I'm watching the 2023 Kenshin series now! It's closer to the manga than the 90s series. I do love the original series up to the Makoto Shishio Arc then they took a different turn after that.
I'm watching it too but I don't think it's closer to the manga than the 90's one. In the very first episode there were more than half a dozen key variations that didn't fit well with the new narrative and were changed from the manga. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying it's bad for the sake of arguing. Also I understand sometimes a new Director will change some aspects compared to the older version due to change in personal vision. I feel like these changes were made to make it more friendly towards the new audience. If you wish me to elaborate what they changed in episode 1 itself that felt unnecessary, but also somewhat incoherent, let me know I'll point them out.
@@NamazuRyuSaiken Also I just want to say I liked your narrative on this video. I don't own a bokken, shinai or shinken yet, hopefully someday. I have come to respect the discipline and form (kata) the most in this regard. Not merely the action and thrill associated with this culture. You did a very good work on this arrangement, it didn't feel too rushed and you gave multiple perspectives and focus on hand control and hand guidance for each stance and strike.
@@TenchiBushi In the 2023 version, when Kenshin shows Kaoru his sword at the very beginning and she pulls it out of the sheath, she says "what is this" and finishes her line by answering it herself "a sakabatou?" , Whereas in the original Kaoru says "what is this the blade (ha) is on the other side" to which is Kenshin who mentions that name to her and she is surprised to hear that word as if hearing it for the first time. This shouldn't have been changed for the sake of creative freedom. In the 2023 version, Suzume and Ayame are missing from the story as well. I don't know why they removed them. One can only speculate. But I have to wonder, since their presence is very small but noticeable so voice actor costs shouldn't have been a major factor for production costs , budget etc. Plus anime shows are known to use one voice actor for two roles in same show when one role is a rare or one-off occurance.
I was taught to do the Do from an overhead position and when it impacts I flip the blade to 90 degrees by moving both hands close together then move through the opponent for a draw cut through the abdomen. I assume its different between kenjutsu and iaido do it differently.
Good catch, i overlooked that when making the video, generally after every cut we should go back to nuetral stance, especially its a practice for beginners

Actually looking back at it again it's a little misleading, because the horizontal is count as 1 cut - but in the anime it could've been 9 stabs. It's that fictional paradox 😵.
Can you please do tutorial how to do the Amakakeru Ryū no Hirameki? The technique wherein even if you evade the fangs of the dragon, the gust around it will immobilize you completely and its claws will rip you apart?
In Japanese style kenjutsu, it may be fictional, but it is also a quick slash technique in Escrima. For Escrima, it's just a quick execution of strikes no 1 to 9, if done correctly.
