  • Is cooking pizza outside worth it? I tested a typical grill top pizza oven to see. This video is unsponsored. I was not compensated, this is an honest review.
    The product tested:
Grill Meister Grill Top pizza Oven is a seasonal product that's available 1-2 times a year at Lidl, Aldi carries a similar version. Keep an eye out for it since it's a great value.
This Amazon version is fairly close: amzn.to/44Z1EZ1
It fluctuates in price from $50 -$80.
Great Pizza Peel that fits: amzn.to/3R5i3oV

Nice review of the pizza oven. Thanks for focusing the camera at all angles and content on the pizza oven rather than, on yourself. Not that you are bad looking, but the pizza oven is the subject of the video.

Clearly doesn’t get hot enough, pizza in my pizza oven 800° only takes about a minute and a half. You also need sufficient top heat for an even cook.

Yeah these things are a waste of money, trust me I was suckered in afew years ago and its useless, especially for fresh dough.

Fantastic review so long as you're happy with it then everyone else's opinion is irrelevant, it's a great addition to enjoy something different to what you'd usually cook on the BBQ, good on ya boss

Thanks Leon, here's a follow up video where I wasn't as happy with this oven grilling homemade pizzas: th-cam.com/video/UaA1YyrN_KU/w-d-xo.html

Not a good product. These products do not provide enough top heat to properly brown the sides, top crust and cook toppings. They are a gimmick. you can get better results from your home oven.

They get a lot hotter than a indoor oven, let's have it right just because you may have had a bad experience doesn't make it a gimmick or poor product

Seriously guys ..get a baking steel ..get it to 475-500 degrees (buy a $20 infrared gun) and use fresh dough. Publix has a fantastic pre-rolled dough in the bakery department...you have to dock the dough with a fork or docker because this is the real deal with bubbles and air pockets. Prep your pie on a sheet with parchment paper so you can slide it easily onto the steel when ready. After 2 minutes the dough will be set up and you can just pull the parchment paper out from under the pie at that point. If you want to deal with the semolina flour/peel slide dealie then go ahead. It's not worth the mess and trouble for me. After you remove the parchment rotate the pie 180 degrees. Turn on the broiler in your kitchen oven while the bottom crust finishes to your liking then move the pie under the broiler to finish the top. You'll get a far crispier crust than with a stone and you can control both how you want the bottom crust and top of pie finished. I like to brush the outside rim of crust with a 50/50 mix of melted butter and olive oil with some oregano added when I prep the pie. It helps brown it nicely under the broiler. If you want to do this totally in the oven with your steel then preheat to 480 for a good 30 minutes or more...middle rack... When you slide the pie in wait 3 minutes...remove parchment paper and rotate then turn on the broiler and finish the top. Your bottom crust should be perfect when the top is done. The baking steel makes all the difference.

Burnt my oven up. Closed the lid because top was not getting done. Rendered unusable. Trashed it. Garbage. Do not buy.
