Today I address a question that I've been getting ever since Ruler Melusine released over about a year ago. Spoilers for people that actually read the description, Melusine is better but Ibuki will still be fine. The gap between these two is notable but it's not that large, at least not large enough that Ibuki has been forced out of viability.

melusine is worse imo, zerks are better for farming than rulers by a lot. Damage is as big an issue as refund nowadays for farming

sorry but this is a bit of a weird debate. It's either a unit that's effective against almost everything vs a unit that's defensive against all base classes. This is not a Morgan vs Arjuna Alter type of situation
There are more nuance differences than that. The 80% battery actually matters in some nodes which gives her an edge in nodes especially when a 1.1 damage mod is still enough compared to a Berserker 1.5.

Honestly, a year gap is long enough that it doesn't justify skipping. With that kind of time, you can get both.
If you use the servant they will be bond 10 in less than half a year, never understood the argument.
If you legit only use the servant they will be like 12 and a half probably idk.

They do the same thing but ibuki does more damage. Both are good but if you have 1, you dont need the other. With all that being said, summer kiara needs a buff.

@mrharvy100 like the other guy said, they are both aoe arts units used primarily for farming. Ibuki does more damage, melusine has a bigger battery. Both will get the job done. They do the same thing at the end of the day. I didnt say theirckits were the same, but their purpose and usability are relative.

I feel like we've been through this too much. This is FGO, so what's really important is your supports then you can pick whoever you want afterwards. It's not like the game throws hard battles at us constantly and we have grails plus gold fous if our servants is hitting potato. I don't think it matters that much as long as you're getting through the farming just fine. I would love Summer Ibuki but I have to prioritize Summer Skadi this year. Melusine is still a badass cutie tho.

I'm pretty sure it's right, but idk the formula needed to get the odds for either after x amount of attempts so I just divided their individual rates by the number of copies you'd want i.e. 1.5/4 and .7/2

The Long and Short of it is having both is a luxury, have either one and you’re Golden, so go by preference! Big or Small! However if you go for both, it is great to have both a Berserker and Neutral Extra Class Looper! Melusine is best with her 80% Battery yes for the 90++ nodes, and has a great power mod with more survivability for CQs! Ibuki will however at equal NPs will do higher damage with semi-support capabilities! On JP my Melusine at 120 is my go to yes! But on NA there are plenty of times I think, who’s better for this particular node, Summer Kama or Summer Musashi?

...Admittedly, my JP NP3 Melusine is pretty impressive, but that's not how we plan for these things.
Ibuki is better, due to sheer availability you don't have to wait much longer for her, but you could be dead or have quit the game by the time summer melu rolls around. Life is limited and Ibuki will be able to do more due to their similar capabilities. People tend to forget the importance of availability.
The real answer is seeing meta Servants as top-tier waifus is the TRUE meta of being an F2P player, and that is why I am aiming to roll for BOTH of them.
Melusine will always be my number one Servant and favorite dragon. I will spare you all the multiple essays as to why. Also, I can't have her burning down Chaldea from loneliness and/or jealousy. 🏢 🔥 🐉

