I have been volunteering in Timor leste since 2001 in Oecusse which is a very beautiful enclave and it does not even get a mention. If you want pristine beaches, mountain walks, good food, great scenery, swimming, snorkelling , whale watching, I even swam with a dugong, that is the place to go. However it is off the beaten track but well worth the effort getting there.
