Kind friends and companions come join me in rhyme
Come lift up your voices in chorus with mine
Come lift up your voices all grief to refrain
For we may or might never all meet here again

There's no man in this wide world as happy as me

Let us drink and be merry all grief to refrain
For we may or might never all meet here again

*Daughter of the Sea*
[Verse 1]
"Beware, beware, the Daughter of the Sea"
"Beware," I heard him cry
His words carried upon the ocean breeze
As he sank beneath the tide
[Verse 2]
Those blood-soaked shores of Kalimdor
Where sailors fought and died
The Admiral fell at Theramore
Because she left his side
[Verse 3]
Why this? Why this oh Daughter of the Sea?
Why this? Did you forget your seaside days?
Always the pride of our nation's eyes
How could she go astray?
[Verse 4]
When she did flee across the ocean deep
The admiral followed west
What else but sail to save a daughter's life
And pray she still drew breath?
[Verse 5]
But there he found upon those distant shores
Enemies 'pon the rise!
But when he faced those savage foes
His Daughter stood aside
[Verse 5]
And buried deep beneath the waves
Betrayed by family
To his nation, with his last breath, cried
"Beware the Daughter of the Sea "
[Verse 6]
I heard, I heard across a moonlit sea
The old voice warning me
Beware, beware the Daughter of the Sea
Beware... beware... of me
*Dear Calypso*
[Verse 1]
From the crow's nest high
I can spy the little islands
Strewn like stones in the salty sea
Pour the rum-pum-pum
Hearts are beating like the drum
The madness taking me (Ho!)
[Chorus]
One day, should port be made
I'll miss her, how her waves throw
This day, we shant delay
On our way, our dear Calypso
[Verse 2]
From the starboard bow
I can spy a city ruined
Taken siege by a pirate's lance
Plundered gold
That was taken long ago
Afore we had our chance (Dah!)
[Chorus]
One day, should port be madе
I'll miss her, how her waves throw
This day, wе shant delay
On our way, our dear Calypso
[Verse 3]
From the decks below
I can spy out through the porthole
Kingly ships of a naval fleet
While we schemed our raid
Our plan had been belayed
For they'd made their retreat (Dang it!)
[Chorus]
One day, should port be made
I'll miss her, how her waves throw
This day, we shant delay
On our way, our dear Calypso
[Verse 4]
From the port side shroud
I can spy under the moonlight
Dreams of fortune awaiting me
Gold and rum
All there is under the sun
But fate would disagree (Hey!)
[Chorus]
Someday, if port be made
I'll miss her, how her waves throw
This day, we shant delay
On our way, our dear Calypso
[Verse 5]
At the Captain's wheel
He can spy out the horizon
"Hands on deck! Tally-Ho!" he cries
"Silver! Gold! Plenty coffers to behold before your very eyes!" (Oh!)
[Chorus]
One day, should port be made
I'll miss her, how her waves throw
This day, we shant delay
On our way, our dear Calypso
One day, should port be made
I'll miss her, how her waves throw
This day, we shant delay
On our way, our dear Calypso

As a rule, I sing along when I listen to shanties when I know the words.
This was the first time I broke that rule because Cami’s harmonies sound like a chorus of angels (that happen to be pirates).

The very first time I see a video one minute after it relasses, don’t regret one second of it. Literally dropped everything to see this
About a year or 2 ago I really got into many people’s songs and covers. Little did I realize that many of their visual art for their videos were done by this sensational-sounding two-for-one swashbuckler!
Running a Pirate Campaign and playing Sea Of Thieves:
YES THAT'S WHAT I NEEDED!!!
The Longest Johns were actually just all Cami, plot twist.
Just in different hats
All of these songs existed LONG before the Longest Johns
@@IONATVS Completely irrelevant, but alright.
@@cameronmcallister7606 It's just a lot of people treat the Longest Johns COVERS as though they are the definitive version and ignore the actual shantymen who worked tirelessly to preserve the all the songs they could remember as their artform was dying out. Or treat other peoples renditions as covers OF the Longest Johns renditions, not renditions of the same source material. I have seen that confusion a lot in the recent spike in interest in shanties. The Longest Johns are good, don't get me wrong, but have no claim to ownership over the songs and everyone comparing every shanty that is sung to the same one group makes it seem like they do.
@@IONATVS Except the Longest Johns never claim any credit for the shanties they cover. Honestly I think it's great that they've helped bring shanties back in such a big way. Of course they didn't do it by themselves, but the fact that everyone thinks of them rather than the originals that we had no way of recording hundreds of years ago is not a huge deal to me since covers becoming more popular and well known than the originals that were much more recent than the originals to these classic shanties has happened before and will happen again.
I was literally thinking "Today feels like a Sea Shanty kind of day" and BOOM!