Summer Ibuki is better than Summer Melusine in almost every way. While Ibuki is not significantly better in any aspect (other than maybe damage), she is better in almost every category, to the point where she’s almost a direct upgrade to Summer Melusine.
Yeah "Mel is better but Ibuki is fine" is the craziest take, though we're used to hot take title/descriptions from ZTL by now I guess, and here's us interacting so mission accomplished.
it's actually the other way around, summer ibuki is worse in almost every way where damage being her only aspect that is really better than summer melu (even then, summer melu isn't that far off due to her ramping effect and chaotic damage mod). summer melu has better looping, arguably better team value, better survivability, better crit. not saying melu is better tho, as over 90% of the content in fgo is farming, S ibuki being a better farmer is definitely more important overall, thus making ibuki better, I just want to debunk the misconception of S ibuki being better than S melu outside of farming capability
@@dimensionvisitor7689 I would argue that even that is not the case, I agree that she has better survivability but that actually is barely an advantage with castoria in the game, you would rather hard focus on offense than add to an area which is already covered by a meta support. I don’t see how she can have better team value when all she provides is a damage cut to the team whereas Ibuki has targetable 30% steroids and cd reduction. Melusine’s looping is slightly better, to the point where she can farm 1 - 1 - x nodes, but situations like that almost never occur and summer Ibuki will be better in every scenario other than that. I don’t even think Melusine is better by a significant margin when it comes to crits, sure she has a higher crit steroid but class advantage makes up for it, plus I wouldn’t say doing crit damage as an arts AOE is even super relevant when you can just spam your NP. In a challenge quest I think I would prefer the defensive buff removal and raw damage that Ibuki provides over some crits and extra defense which is really just overkill when castoria will keep your party safe.
In the end though they are comparable enough to the point where even though Ibuki has her advantages, they are not so significant as to invalidate Melusine and they essentially do the same thing in most scenarios.
@@nero_claudius_ I think you are overestimating how well castoria can keep S ibuki safe, without specific set up, double castoria is just 2 hit solemn def + 1-2T invul depending on how you use her steroid. for S ibuki, who has the 2nd lowest hp among 5* zerks, it really depend on RNG against mid-high diff CQs. that def remove is also almost never going to work due to the CQs that depend on defense gimmick are always unremovable. cd reduction is also fairly pointless in terms of team support since unless you specifically built a team where you want to use her skill on someone else (like the arc cd reduce farming comp) there's pretty much zero chance you are going to use it on her teammates. and again, that team damage cut covers the supports as well, as a reminder, unless you have overcharge CE on your castoria, castoria's own survival is going to be a problem, I have run into situations where castoria died on the same turn she used her np.

Huh? What do you mean Summer Melu has higher base damage? She has 11,495 atk at lv90 whereas Summer Ibuki has 12,961 atk at lv90.
Atk value is pretty irrelevant, if a servant has 15k atk and no self buffs and another has 10k base atk but 300% np dmg in his kit the second will deal more base dmg.
Of course ibuki will deal more dmg excluding traits since she has class adv unlike melusine.
But her base dmg is lower.

My understanding is s ibuki is generally far better for farming. Berserker effectiveness along with team support for multi core means she is good very often. Melusine not only comes way later, but is purely selfish and has lower damage on average due to neutral. Melusine I’d assume probably has a lead if you are doing a longer fight as she’s resilient instead of paper, but that’s separate from farming.
Who has ever suggested this? Ibuki outdamages Melusine but cannot do 1-1-1?
I rather summon prototype merlin than summoning another Arts AOE character much worse as she's not a buster farming where 90++ node needs buster character looper...
Damage wise Ibuki being a berserker will almost always make her a better looper. But Melucine will be the go too for hard content and challenge quests.
i always say go for waifu over meta because meta changes but your waifu never does.

I already have Musashi and both Kiaras and I'm still going to try for an NP2 Ibuki. I love Raita's designs and I'm not that invested in the meta. Heck, I'm actively avoiding Oberon cause there's usually 5 or more other servants I want each year. I was going to roll on Melusine's banner anyway cause I want Barghest more than Melu.
I have a 118 NP3 Musashi and I'm still pulling for NP2 Ibuki. I just really like her though honestly I'm a little done with "two volleyballs on chest held back by ribbons" character design, but damn the absolutely enormous sprites are hilarious.
Well Melusine is definitely the cuter looper and that’s a huge point on her favour.
Ibuki has crazy strength. Berserker strength is excellent. But Melusine is a safe and reliable option. Easily a contender for one of the top arts looper slots.

