You can use the empowered mortal draw to make it faster. Once you pull the centipide, use it and he'll flinch and take about more than half of his HP bar. ( Method for speedrunner )
If you Ignore the wife through both phases and kill the headless ape first she with sit down sad and depressed and ignore you

Fun fact, the jump the Guardian Ape does still counts as a sweep attack. You can practice to time the jump correctly and its a pretty large window and then jump on his head for extra posture damage :)

You can also use Senpou Leaping Kicks or High Monk to kick this ape while it is in the air. It workes, i always do this

Am I the only one who thinks the lone guardian ape was much harder? Seems to me it was faster and far far more HP
TheDonUrbas probably because of the first fase when he still has his head i found him waaaay more difficult
Second monkey doesn't do half of her moves (no shit throw, no huge fart cloud and grabs), it has less than half of health and posture. So yeah, second fight is much easier.

He’s not controlled by it, it just keeps him immortal but he is still himself
Micah no you can tell when the centipede has taken over by if it’s protruding from the body with certain enemies and in the case of the ape once you remove it’s head it’s movements become more centipede like

Ape changed his fighting method only because his head was cut off. Also the sword from his neck was available to use.
That ending always cracks me up with the scream
Make sure to go up to the body and deathblow it after you kill it to get an "Immortal Severance," new ninjutsu, and cool animation.

Guardian: Apes Summon Twice.
That is actually a cheese strat. What I assume is happening there is that the brown ape can't see you, so the game thinks, it was spawned by an error and despawns it. Then it checks for the headless ape 2nd phase flag, realizes it's there so it spawns in the brown ape again. Who cannot see you in that spot, where the guru was, so it despwans again and repeats the sane cycle
No healing, no deaths. You made this boss really easy to me. Thank you!

Just an extra tip: If you lock on to the ape before you drop down to initially attack him and if you do an air combo before dropping behind him and then hit him with a combo, it’ll take out a good 40-50% of his first health bar before he can even get his scream off

Been watching FightinCowboy for years on Sekiro, Niro and many other games and followed all of his walkthroughs. Tyrannicon's videos showed up and I watched a few and there and though he was pro and funny, but didn't know enough of him. Replaying Sekiro the 3rd time, rewatching cowboy videos and now I've stopped the game and find myself at work literally laughing out loud to Tyrannicons rage videos and now watching his how-to guides. Its really such the unique personality that just PULLS you in. I'm now waiting for any new releases cause I know they will be genuine and still hilarious.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you deflect two of (almost) any of his sword attacks, he should do his stand up move thing where you can deflect and pull the centipede out. I don't know if that only works when you first fought him at his watering hole or not.
Little late to the party here, but yeah i noticed that too, it seems to work the same up until headless gets real obsessed with his terror scream

Am I the only one who think that's not his mate but child, when you defeated them the Memory told that his mate is long gone and you can found a great ape's skeleton in their nest at upper part of the cave

It's crazy how you can make these fights look so trivial. It's easy to feel that the game is so random when you're playing it
I know this is 3 years old but the best advice for most souls games is stay calm. I know easier said than done, but normally when you panic- that’s when you end up feeling more random then in control if that makes sense.. try to stay calm and you’ll be way more in control.. but yes I know the feeling of watching a guide video and then going in and the game seems to not cooperate nearly as well as the video 😂😂😂 we all been there
Thank you for posting. I actually almost beat them on my first attempt. Even the original ape fight only took 5 or so tries, which surprised me as I've heard so many people having loads of trouble with him
It’s been like that with most of of the bosses for me, almost every boss except for lady butterfly and genichiro took me less than five attempts to beat, chained ogre only took me three attempts the first time I played the game lol for me sekiro is the easiest souls game

I’ve beaten ever soulsborne game except for Demon’s Souls which I only recently just started, but I’d call Sekiro the hardest because it leaves so little freedom for approaching encounters. Not that I don’t appreciate FromSoftware going with a concrete protagonist and more linear gameplay and storytelling, (in fact I’d love to see them do more of that) but I think Sekiro kind of forces you to learn all the mechanics in the game. And for someone like me who shamelessly cheeses every Soulsborne boss I possibly can, it made this game extremely hard for all the boss fights that featured no cheese to exploit. And even the boss fights I was able to cheese were still tough as holy hell!! Lol

You can cheese the sharks by going through winter lanterns and then use the knives to lure the first one towards you, but not knowing it on my 1st playthrough really made me ragequit a lot...
When I read comments saying:1st try,easiest boss, piece of cake etc,I go mad and my frustration is over the limit.
In this case however I followed the instructions of tyrranicon and I have to admit it, I killed the headless ape and his girlfriend 1st try. Amazing.