By the time I finished listening the first time, I was inspired. The second time through, I had notes. Third time, I had the campaign I'll be using to introduce my sister and her friends to D&D.
Thank you, Cami.
this sounds closer to a crew singing a sea shanty together than most things i've heard so good job 😁

Yo Ho Ho. This ship has great acoustics and a ghost choir.
I don't know how I've imagined ghost ships in RPGs this long without realizing the potential in ghosts (or banshees 🤔) singing sea shanties. Like...

To bring us sugar and tea and rum
One day, when the tonguing' is done
We'll take our leave and go
As far as I've heard, the fight's still on
The line's not cut, and the whale's not gone
The Wellerman makes his regular call
To encourage the captain, crew and all
Soon may the Wellerman come
To bring us sugar and tea and rum
One day, when the tonguing' is done
We'll take our leave and go
Soon may the Wellerman come
To bring us sugar and tea and rum
One day, when the tonguing' is done
We'll take our leave and go

Here's A Health To The Company:
Kind friends and companions, come join me in rhyme
Come lift up your voices in chorus with mine
Come lift up your voices, all grief to refrain
For we may or might never all meet here again
So here's a health to the company and one to my lass
Let's drink and be merry all out of one glass
Let's drink and be merry, all grief to refrain
For we may or might never all meet here again
Here's a health to the wee lass that I love so well
For style and for beauty there's none can excel
There's a smile on her countenance as she sits upon my knee
There is no man in this wide world as happy as me
So here's a health to the company and one to my lass
Let's drink and be merry all out of one glass
Let's drink and be merry, all grief to refrain
For we may or might never all meet here again
Our ship lies at anchor, she is ready to dock
I wish her safe landing without any shock
And if ever I should meet you by land or by sea
I will always remember your kindness to me
So here's a health to the company and one to my lass
Let's drink and be merry all out of one glass
Let's drink and be merry, all grief to refrain
For we may or might never all meet here again
Daughter Of The Sea:
"Beware, beware the Daughter of the Sea."
"Beware," I heard him cry.
His words carried upon the ocean breeze,
As he sank beneath the tide.
Those blood-soaked shores of Kalimdor,
Where sailors fought and died.
The Admiral fell at Theramore,
because she left his side.
Why this? Why this, oh Daughter of the Sea?
Why this? Did you forget your seaside days?
Always the pride of our nation's eyes,
How could she go astray?
When she did flee across the ocean deep,
The Admiral followed west.
What else but sail to save a daughter's life,
And pray she still drew breath?
But there he found upon those distant shores,
Enemies 'pon the rise!
But when he faced those savage foes
His daughter stood aside.
And buried deep beneath the waves,
Betrayed by family.
To his nation, with his last breath, cried,
"Beware the Daughter of the Sea."
I heard, I heard, across a moonlit sea,
The old voice warning me,
"Beware, beware the Daughter of the Sea",
"Beware, beware..."
...of me.
Dear Calypso:
From the crow's nest high
I can spy the little islands
Strewn like stones in the salty sea
Pour the rum-pum-pum
Hearts are beating like the drum
The madness taking me (Hoo!)
One day, should port be made
I'll miss her, how her waves throw
This day, we shant delay
On our way, our dear Calypso
From the starboard bow
I can spy a city ruined
Taken siege by a pirate's lance
Plundered gold
That was taken long ago
Afore we had our chance (Dah!)
One day, should port be made
I'll miss her, how her waves throw
This day, we shant delay
On our way, our dear Calypso
From the decks below
I can spy out through the porthole
Kingly ships of a naval fleet
While we schemed our raid
Our plan had been belayed
For they'd made their retreat (Dang it!)
One day, should port be made
I'll miss her, how her waves throw
This day, we shant delay
On our way, our dear Calypso
From the port side shroud
I can spy under the moonlight
Dreams of fortune awaiting me
Gold and rum
All there is under the sun
But fate would disagree (Hey!)
Someday, if port be made
I'll miss her, how her waves throw
This day, we shant delay
On our way, our dear Calypso
At the Captain's wheel
He can spy out the horizon
"Hands on deck! Tally-Ho!" he cries
"Silver! Gold! Plenty coffers to behold before your very eyes!" (Oh!)