Ibuki is a beserker, which makes her easier to use at lower np levels if you can't use black grail for an event. If both are np 5 then it's different I guess but at np 1 I don't think melusine invalidates ibuki or is even better than ibuki in the firat place
Summer ibuki is better at everything besides 1-1-x nodes (which are so rare you shouldn't really base your decision off that)
exactly, some people even bring up the ridiculous 1-1-1 scenario just to reach for air to win anything. I also don't get the reason why the 3rd turn matters so much, these two just deals so much damage anw that it really doesn't matter, the boss dies then good continue farming then lol people also i feel factor in how great summer melusine is "in cq's" but bring up farming like which are we talking about here? unless they only do cq's and call it farming and don't touch nodes that actually is for farming lol it's really hilarious
as a f2p i am happy with np3 lancer melusine and i dont need a new AOE looper
Well, I’m not gonna lie. I’m not really a veteran of this game. I’ve only been playing for roughly 2 years. I’m not sure if that makes me a veteran, but I have come to the realization while playing this game. at the end of the day this is a gotcha game and no matter how much we don’t want to admit it. It’s also driven on FOMO. Here’s a little story to make my point back when Castoria was scheduled to be released in a few months, the game decided to have the free SSR better which allows players to pick one free servant and at the time my collection of servants was mostly all beat sticks and power houses….but no support. Now Castoria was the best support servant in the game, and I could have just decided to spend my ticket on yet another powerful servant, perhaps even one that would do well with Castoria, but because I knew the chances of getting Castoria no matter how many Saint quarts I saved up, may not matter in the end I decided to get waiver. Now when her banner finally released, I put in 300 saved SQs….. then I spent an additional 100 paid SQs. And yet, for some reason, she still does not want to drop so at that time, making the right choice to take a more guaranteed route of us support was starting to pay off, but on the very last day of her banner, I still had roughly 4 Saint courts left. And mind you this is before the bad luck protection was initiated. In fact, it was initiated a few months after, but I rolled, and I got Castoria. But at the same time this meant that now waiver was power creeped. But I do not feel salty about that because it was a wise choice to make it obvious choice to get something guaranteed than to try to get one from a gotcha. Still in my opinion, even if there is a servant that is going to be arguably better than the previous serve it I think you should always prioritize the most important servants the ones that actually will make a difference over the ones that you just want but if the service is still very good on both sides of the fence, then you should not in my opinion do without either because again all because you get summer Ibuki…. Doesn’t mean you can’t get summer Mélusine, next year. Because again it’s a gotcha game and if you chose to go after them more powerful servant next year, it doesn’t mean that you’re going to get her next year and you’re going to feel bad that you didn’t at least have a service that was close to being on her level in the first place. So yeah, play responsibly, but always make sure that you don’t miss an opportunity to get someone cause even if they are a power crept in the future doesn’t mean that they are not going to be a needed item now.

I kinda think she already has a lot of competition as an arts omni looper, but I'll probably roll for her anyway if the other 2 summer banners are nice to me (cause I'm absolutely satisfied with Lady Avalon and summer Skadi both NP1).

That's a year and a half away, and while Berzsashi's buff seems to have been done as a counterbalance to Ibuki, Ibuki is still better in most cases. I love Musashi and have her at 118 NP3 and she's great, but she starts looking for Oberon in her contacts the second she sees anything but 3/3/x, and she provides nothing to the team besides saying "give me all the buffs and stand back". Ibuki can say the same but also can provide utility if need be, like with AA or Arc. And her charge means that she can Black Grail or 6CE a lot of stuff that Musashi just can't. The NP strength buff Mus gets in 2026 is a big deal, but it doesn't help with her problems, it just lets her hit harder on nodes she can already loop. Musashi does win when it comes to being able to just disregard even unremovable evade/invincible, which as any Musashi enjoyer knows is huge, but Ibuki's on-NP dispel takes care of the removable ones.
I went back and forth on this one a lot a few months ago before I finally realized I was huffing copium trying to convince myself that Musashi even with buff was on the level of Ibuki. She's still my girl though. But I will say that I am a big fan of big girls, and Ibuki is the closest we're likely to ever gyatt (Jinako's belly is something though). I'm just hoping I can NP2+ Ibuki without too much pain because I feel the damage drop from NP3 Mus would be frustrating, but I've been saving and she's getting pulled.
I already have a 120 Spishtar. Mostly want Ibuki as an Arcueid support.
i'm almost bond 15 with spishtar, i need another arts looper or i'm going to be wasting all those sweet bond points.
I'll be passing on Ibuki in hopes of a higher np level for Summer Kama as I have her skills already maxed. Also for servant coins as I might try to 120 her.
Same here. I already have her at NP2, and a hypothetical NP3 Summer Kama does roughly the same damage as a hypothetical NP1 Summer Ibuki + she has more use in longer fights. Still, it all depends on how much I have left after pulling for Ruler Skadi and Proto Merlin. New supports are more important than slightly stronger loopers.
I summon Summer Mélusine instead because she's cuter (and cooler.)