I’m so happy i defeated it in one try! After watching the guide for the solo fight with the ape i was pretty easy dealing with two of them
Lilac Umbrella tool trivializes this fight, you can block his scream and then use recovery time for few more hits.

You are a life saver man. Accidentally ran into this fight then got to the second faze and paniced like you said.
This fight was a lot easier the first, I somehow beat them in one try, the snake eye shiraff guarding the cave was a much more harder fight
OMG I felt the exact same way! It took me several tries to beat the gun lady and I had already used half my gourds before actually fighting the boss. It took me by surprise but I was already used to the headless ape fight and the brown ape had low HP.
Easy cheese is to go high up on the nearby platforms so that she backs into the swamp and poisons herself, then wait until she's low enough for a deathblow and that's it. Slow approach but you'll take little to no damage.
I used puppeteer to cheese it. I wanted her to feel my pain of being 1v4 the first time I faced her.
I beat Snakes Eyes on my first try.
I used a stealth death blow on him first and kept slashing, dodging and spamming Shadowrush on him.
Shiraff was easy. Just do a stealth deathblow and bait the monkeys with the cannons to shoot where he is. This will cause him to fall to the ground, giving you time to hit several times making his posture go down super quick.
30 tries before I watched this video. 1 Try after. My man, you are a lifesaver.

Really helpful video, specifically with how to deal with the second phase of the fight. The only way to deal with multiple enemies in sekiro is to get some type of separation between them, and the tactic used here gives a reliable way to do that.

Actually if you spam the firecracker at the brown ape it builds its posture meter to full so you only need to bait it the once.
i read this strat in another comments. it worked one time. the next, they did nothing to her. it was bullshit. but when it works, its amazing.
@@cookytrix it seemed consistent for me. I noticed it as was getting wrecked by the pair of them and inadvertently spammed firecrackers while running away on ng+ (the brown one died super easy for me on first playthrough). After this a had a few more goes art it before i got it but effect seemed repeatable.

Thank you for your guides. While Sekiro hasn't been too hard on me compared to DeS, DS I-III or NiOh, this juncture had me in quite the quandary. I didn't even know you could drag the centipede out with the spear for massive posture damage. overall this was a much shorter fight for me than the Guardian Ape just from that technique alone.
I never could have dreamed that me a person who normally sucks at souls borne video games and needs people to be summoned to help, would have been able to install Sekiro and in 2 days be able to defeat the guardian ape and his friend. The amount of relief that red marker on the monkey gave to me is indescribable I have never felt so happy in a video game. It feels good

Same. I’m a magic mimic tear Elden ring user and get mocked for my lack of skill. Sekiro has been a pleasant surprise. Got this bad boy on the second attempt. I may not be good at Elden ring but at least I show promise in Sekiro lol

This ape fight I finished on my first try.... Without guides tho I was sweating like crazy from tension.... The bride ape is so easy just throwed 16 shurikens at her and her health was 1hp and a slice by sword and deathblow

@@buttbutterson5326 my issue is with avoiding his firecrackers attack, he uses it every few seconds and I cant seem to figure out a way to avoid it..
@@Tammmmiie His Firecracker will use after a certain combo or when he try to gain some distrance from you. If you figure out which combo that end with firecracker slash, jump backward and run toward him or run behind him, you will get 1 or 2 free hits.
Sorry i can't remember which combo and condition that bait this combo out.

Personally. This fight with the two apes was easier than the Guardian Ape fight at the Watering Hole.
The brown ape was pretty simple once you know what to do and the second Guardian Ape takes more damage than the original.
3yrs late for reply. yeah it is, that Guardian Ape at Watering Hole was a very frustrating fight that I took a rest for about 2 months because I was so mad at him. my sanity was on the brink of collapse on that fight, try die repeat and I haven't been frustrated like that in a game before. then the Demon of Hatred made me uninstall the game for a week lmfao.

Oh totally. Plus the optional fight with Father Owl (in the Hirata Estate) did the same to me. That fight was the closest I’ve got to smashing my TV.
I beat this boss on my first try! Having to do the Guardian Ape 50 times in order to defeat it allowed me to be well practiced for these guys. Good guide!

Extra tip: come from the hidden forest idol, pop divine confetti and ako's sugar and drop on top of him already swinging, you will get through first phase in seconds

My only extra tip would be to try this fight as soon after you be the original Guardian Ape.

I beat the original guardian ape in one attempt and I didn't even have to use a resurrect. I honestly don't get why people struggle on him. Corrupted monk was 10x harder IMO.
