Went on holiday to the states back in 1990 and crossed over Hoover Dam, on the way to Las Vegas from the Grand Canyon. We stopped and had a tour all inside of it. Great videos Jack look forward to all of them.
Great video, I have been to HOOVER DAM at the start of the new bridge construction, I have video of the CRANE on top of the pilar building the bridge, could not figure out how they got them there. Very nice highway. Love BOULDER CITY. Scotty, Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Before I retired from the trucking industry in 2015, after 38 years, I made many trips from Phoenix up Hwy 60 to Wickenburg, then old Hwy 93 to I-40 to Kingman, then onto Laughlin, Nv. Wished I had a hundred dollar bill for every night I spent at the Kingman TA! Such a beautiful ride, especially when they rebuilt the highway and made it four lane! Your video brings back great memories...memories I'll get to re-live in the near future when I go full time living in my Roadtrek 190! God Bless! Waving from Houston, Texas! (2/6/2018)
I enjoy watching your videos. Ive been to Las Vegas once and I like to go there again on home time for a few days and win some $$ if im lucky, take in a show, hang out at the amusement centers: mini-golf, go-cart racing, arcade, and shop. a big stress reliever.
On my way to Vegas in the 90's, I lost my shift tower on the last horseshoe turn on Hoover dam. Luckily the truck didn't lug and made it to the pullover. Called on the cb for security "Columbo." I told him what I needed for a block of wood (to keep clutch pedal pushed in for A/C)...it's as if he cut it just for me. lol THAT was an adventure, not to be repeated. Dispatcher got a tongue lashing for giving me a time-critical load (free shipping if appt. time wasn't made) with an older truck.
A quick way to shine plastic headlight lenses: Use deep woods Off insect repellent spray. Just spray it on and rub it off with a soft cloth. Do this twice for best results. Make sure the product contains "Deet". Saves big$$$!
Love watching . Was over there 18 mounths before twin towers , my first wife dragged me up to the top.. We all lost sumting that day and still to this day. Love your vids.. yep ive allready had 6 cups before you eavn cracked an eye.. No Sub for glass... Slow is ..get there. Lol.
Hoover Dam was cool over the orginal way back in the day as a kid.... I would have taken the opprotunity to clean your science fiction windshield going on while waiting for those yahoo's to move from the fuel island.... ;) Nice vid...
Miss that Flying hook in Phoenix...pft...When I was OTR I used to drop at the client and bobtail there, even that was a challenge. 24/7 drivers fight for a spot.
Another great video Indiana Jack. Would be great to see more from you as you don't seem to be as regular with the videos these days i guess very busy? Do you go into California IJ as i have seen on some trucker vlogs that some companies wont go into California because of the D.O.T is it a big problem over there? You drive mostly in the West/Central states i think.? Safe Trucking Indiana Jack!
there should be a number to call so they can know your there. At that store you wait longer trying to check out at the cash registers...LOL I have had my old car headlights done that way. Now after I did that I got more for it when I traded my car for my new Buick! Appearance means a lot but being able to see at night is better!
Another easy way to clean headlight lenses. Deep woods Off Insect Spray with “Deet”. Spray it on, rub the yellow film off with a cotton towel. Repeat process. This stuff works and saves big bucks!
This is a completely unrelated topic that popped into my head and I'm not sure if you have a video on it but; do you have any stories on past experiences of being being stolen from, close calls, some situations in the past you thought were shady, maybe even scary moments? Stories on things you could pass down on other drivers or newbies, things we could know. Thanks for the new video!
When my father was a trucker. His truck got jumped on by Lot lizards (prostitutes) and their pimps. He would just drive until the person jumped or fell off his truck. He carried a rifle in his truck but he never wanted to put a hole in his door.
just have to put my $.02 in. when I started driving in 96 the TA in Kingman was 76. I remember my first time there I heard drivers talking about Hoover Dam being closed because of filming a national lampoon movie. Also on July forth 97 I was going from Shriner, TX to Vegas and I-40 was shut down for hours because of a shooting at the flying J never was big on stopping there.
Have you tried Deep Woods Off on your headlights? Tried it on my wife's '93 Pontiac and it worked better than I thought it wood. I came across a video one night on TH-cam on how to do it. I would show this one to my wife but I don't want her to start crying about Kingman.
G'day Jack you do a really good job of these vids you must have very good editing soft ware. One thing I have noticed through out your filming is the state of your roads over there which are very good, a lot of concrete used not like over here in Oz. What is a flying "J" keep safe kind regards John from Tasmania Australia
