  • Current supplies: My paper is cut into 3.5x3.5 inch squares from 70lb sketch book paper, my pen is a Sakura Micron size 01, my pencil is a student grade Royal HB. My brush pen is by Sakura. If I color I will use either Prismacolor colored pencils or Artists Loft Water color dual tip markers.
A string is used to give a guide as to how to compose a tile. A string can be used as a literal 'border' to define an area or as a suggestion as to where to place a pattern. Sometimes in a finished tile the string can be clearly seen and sometimes it disappears into the work.

Karen, I agree that we are never too old to learn something new. I'm not too many years behind you and I pray that I can remain in the mindset of learning. It keeps us young. I think those who do not yearn to explore are the ones who waste away too early.

Dawn..Firstly I want to thank you so much for doing this video on my tangle. It turned out very nice and I love your shading. I also want to thank you so very much for all the videos that you do. It was just a little over a year ago that I discovered Zentangle which led me to videos posted by yourself, Melinda Barlow and Ellen Walters and the Pattern-collections.com website. I never would have thought that I would myself design a tangle but it just goes to show that no matter ones age, (I am just about 59), that one is never to old or young to discover new things about themselves. You have all been such an inspiration to me and the growth and creativity that I have found within myself has been astounding. With all my heart, I thank you.

This is so cool!!! I said this in another video comment, but I can't wait to teach this to the kids at school!! They will love the creative freedom!!! I purchased a small spiral bound booklet of index cards for practicing zentangles on vacation. This is SOOO relaxing, fun and therapeutic. My kids love to see what I've done!! Thank you for your videos and encouragement!
