Theo's painting skills aren't that bad. I'm just starting out and my minis aren't better. I like the village raiders pack but honestly I don't think its sometking for me. If the same sculpts are available unpainted I find it more compelling to do it myself 👍
Heh, I never thought anyone else would ever see these minis, especially blown up to HD on a screen. I thought about touching them up before filming, but.. it's probably better to show what a quick paint job looks like compared to the factory one on this new mini set. Yeah, it's nice that people have the option these days to get them painted or unpainted. -Theo
Well, I assume there will be a Monster Pack #2. Let Wizkids know over on Twitter what you'd like to see in it! They do have kobolds and hobgoblins in the Nolzur's unpainted line that they could bring over. -Theo
@@TheGallantGoblin There's actually one coming this month! It's called Cave Defenders :) www.minisgallery.com/index.php?id=icons-of-the-realms-cave-defenders
Heh, thanks. Didn't expect anyone outside my house to ever see these quick paint jobs. And yeah, I didn't realize the color was so off until I saw them side by side. Though on the table and out of direct light, I swear it isn't that obvious. :-) -Theo
The Gallant Goblin Personally I like the deeper green of yours. They’re close to the Pathfinder goblins, which I’ll take all day everyday over the D&D versions. But the best thing is with multiple looks & skin colors, and everything still looking goblin-ish, it invites for creating different types of goblins for a campaign to help expand on goblin lore.
Oh thanks! It becomes a challenge to find something new to say about common monsters when I've already written a dozen lore notes on previous minis. Tried to find something to tie these three sets of creatures together. Hopefully the look at their respective gods was interesting. -Theo
I have the unpainted Gnolls really good sculpts only problem with the unpainted versions is the primer they use which sometimes hides details. I definitely want that monster pack only really because of the Gnolls.(have a nice Tribe going on)And btw don't think the ones Theo painted were that bad. 🖒
Haha, very kind of you! Ah, I hadn't noticed the primer problem, but I'm much more of a "let's get this table-ready as quickly as possible" kind of guy. -Theo
Yeah! It's great that they're pretty cheap too. I have a giant bag full of Nolzur's minis next to my painting table... it's just a matter of finding the time to paint again. -Theo
@@TheGallantGoblin you should definitely invest in Reaper Bones once you are comfortable enough with your painting skills some of their mini sculpts are amazing.
I do have a few, but yes... unpainted as of now. I'm quite happy to be able to get these pre-painted ones when I can, just to save time even. But yeah, the Reaper ones are something else. I should get around to painting them. -Theo
Great review, and hey yourpaints are pretty good too. I do wish they would have cut off the ground/dirt part from the feet. I definitely want the set, especially for the Gnolls. One o the orcs is sadly the same mini as the MM1 orc, but the pose is slightly different at least.
Ha! You're very kind. I did those so quickly back in the day, with no idea anyone would ever see them. I'm about to paint a new set of minis to share on the channel, and that has me nervous! Yeah, it was curious to see they still included the mound of dirt, which makes them stand out a bit from all the other Icons minis. I doubt many people will notice though. Oh interesting. I didn't notice that. At some point we'll go and do our monster-specific videos, showing all the orcs we have for instance. I'm really looking forward to making those, as I haven't started comparing all the minis yet myself. -Theo
Are you referring to the Goblin Village? We are still working on that review. We showed all the 7 minis in this particular Village Raiders product. My apologies if I’ve misunderstood your meaning. -Grady
Sorry Theo says you meant the actual box on the table. Those are in fact the minis we show. We filmed the conclusion out of order, prior to breaking the minis out of the packaging. Sorry for the confusion. -Grady
Yes, the village raider set (on the left) comes pre-attached to their bases. You have the glue the Nolzur's unpainted ones (on the right) to their bases yourself. -Theo
REGULAR GNOLL, REGULAR GNOLL!
Every time I hear humble wood, I feel personally attacked
Aw, sorry, mate. Luckily the Humblewood info always comes at the end, so you can click out early if you need to. -Theo

Hehe, you're very kind! Enjoy the new village raiders! Hope your adventuring party doesn't wipe them out in one fireball. :-P -Theo
Nice minis and good paint job
Yeah, it's a good set! -Theo
A pack with kobolds, bugbears, and hobgoblins would be cool

The painting was pretty decent! Except maybe the shade of skin for the goblins. :)