One day, should port be made
I'll miss her, how her waves throw
This day, we shant delay
On our way, our dear Calypso
One day, should port be made
I'll miss her, how her waves throw
This day, we shant delay
On our way, our dear Calypso
Flippin coincidental enough, me and my dad were talking about sea shanty's today, and now THIS!? HOW AMAZINGLY COINCIDENTAL IS THIS!?
Google analytic AI: Yes. Coincidence. >.>
That's so true xD
I haven't sung to Roll the Chariot in a good while. Maybe one of these listens I'll stay silent and appreciate it fully...but till then we all hang on behiiiiiiind.
I really love Pirates and Sea Shanties. What I love about sea Shanties is that they can either be solo and wistful than in happy choir.
Always live new Cami content. Your love of shanties really shines through here, so glad for this collection! It's great listening and you really put your passion it it. Big love!
AMAZING, Firecracker is now a song that I'll put on my D&D tables when pirates appear
Yet another sea shanty, however this is from a bard with nat 20 for every performance.
Well done and may fair winds guide you on :)
7:30 finally someone giving this shanty some love, it's such a good parting song. A great rendition, Cami!
I'm obsessed with that last song but I can't find a single version of it besides this one.
Firecracker is an original! :)
definitely didn't expect Daughter of the Sea lmao actually amazing renditions
Okay but we NEED a full band version of Firecracker that shits a BOP
Good news, fella.
pure acapella, no instruments, just the water and the wind in the background- really sets the mood with the lil video- it's just- so perfect and amazing
I just now realized. The final song is an original. PLEASE make a single where you add drums! That's literally all I could ask to ramp up the badass factor even more! A fitting drum beat to back it!
Okay, I ABSOLUTELY LOOOOOVE Firecracker, don't mind me looping it until the end of time, and then some more. great job!
Who doesn’t like sea shanties? They are real bops.
Somebody's mom
My family’s judging me hard for listening to sea shanties but aside from them nobody dislikes sea shanties
I have been listening to this collection for the last 2 days and I am still loving the tunes. Truly a piece of treasure any sailor would die for!
Was I expecting Leave her Johnny? Yes.
Was it fine without it?
No.
It was BETTER than fine. It was excellent and beautiful.
I would love to see these on Spodify! The harmonies, and the beat, and the ocean in the back, and your beautiful voice, and the strong desire to dance and sing along they're all awesome! Thank you for sharing them!
Ok, I was not expecting a 20min video from you anytime soon, but congrats on being my soundtrack these next few days
That was absolutely amazing! Thank you so much!
I'm going to have Firecracker stuck in my head all day!
I remember learning some of these back in middle school have not heard them since. You bring back good memories thank you.
I went to look for firecracker before reading the description more thoroughly and seeing you made it, what the hell its so good???
Here we go lads/lasses!! Another exciting round o' shanty's
The sheer power behind your voice is absolutely stunning. I think it's really obvious on the line "Put him in a bed with the Captain's daughter," but the entire video just is absolutely wonderful, and I may have been listening to this on average of like 3 times a day since finding it!
Ok, I pride myself on knowing sea shanties and I have not heard most of these, so this was a pleasant surprise.
I love that you included Dear Calypso, by far my favorite sea shanty. Excellent work on all of these songs!
Honestly, you probably could have done twenty minutes of Just Drunken Sailor. There are A LOT of verses.
Same with many of the others lol
sea shanties frequently have interminable verses due to the amount of time they've been around, the lyrical drift that occurs is rarely small so you wind up with 50+ versions each with more verses than the last. really makes you feel the history of songs like these, for many shanties we may never know what the original sounded like.
That's how it goes with tavern songs, everyone and their husbands have their own seven extra verses
Thats the point, without much entertainment, and needing work songs to not get boring, everyone went fuckin nuts with verses.
@@TheKingOfSoup
Lots of jobs are still boring ad fuck. I'm a bit salty that my coworkers won't sing these with me.
