Thanks for the kind words. Have fun. It was a great time. 3 nights in the basin would be much more appropriate to get all 4 peaks, we were very crunched for time trying to get both Eolus peaks and catch the train in same day.

Great video and good content as my fiancé and myself are going to be there this summer!
As far as leaving camp each day, were you ever worried about anyone messing with your gear that was left?
Camp sites are first come first serve as well correct?

Yes everything is first come first serve. You'll be camped far enough away that only like-minded backpackers are around at camp. I was never worried about people messing with our tents. I did have a porcupine come into the vestibule of my tent to chew up the sweaty handle of my hiking stick, which scared the crap out of me in the middle of the night.

@@jacaulk thanks for the response my friend!
That gives me a little more piece of mind knowing that.
I hope to enjoy my time as much as you guys did!
I am sure hearing the porcupine was a little uneasy. At least it was only that lol

good trip. what made you pick the peaks that you did?

Between Sunlight and Windom that first day, we wanted to do both but Sunlight took us longer than expected and it looked like rain, so we skipped the easier Windom. In hindsight we could have easily gotten both of them that day. Second day, we were crunched for time so picked the easier North Eolus over Eolus. Should have planned another day/night in the Basin so we weren't rushing. Was a beautiful location and a super fun time.

Really fun video to watch. I hope someday to go there, only done day hikes so far(eight 14ers) but thinking about overnight gear to do the longer ones. Hope y’all make it back too!

How sad- mile upon mile of reddish-brown, beetle-killed forest. The San Juans used to be emerald green in every direction. Now you're lucky to see a single hillside that's not devastated, and waiting fo the firs lightning strike or idiotic camper to ignite it into an inferno. And don't take heart by saying it's natural. It's not. The beetles can now breed twice in three times in one year to the warming of the climate, which is ENTIRELY human caused. Breaks my heart to watch these videos.
