastor Lenora. I could listen to you play all day. Our world needs more of this, wish all our younger generation could hear this. You are a blessing to us all.
We sang Great Is Thy Faithfulness at both my parents' funerals. (My father was a Southern Baptist minister.) Since I live in Philadelphia, I will try to visit your church at some point. I am one of the pastors of St. Mary of Grace Independent Catholic Church, which meets in Media on Sunday evenings.
This is just beautiful! "It Is Well" and "Great Is Thy Faithfulness" are two of my absolute favorite hymns. Keep blessing the world with your ministry. God Bless you!!!!!!
I am truly lost for words that was wonderful I especially liked the last one she played. It's becoming rare and hard to come by gospel like this.i can even tell when shes going to end it LOL. thank you pastor young for keeping the great gospel pastime alive
So you're the one person out of 80 that disliked a beautiful hymn?!? I am a 16 year old gospel musician and have much respect for these songs because gospel music started with these hymns. I am sorry that this beautiful music is to boring compared to the hip hop gospel we have today. Smh
I absolutely loved it Pastor Lenora!! Lets me kno that I'm not the only musician left that can play hymns without people having to guess what the song is!! If u ask some of these "new age" musicians to play these selections they wouldn't know where to start!! Thank u for this!!! Now, when can I start my lessons?!
Sounds excellent! Your drawbar settings give the Hammond a Pipe Organ sound...then when you switch the Leslie to tremolo the true Hammond comes out...grand.
I notice through the negative comments there's always gonna be haters I'm a organist myself but I don't get jealous because I'm not a professional I'll get there but if you don't have anything good to say don't say it. One of the negative comments I see is a gospel organist. God Bless
David, I was also raised that way, from a very early age My Sister and I were taught that if You don't have anything good to say DON'T. However We were also told that if You appreciate something or someone , that You should say so ! You may not ever have the chance to do it later. I really enjoyed this post Thanks to the poster beautiful job. Kevin
That’s a real thing though. White people tend to clap on the “down beat”, black people clap on the “off beat”. That’s why it seems like white people have no rhythm, yet they’re so consistent with it.
MrTheOneAndOnly83 There's been plenty of times when we mess up as musicians but we bounce back and recover that makes a musician great when you learn from your mistakes and perfect what you know.
if you say you fell asleep then you clearly know nothing of structure and discipline. This lady will probably play most under the table but not right now because you tricky organ players are clearly not her audience.
I love pastor Lenora young I would love to meet and greet her at my church someday
It is well w/ my soul! Sounds AWESOME!

What a wonderfully played medley. I especially like the way she jazzed up "Joy to the World".

When I mess up I try to work it into the song...haha, sometimes it works, sometime not. 😁
Is it me or did she just play Christmas music and put some flair in it to make it a hymn?!?!
Delmonte crawford Yes she did. But she played the heck out of that organ, though 😊
No she played two hymns and that's just how she has the drawbars
Id be on the back row knocked out...😔😳
She playing it like a pipe organ LOL