@@GnarledStaff wish i worked with you, jammin out would fuckin rock my guy
Your cover of daughter of the sea is my favorite of all time. I love every one of these shanties but that song has brought me back to this video more than any other.
you came in time, it is impossible to feel sadness when a shanty comes around, for soon enough everyone in the room starts singing
Health to the company is one of my favorites! And you absolutely crushed it!!! Well done!
Well hey I got a hard character I will have them sing about their life over seas as a sailor background
Hard character? 😳🤣
(I know you mean bard, but I couldn’t help it🤣)
@@iko0097 Let's be real, with many bard's, they are hard.
Yes I meant hard like I am in defensive stats as Dammm it’s high like the character is
Artificers make suprisingly good pirates, especially once tool expertise makes them excell at steering the ship, navigating at sea, making repairs and playing the accordion, but a bard is defenetly also a very fun option since they get just the weapon and armor proficiencies they need, valor bards be suited for the captain, sword bards for the average swashbuckler and whatnot
@@aboredprophet8128 True that🤣
Wouldn't mind hearing another collection like this sometime. "Leave Her, Johnny" is one of my favorites.
I was writing an essay while listening to this. I accidentally wrote a sea shanty instead
And if it's a free form essay its good
What did you get on the essay lmao
@@dewmilk17 Ironically I got a B for it
@@noblewyrm LMAO
@@noblewyrm that's pretty funny lol
Whenever I heard A Health To The Company come in out of nowhere, I shed a tear. Really great job and I love the selection you picked!
Here's how my listening experience went:
"Ooh! This looks neat! Let's take a listen!"
*Opening lines of Wellerman begin*
"Yeah, this is pretty nice."
*First harmony happens*
"Holy frick that's good!!"
*Favorites*
This is now what I listen to working dish pit at the end of the night.
I DROPPED EVERYTHING FOR THIS!!!!
HECK YEA CAMI!!! youtube you made me miss this master piece!
That last original song was definatly a "snappy" song to listen to
I've been listening to the songs you release, entranced by your voice. Then you release sea shanties, which are among my favorite folk music. It's been said a lot, but seriously, you're spoiling us, Cami-cat. And I love it X3
Oh god! Our dm has just started a pirate campaign. This is perfect.
This is pure bliss for my ears!!! And the art is so perfect I NEED THIS ON SPOTIFY!!!
*You better believe I’m gonna have Drunken Sailor on repeat, it’s one of my all-time favorite sea shanties!*
I was sitting here, translating Latin, and then you uploaded! The perfect music to do homework to! Thank you!
I LOVE YOU SO SO MUCH CAMI!! YOUR CHANNEL IS SO UNDERRATED AND SUPER ADORABLE!^w^
I honestly really love the entire video I love how the weather changes and the ocean ambience and of course the singing like I really love this
Yes yes a thousand times yes this is what I needed today.
That was so good, from your voice to the waves sound behind. Loved it!!!
If you're taking requests: I'se the By, Barrett's Privateers, Old Maui
on that note, I wanna hear "My Mother Told Me" though I think that's more a sea fairing viking themed song than sea fairing pirate song xD then there's "The Flying Dutchman" that ones more pirate themed. Only other song I can think of is already in the video lol it's the very first song in the video xD
We fired no guns, shed no tears ;(
@@disconnected7737 now i'm a broken man on a halifax pier
Vandran's Privateers is pretty good. If you're a fan of shanties and Critical Role like me, it's a lovely wink and nod to the original while also telling the story of a loveable character
@@secpendragon9760 omg that's incredible, thanks
My uncle caused me to love the sea and sea shanties as well with love for the sea. Great singing glad video showed up especially when I needed it today. Voice is as beautiful as ever wish ya the best Cami-Cat
Start: Wellerman
2:27 Roll the Chariot
5:40 Drunken Sailor
7:34 Health to the Company
10:30 Daughter of the Sea
13:25 Dear Calypso
15:30 Port Damali
18:14 Firecracker
The list is already in the description
This gave me serotonin for a fleeting 20 minutes and 18 seconds. Thank you
People think sea shanties were made for the ocean, no. The Ocean was made for sea shanties.
While I’ve never heard some of these shanties, I had great time. Thanks Cami for the tunes. I’ve been stressed out and this took off the edge.
