Know Who You Are - Dragon Age Animatic

- My first real attempt at an animatic, featuring my Inquisitor Iyden Lavellen. I had a lot of pent-up creative energy so I cranked this out in two days.
Iyden made the mistake of falling in love with Solas, who didn't love him back. When Solas left, it destroyed Iyden. He'd always been too trusting and idealistic for his own good and he ended up feeling like a massive fool. The confidence the shy, empathetic young elf had built up leading the Inquisition was left in tatters when he encountered Solas again at the Exalted Council and he ended up isolating himself from his friends for a long time. He still prays he can find some way to redeem Solas. This is how I imagined one of his attempts might go if Solas does truly end up being corrupted by red lyrium in DA4.

"Everyone else called him Fen'harel, the Dread Wolf. To me, he was just Solas."
Well, Solas came first.
I'd love a moment like this with my inquisitor in the next game.
Breathtaking!!!! Your art is beautiful and the song with the idea gave me chills!
Ahhh, thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it!
E Allain YW I added it to my DA playlist too it’s perfect!
I’ll only forgive Solas IF I get to punch him in the face first.
Yeeeesss!!! I’m glad someone thought of this too! It would be such a powerful moment, should they decide to include the inquisitor any further in the series. But we’ll see!
Wow! I would never had thought to connect the game and this song! This is fantastic!
Holy shit this is amazing!!
Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it!
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who heard this song and thought of a confrontation scene between Inquisitor and Solas!
By mythal this works so well......oh fudge my heart.
welp no im not crying
AMAZING!!!!!
my heart breaks for Solas
mi heart hurts a looooot
is so sad
Full shivers
Coming back with the new game coming out
Oh SHIT this hurts
Omg dao content that's not 5 years old? Impossible!
my heart!!!!!!! nooooooo!!!
Sigh... Missing the point. Solas isn't about to change his mind. No one can do that. His drive and his mission are far stronger a motive. This would be like trying to change Mythal: it can't be done.
Changing Solas is stripping away every inch of what makes him HIM. Changing Solas is no better than killing him. Stop trying to redeem your villain. Let the tragedy make the story better.
DA fans, do you want another The Rise Of Skywalker? Because this is how you get it.
Thing is, Solas has obviously dropped hints that he wants to be stopped. In Trespasser and Tevinter Nights (book bridging dai to da4). Redemption is a possibility for him. He mourns the fact that he KNOWS he's doing something irrevocable and bad, but his guilt and belief overpowers it. His mind won't be change easily, but nonetheless, I don't think it's completely out of the question. Either war, I'm sure it's a choice. The player can choose to make it a tragedy or not.
@@axlorg89 The best thing we can do for Solas is hold his hand as he dies, so he can know he's not dying alone. From a storytelling perspective him losing this battle and dying makes for a better arc, it redeems him in a way that isn't cheap and closes his story in a meaningful way. People who romanced him want a happily ever after, and that would e a terrible idea. Fan service will ruin this story. What's going to happen? He regrets everything and everyone ends up as friends, riding towards the sunset? Everything that happened, all those who suffered and died because of what he did are just pushed aside because "he's not such a bad guy"? That's an awful ending. He must be defeated as he keeps trying to fulfill his destiny. The circumstances are up for grabs, but in order for this character's story to have some proper tragedy and weight to it he must go through with his plan, even knowing - as he has always known - he's destroying the world. It _has_ to cost him. That's what makes him such a great villain, you feel for his pain, his dilema and his guilt. He needs to be conflicted to the end.
Dismissing Solas as just another 2-dimensional villain doesn't give due credit to the writers who built him up to be this super-complex, nuanced character who has so much potential for growth and a really compelling character arc.
What makes Solas' redemption possible and believable as compared to 'The Rise of Skywalker' is how they're both handled and executed.
Kylo Ren's redemption came out of nowhere. It was obvious in 'The Force Awakens' that a redemption arc was not planned; as soon as he ordered the Stormtroopers to fire on civilians all hopes of a believable redemption arc were compromised.
But Solas' case is different. From the very beginning he is already written to be sympathetic; at high approval, he even starts looking like a tragic hero. BioWare's writing team are far more talented and savvy at handling complex characters like Solas and I'm positive they will be able to pull off a satisfying redemption arc for players interested in redeeming him.
And as for players who just want to kill him, I'm pretty sure that narrative arc will be honored for them as well.
I mean their should be still some emotional elements to
His decision and him genuinely liking and maybe even caring about some of the people in this world, but you are right, I don’t think their should be an ending where you turn solas away from this decision
"Tragedy makes everything better" is a terrible concept. But more importantly if you're just gonna shit on art, why are you here?
