We need lil los on here just to talk about the old days with woodie and how he brought him into the rap game and stuff, understanding he just a family man now and doing his own thang and staying out the light , but it’ll be cool to hear from that guy!. Keep these interviews up!.
Nah he’s regional on,y he knows is northern music that’s mainstream. Lazy needs to grow up and grow out of this dumb mentality of I only listen to northern music
Respectfully, many up North Chicano rappers complain that many tell them they act black. I'm glad y'all touched on it. However, the reality is that it is true. Just because we can collaborate up North and be cool doesn't mean we inherently share the culture. It's great that they share it with you guys, but it's not yours. Additionally, the result of having that mentality has caused many (not all) to look at Mexican Paisas different than them. Many also hating on dominant Spanish speakers, labeling them the opposition at times, just for being different. I see many up North Chicanos want to rep being Mexican but never truly wanting to engage in Mexican culture and history, not to be mistaken with Mexican American or Chicano, those are different experiences. All to say, I hope people with platforms like you two keep touching this conversation but hopefully the conversation keeps getting more honest and transparent, rather than talking points on the defense. Respect.
The problem with your point is that youre saying they act black because the south has been so segregated and the Mexican culture, which is really alot of spaniard culture as is just as white as chicanos speaking English, but because race wasnt such a problem up north and English was the universal language used by every culture to communicate, nortenos have ADDED to the hip hop culture since the 90’s theyve been relevant musically and style wise. The black influence is recent, northern rap music has been unique in its own genre for almost 40 years. You guys are discrediting your own people saying its a black thing. Yes nortenos have gotten some game from blacks but it goes both ways. In reality yall put restraints on yourselves for so long and held onto the mexican culture instead of assimilating into american culture like were supposed too, that you feel the need disrespect your own people that did So they can have something in common with all the other races here, because news flash, its not all about us. Yall complain about the n word being used by northerners but its only one word. Theres literally a whole sentence of substance before and after yall cant pay attention too cuz you heard the n word and you’re offended. Things LA is finally starting to do with other races were done up north the last 30 years. Yall really the ones acting black these days when yall cant hide your racism. The fact that you feel the need to point it out on a video that has no black people and the n word wasnt said enough for me to remember, shows that you have some deep down problem with blacks that you need to let go of.
@@xX1ruthless4Xx I see your point. Let me clarify though, I'm a Mexican from up North. I have seen first hand the evolution of northern rap. My problem isn't with the way they act or that they use the N word. It's with the disregard for our shared Mexican culture and people. Yes, many act black and yes, you are correct in your point of assimilating to American culture. However, that not exactly what I'm touching on. People get influenced by other cultures all the time, that's no problem at least not to me. What is a problem is when you start to forget or even unfairly stereotype type your own people because they don't act the way you do. Personally, Ive seen way to many gente who don't act like them be treated unfairly or unjust because they speak more Spanish or they bump banda music. It's all good to show homage to other culturas but don't hate on our own, that goes for any who assimilates to any other cultures.
Southern California moves differently as does Northern California, here we have towns and neighborhoods that are predominantly Mexican American, we are the majority so when I do go visit family up north it used to be a culture shock and vise versa, no disrespect man I got love for raza up there I do understand that it’s a different culture, and kind of in the same boat, when black or white folks grow up in a Mexican neighborhood down here, they speak and act like us, there is an older black man that that loves near me who don’t use the N word but he’s married to a Mexican woman and he talks and acts like we do, even creases his clothes like he did in the 90s
That's a 2 way street bro. There's good parts (cultural exchange), and bad parts (refusal to exchange cultures). Some Norte's are more close to their paisa roots then some Southern Chicanos, who also dislike paisas. That was part of the reason there was a rift in the 1st place.
I will be on here one day. I’ve been listening to wax since I was 13 I’m 25 now he’s been my biggest inspiration and role model without ever meeting the homie. I won’t stop until my clothing brand is recognized and I get the chance to collaborate with these boys.
