Your imagination is much scarier than anything that can be written. Another reason is NoSleep stories are meant to be written in character, as if the storyteller was actually in the situation. Presumably the story character in this died or was otherwise harmed and unable to document what happened next. An ending to this would have 1) broken the rules of nosleep and hence gotten the story removed, and 2) given the audiences mind less creativity and freedom over the ending. What ending could have scared you more than your own imagination?

I don't know what it is but it bugs me hearing stories of a "monster" falling in love with the female protag. It's like the movie "the boy" it was just creepy. But I guess that's the point of it. I just wish the main protags partner took them more seriously as well

I could see exhaustion making you not think straight but if anything being paranoid would make you less likely to just run out into the dark to confront a stranger.
