Your table setting was beautiful yet simple. Love those bouquets of flowers. Got my outdoor bulbs done. Now onto my paperwhites and amaryllis. We all need life and colour in Jan/Feb. Thanks for your inspiring videos. Keep them coming.
i never found the chicken wire to be effective against squirrels because I lived in the bush and it wasn't just squirrels looking for the bulbs. I cheated and planted the tulips deep and then daffodils over them. The squirrels and other critters would encounter the daffodil bulbs and leave the beds alone. I guess they don't taste as good. That only works if you don't mind daffodils and tulips sharing the same space. Love your show.
Good Morning Allen! Tulips are very pretty, however a flower I wouldn't want in my yard as they dont last, leaving a not so pretty dying leaves. At least here in zone 5b. I did notice an outstanding bulb at a garden center named Dream Touch. So Incredible!! Lovely table setting. Your friends will certainly enjoy! Paperwhites and Amaryllis are such a delight to have inside during our harsh winters. Reason spring being my favorite season of all, when everything comes to life! 🌱 Thanks for the tips! 🙂
I went a little overboard this fall and already planted probably 400 bulbs in 10 barrel halves haha. Tulips, daffodils and crocus. My local botanic garden does an annual bulb sale and I definitely took advantage of the bulk prices lol. Planning on doing a small container veggie garden as well. First time in a LONG time I planted anything, can't wait for the spring. Thanks for all the inspiration and instruction in your videos!
Catching up on my favorite TH-camrs and have to say it very invigorating and exciting! Looking forward to the next season! I have a problem with voles eating my bulbs and other plants. Gravel planted with them keeps those buggers at bay.
What a lovely video! I have been using the same dried birds nest gourds for about 10 years. I get them out on August 1 every year and put them in big wooden dough bowls and leave them out through December 1. I also have some that are big and round but they don’t have that hourglass shape. I’m not sure what variety they are, but they’re the same color as the birds nest gourds..a warm golden color. 😊😊 I just love them en masse!
It's really difficult to pick a favorite tulip, but I guess I'd have to pick the pink and green Virichic. Thnx Allen for showing us the bulb layering method for a lavish spring display :-)
Thank you for all of the tips and projects that we can do to make the fall season fun. I planted my tulips and also took a reflected look back at this season. Things are looking good. You do tulips well. I love soft pink. Thanks, Allen!
After planting more bulbs (this time snowdrops) and fertilizing my pansy bed, I sat down with a cup of tea to watch this lovely video. Loved it! So informative and inspiring. I especially liked the idea for using painted branches with the paperwhites. So simple, yet so beautiful. Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge and creativity with us.
I was interested in the section about amaryllis. I have some bulbs I have kept going for 4 or 5 years but I have trouble keeping them upright so I always have to brace them. Growing them in cage type structures makes an interesting arrangement. Thanks Allen!
I feed the squirrels and the birds. I've planted bulbs of all kinds just a couple of feet from the feeders. I've never had them dig up my bulbs. They seem to be happy with the sunflower seeds.
Do you think I could plant tulips in layers in the ground, like you planted them in the pot? Or maybe a shallow layer of daffodils above a deep layer of tulips? I’ve heard daffodils go well in a bed of daylilies, because they appear at different times. So excited to get planting at a little cottage we just built!
So, you are saying if I live in Zone 6a I can do what you did in my plastic container. Can I leave it under my porch on a concrete pad? How deep did you plant your first layer of bulbs and the second layer? I looks like you second layer was only about 3". Thanks for your help.
Allen - I live in MN and often winterize perennial pots in my garage.or porch, watering a very small amount once or twice a month. Could I do this with a pot of tulip bulbs for the next spring?
I love tulips my favorite tulips are pink impression, last year I planted 600 hybrid darwing tulips including daffodils and lilies but I am having a big problem with squirrels everytime I see them they have bulb in their mouth and I can not put chiken wire because this year I planted perennial on the same spot. I would like to know if there is some type of powder or something.. I am tired of running trying to scare them and finding holes on my flowers bed... This is the first year that we have squirrels I can not believe this, those creatures are bad. Help please 😞 Thanks.
I would try sprinkling some Cayenne pepper around the area. I had problems to with the squirrels eating my fruit plants. So I mix water and Cayenne pepper spray my stake's heavily with mixture a few times a week. After a week and half had no problem since.Beside eating my pecans it cool lol I have plenty of trees for us to share.

Love bulbs too! Unfortunately so do the stinking voles😩. We now pour pea gravel into the holes to keep them away. And the GOURDS! Thanks so much.

Yes! (If you can keep the bulb from freezing)
@@PAllenSmith Thanks, Allen, I do have a cooler place in the basement that may help with that. Great show, I learn a lot!
