  • We missed the morning trip out to check the pots so I duck out on my own that afternoon. Its certainly easier with a couple of people on board.
After checking my two pots I go for a drive around looking for my missing pot, and to my disbelief stumble across it.

Thank you for sharing! Do you put any weight in the plastic pot? I tried several time but failed in Newzealand and was told that Crayfish wont climb on moving pot so must be heavy as 10kg.

Yes, that advice is correct. Railway irons are commonly used over here in Perth. Even the heavy wooden pots have weights added.

How do you find those plastic pots over the wood?
What's with the third pot, did it drift or someone moved it?

Hi Peter, the plastics are way easier to pull in by hand as they are a lot lighter, and we had some good catches with that plastic one this year, so I'd have to say its more about location than what type of pot your using. I have two Jarrah pots. We went out one morning and one of my pots was gone. We replaced it with the plastic one. In this video I actually find my missing pot after pulling the two I'm fishing with. I suspect someone pulled it and moved it in the process, abut it didnt appear they were using it as there were only bones in the bait basket. It was located about 3 - 400 meters beyond where we were fishing.

What did I just watch ? Your by yourself and pulled three pots ? I though the maximum was two pots per person/license?

You are correct, 2 pots per licence. In my description and during the video I mention that I had a pot stolen previously. The second pot I pulled was a pot I borrowed after my pot was stolen so I could continue fishing with two pots. The third pot I pulled was my stolen pot that I luckily found after doing a drive around for 30 minutes or so. You will notice I retrieve the pot and bring it aboard, and don't return it to the water. Hope that clarify's things for you. Cheers for the comment.

@@wildkai4004 Fisheries was all over me like a rat up a drain pipe because I had pulled up 1 too many pots when I decided to repull my pot again and got a severe warning so I would suggest only pull 2 pots per licence. You were lucky you did not get caught