John Kinnane Flying J is a truckstop chain which was purchased by Pilot. We also have their competitors: Petro, Love's, Wilco, Road Ranger and some independents.
Please share with us the construction progress of Interstate 11 between Phoenix and Las Vegas. I live in Florida and want to visit family in Phoenix on the way to Vegas.
When I was in the USAF (1973-79), I was stationed at Cannon AFB, Clovis NM. I remermber the waining days of Whiting Bros. stations along I-40/US 66. They had a secret discount on gasoline if you showed an active-duty or current Reserve/Guard military ID...retirees too. BTW, Stuckey's had that secret discount, too....at 15%!
3M makes a cleaner for the headlight covers that most auto & truck parts stores carry for the do-it-yourself cleaning, all that's needed is a power drill or buffer, the 3 M kits include buffer pads and applicators.. (I haven't used them, but seen application demo on PBS Motor Week, these are essentially the same products used by dealers & body shops to clean modern headlights.)
that aint nothin try the walmart down in pompano beach florida just north of miami they have trees ALL over their parking lot and curbs ALL over their lot i delivered to sun city produce wich is just east of walmart (right across the street towards the ocean) and it was dark for some odd reason their lights in the lot went out and believe me when i tell you that was fun tryin to get out when you cant see your trailer but you can hear the trees scrubbin your trailer
I remember the first and only time I rode over the Damm. Fourth of July weekend in 97 I was running team and we picked up a load of beer from shriner, TX going to coors in Las Vegas. Got to i-40 and heard on the cb that there was a man hunt for somebody that had just rob the Kmart and flying j and shot and killed a driver. We sat on 40 for several hours. We shut down at the TA the old 76 in kingman so we could see the Damm in daylight had plenty of time on the load. To this day I don't like that flying j in kingman. Ps you couldn't fit 2 trucks on the Damm so you had get on the cb and coordinate with on coming trucks..js
i think old Red would look good with some projector head lights with HID bulbs and a nice wax and buff maybe polish up the rims as well that u and Old Red are gonna be friends for a while .....
#95 I-11, I was on that route, 2 years ago. Nice short cut. Next time, be careful when sliding into a space---look before you leap. I wheeled ships through locks, you brace against the sliding wall and gently, very slow ahead. Nothing to it!
Here's a quick and cheap way to clean your headlights: Buy a can of Off Backwoods insect spray. Spray it on the lens a rub it off with a towel. Do this twice for best results. Sure beats the cost of the kits & the con-men.
What software do you use for editing your videos just curious , what's the deal with guns and trucker are they legal to carry them ? Or is just a nightmare from states to state ? Thanks
Try some WD-40 or generic kind "Walmart", on your light covers. Give a good spray and wait about 15 seconds and rub it out just as if your were waxing your truck. It works really well and can save you some money...
Jack you and I might be dead before that road gets built...Have you seen the web site on the building of that road. They are still arguing over the path of the road, then there is EPA review and other things like how do we find the money to build it. I will never see it.
One point Jack makes in this video is about the plastic headlight lenses .... Maybe not important to meant, but to me one of the craziest things DOT ever made acceptable ..... on all vehicles, but ESPECIALLY on commercial vehicles! Tempered glass sealed beams worked GREAT for decades .... Plastic headlights is to me, one of the most ignorant moves ever made. I miss glass lenses!!!
No wonder Las Vegas was on the brink of bankrupcy, new homes everywhere, new roads/highways,,,,When you were sandwiched [trapped] between two trucks, that windshield looked disgusting,I thought, maybe the guy on the blue truck spit on it,lmao, and Wow Jack, you really think the Taliban attacked us?,You be surprised, who did
Vegas was on the brink of BK because of a boy from Kenya telling all his minions that if they come to Vegas, he will have them audited and be cut out of the TARP funding pie.
All of your films are awesome! My favorite thing about it is that you have multiples GoPros, so, multiple angles. Love it!
You Sir, are a truck driver and a gentleman.
I live on the beautiful island of Barbados and i am enjoying your trucking videos awesome.
Went on holiday to the states back in 1990 and crossed over Hoover Dam, on the way to Las Vegas from the Grand Canyon. We stopped and had a tour all inside of it. Great videos Jack look forward to all of them.
Great video...like the way you show things...Drive safe...Bill in CA
Thanks much for sharing the ride, Jack.

