Have you seen toilets in Japan with a small sink in the lid? The hand washing water fills the tank for the next flush. It still uses water but with twice the utility.

I like these deep dive type episodes where you look more into a specific aspect of a tiny house!
I look forward to seeing more later and here are a few topics suggestions: Stairs, Interior walls types, Exterior walls, Seating/Couches (and if they're actually comfortable, not just functional), etc. Anyone reading this I hope you have a great day!

I really would like to see the wall types and stairs. Making a couch comfortable isn't difficult if you look at it as components (foam/mattress materials and fabrics) and find those that are comfortable to you. I'm planning on using Gold Bonds 6" All cotton futon line for my basic seating and their 8" all cotton futon for my beds. They're fairly light (60-75lbs for a queen) and easy to care for plus long lasting.

There is a toilet style that has a shallow sink with faucet on the top of the water tank. When the toilet is flushed, water that will eventually be the tank refill, is run up into the sink to allow for washing hands after ,then flows out the drain into the tank. Saw this in apartment homes in Japan which are often on the tiny house size due to density of population. Not sure if they are sold in the US but I imagine would be easy enough for a crafty person to fabricate!! So, yes to a sink in the bathroom!🤩

I love it all, the shower curtain is gorgeous, the swivel rack, inset storage and cupboards, even the magnetic barrette holder, down to the use of mirrors for appearance of space and cupboard doors, and a full length one is always good. I’m more of a shower 🚿 guy, but a tub 🛀 would be nice too; like the deep but tiny Japanese tub/shower (I had one in a place I stayed in once); & I like having a sink in the bathroom, but it doesn’t have to be big, although some counter top space is appreciated. 💦

Hiding cords in wall cavity is "neat" idea. A heated penny floor would be a dream come true. I've been burnt or "shocked" by exposed hot water pipes in shower. But insulated pipes heads off headaches over the seasons. Hand held shower head with hooks works great. Slim line mop mirror cupboard is slick. So many great tips.

My tiny is on a foundation , which allows for a few more design options . The house is 325 sq ft , and my bathroom is about a third of that ( 8 x12 ) . I'm part of a senior cohousing community , and we decided to make our bathrooms accessible , along with incorporating several universal design features . So my bathroom includes a full length tub , 3' x 4' separate shower with seat , sink , several grab bars , 5' turning circle , and a 36" pocket door . I don't need the accessible features right now , but there may come a time when I do . It's a comfortable space .

My wife is a massage therapist (we have a Spa Biz) we spent 4 yrs inside a 39 ft. Jayco bumper-pull that had a walk through bathroom with a tub & shower combo. We never used the bathtub (which are usually too small and rarely the shower as we often used the shower in a friend's home). IF I were to design a tiny house (which is not much bigger than some large house bathrooms) I'd want a deep single person Jacuzzi .. and I'd most likely put it in the living area and mostly use it as storage until I really needed it (like if I was hurting or sick). In the bathroom I would make a 3' dia. shower space using a wrap around shower curtain (when the curtain is open it would give more space to the room.) I like the composting toilet idea .. but I would have an access door to remove contents directly to the outside and of course it would need to be vented well etc. (a 55 gal drum with a lid could easily keep the contents safe outside until fully decomposed.) This would mean that you only have grey water to dispose of .. to outside plants or a good hole dug into the ground. I like the idea of having a bathroom sink vanity area (which could encroach a little into the shower space) .. but not over the toilet. Great video with a lot of really cool ideas! I like seeing the comparisons and how people deal with clutter. Making use of un-insulated divider walls makes good sense.

TUB/shower combo, a bigger space priority than our kitchen needs, frankly. I have several chronic pain conditions that truly require as long a tub as I can get. This isn’t because I’m tall; I’m 5’1” (orig. 5’2”, damn the aging process!), but bending my hips and/or knees will negate the soothing results of taking a bath. My body “locks up.” 👵🏻😖🤷🏼
Sink question? Probably would want one in the bathroom (in addition to the kitchen one), for the same reason you mentioned in this video.
Love your videos & you two!

Tiny House Expedition I appreciate the suggestion, and not at all to be argumentative, but I’d still be in a sitting position. I’ve had several chronic pain conditions for over 25 yrs. I’ve learned the hard way that I can’t sit in a car or on furniture for more than 2-3 hours without being in pain that then lingers for hours or even a day (the Fibromyalgia effect), best soothed by being fully flat on my back in a bath, pool or jacuzzi. Sucks, but it’s my reality. 🤷🏼

@@suzannegreene5461 I'm not really that type of farm girl but I began looking at potential bathing options and that was a consideration until I realized we'd have difficulty getting up and out. They are also much cheaper that traditional bathtubs at around $150 but you have to prep and seal it well before installation.

Really nice and practical options in some of them !!! My pet peeve having a closet over the toilet :hard pass. I really like the extra counter space over the toilet in ur rig !!! That's really kool !!! Good vid !!!

For long term living, I need a tub. I only show when traveling or when there is no tub. I use it for pain management, plus I am Japanese in my bathing habits. No soaking in dirty water for me!

I would want a shower because I have a hard time getting out of a tub because my knees dont work right and would want a small sink in the bathroom.

If you have enough room in your weight budget, a walk-in bath is a good option. Soaking the aches away is worth the price and extra weight added IMO.

wow after 3 years...I hit the SUBSCRIBE lol I don't know what took so long....sink in the bathroom yes, and I'm doing a tub...not a huge bath taker but I do see the value...the bus build in my E350 has ceased because I needed to sell...but commencement on the 40ft shipping container starts Insha'Allah this May after I finish 380ft of fencing around my mother's property. Thanks for the VERY beneficial content

Thank you very much! 🥰 We’d rather have a hot bun outside the house than a bathtub. 😉 Excited for you on your container home build! Definitely reach out if you want to collaborate in the future: th-cam.com/video/ujpq1_eU1Aw/w-d-xo.html

Great video. Like others, I like how you focused on one part of the tiny house, the bathroom. A sink in the bathroom is a must have. I prefer the tub/shower combination. Any chance of doing a video on how people heat their tiny houses? There are so many options and possibilities that are never covered, like in-floor radiant heat, using either water or electric cables. Thanks.

Washing machine broke and had to finish washing the clothes in the bathtub. Didn't see that one coming! Glad I had a full bathtub though. (Laundromat got sold and shutdown) My bathroom sink is a must.