Man, i love the angles u put on the video, i like how on some you do show how the trucks is rolling.......
I love at the beginning when the two B-52's fly by. Absolutely beautiful aircraft.
On my way to Vegas in the 90's, I lost my shift tower on the last horseshoe turn on Hoover dam. Luckily the truck didn't lug and made it to the pullover. Called on the cb for security "Columbo." great video, i am from over the big pond, really great to watch how you boys do it, drive safe and keep well.

Profesional as always.
Awesome...I used to live in Boulder City for about 5 years.
the kingman T A used to be a Union 76
thanks Jack, great, good to see the new 11
In reference to the comment at 13:05....LOL, some may say that, however none would ever do it, they just talk big at times. Another awesome video!!!!

i well remember driving over Hoover Dam and crawl up either side.
Office Max load Jack? Done many of those from the same D/C in Vegas to Phoenix as a "Get Home" load for downtime.....
Hoover Dam was cool over the orginal way back in the day as a kid.... I would have taken the opprotunity to clean your science fiction windshield going on while waiting for those yahoo's to move from the fuel island.... ;) Nice vid...
John is right it was a 76 when I started driving. Most of them were acquired by the TA's.
I love the roundabouts in wickenburg crunch with my flatbed on interstate 11 there are three roundabouts
Hi jack enjoying some of your old videos, ever wonder about old red? Does the young man still have it?
Miss that Flying hook in Phoenix...pft...When I was OTR I used to drop at the client and bobtail there, even that was a challenge. 24/7 drivers fight for a spot.
I wish I could ride along with you!!!
Another great video Indiana Jack. Would be great to see more from you as you don't seem to be as regular with the videos these days i guess very busy?

Safe Trucking Indiana Jack!
Thanks for the ride!!
I drove over the Hoover damn in the early 90 pretty cool.
You're vlogs/vids are second to none Indiana Jack! Expert cinematography. Thanks again!

Jack talking about your head lights why don't you fit spot lights or driving lights to the front end. John
Not to be confused with U.S Highway 11, which runs from New York to Louisiana, and near my home of Bedford, Virginia.
love your vlogs

This T/A used to be "Burns Brothers" truck stop. T/A bought the location around August of 1998.

King Bee I live 8 miles east of clovis, I remember those ole' Whiting Bros. stations as well.
Yeah...all that's left are a couple of ghost stations around Grants, NM and Williams, AZ. Even all the old buldings except these two are gone.
I want to drive in this desert !! Its beautiful. :)
pushing out better quality film than my local tv station here in Northumberland England with more content to, thank you Jack !.
I heard rubbing toothpaste on the headlights helps get rid of the fogginess in the plastic. I've never tried it though. Who knows!

Howard1939
I've used the 3M stuff. It works. Takes some elbow grease if the headlights are really bad but so much work if you catch them early.
I drove the old Hoover Dam Route. Was not fun. Scraped the tops of several trailers on the cliffs face on the switch backs.
So jack, What got you in the game of trucking?
that aint nothin try the walmart down in pompano beach florida just north of miami they have trees ALL over their parking lot and curbs ALL over their lot i delivered to sun city produce wich is just east of walmart (right across the street towards the ocean) and it was dark for some odd reason their lights in the lot went out and believe me when i tell you that was fun tryin to get out when you cant see your trailer but you can hear the trees scrubbin your trailer

Didn't know this but T/A bought out the majority of Petro's. And Pilots were bought out by Flying J. on May 31, 2007.
+Music Man Actually Flying J was bought out by Pilot.
#95 I-11, I was on that route, 2 years ago. Nice short cut. Next time, be careful when sliding into a space---look before you leap. I wheeled ships through locks, you brace against the sliding wall and gently, very slow ahead. Nothing to it!
Do you load and unload goods too?
enjoyed the ride
What cameras are you using on your truck?
When u get your cdl. do they take your driver license?
Best TH-cam trucker #indianajack
Here's a quick and cheap way to clean your headlights: Buy a can of Off Backwoods insect spray. Spray it on the lens a rub it off with a towel. Do this twice for best results. Sure beats the cost of the kits & the con-men.

naturally the day-cab driver is more considerate, right? more exp.?
Need to wash the bugs off your windshield. You can't see to well when you were at the Flying J in Phoenix.
I stay at the Petro. They ALWAYS have parking...
ahh trees and strip malls, tell me about it. I did dollar general for a couple years.
I got my CDL Class B, sometimes the trainers drive you crazy. Lol.
Try some WD-40 or generic kind "Walmart", on your light covers. Give a good spray and wait about 15 seconds and rub it out just as if your were waxing your truck. It works really well and can save you some money...
Eric Ive been driving trucks for 39 years and dont know what the hell a light cover is.
I drive trucks in the Uk but would love to drive in America.
It doesn't matter if the lake is 8 feet deep or 800 feet deep, if it's over your head it's over your head
I-11 will be Phoenix to Reno at the least, and most road geeks run it up to Boise.
Jack you and I might be dead before that road gets built...Have you seen the web site on the building of that road. They are still arguing over the path of the road, then there is EPA review and other things like how do we find the money to build it. I will never see it.
The RPM’s are too high when he’s shifting. Thats not necessary.

The Taliban is very far away Jack, it'll take you months to reach there.
The actual terrorists are a bit closer to home than you thought.
I'am sure the Taliban planted all the trees in the shopping centers.
Thanks for the ride !