Just from a damage perspective, Ibuki still ranks above Melusine. The berserker class really is too strong. I generally tend to rank them about the same since they're both more suited to different things. The same goes for Space Ereshkigal who kind of fits right in between them. I really think Ereshkigal is slightly better than Melusine because she's a bit more flexible as a neutral looper, but still falls behind Ibuik. All that said: If you already have a universal looper that you've invested in like Space Ishtar, you really don't have to roll on any of them. In all reality; if you got/get Iyo from the event up to NP5, you don't technically need any of them so long as you invest into Iyo. At the end of the day, waifu over meta every time, since drivers can always be substituted. The only time meta units rank over waifus is with supports. Not having Castoria, Koyanskya, Skadi (both), and Oberon, really cuts into your ability to loop with their respective card types. Oberon can be subbed out, but it removes units that could loop with him but can't without him like Melusine lancer. On top of that you can have some issues with 90++ or CQ nodes unless you run multicore setups. Generally speaking though even if you only have one of the top 10 arts loopers at NP2+ you'll be fine for the bulk of the content out there. Space Ereshkigal is quite good, but maybe if you have an Ibuki or Melusine that you've already put a lot of investment in you may want to skip. If you got NP2 Ibuki on NA during the Summer event, you may opt to skip both Melusine and Ereshkigal and focus on other servants who may fill a gap in your box. Even as a mid level whale, I generally consider the pros and cons of rolling on banners, unless it's a top shelf waifu for me. If Ushiwakamaru alter (Babylon version) dropped as an SSR banner, I'd probably spend 100000¥ in attempt to NP5 her weather her kit is broken or not.

lol I deff asked the question like 2-3 weeks ago 😅. I want Ibuki for Ibuki and skadi for skadi. each get 150 sq and that's all I can give.
But I am "Whaling" for lb6 summer and trying to get every unit at least np1 and Sith np5.
Saving like the whole year so Melusine will likely be np2 (unless the gacha gods are absolute chads and give me 5 copies of Sith in one shot🤣)
I’ll do a few multi’s for proto Merlin and ibuki but then I’m saving more for lb6 summer since I like all of them as characters more

Ibuki is off my summoning plan. I'm also debating if I should drop Lady Avalon / Archetype Earth from the list too. I'm currently going for my first copy of Kama and am 17 or 18 multis in - burning too many SQ and still more to go. S Skadi is my main target. Decisions, decisions.

for me personally it's arcued , she was basically my introduction to the typemoon. way back in the early 00s. just got my 1st copy of kama too , for some reason she has eluded my for years. now i have a complete sakura set.

I just wish the events were reversed so I'd know how many SQ I'd have left after summoning for S Skadi - and therefore how much I could dedicate for Arc. I'd really like multiple NP levels of her. Instead, I might have to settle for using her to clear out trash mobs only. Bleh.
Well, Kama took me to pity. Second servant to do so this year. =( Koyan Light was the other one. Based on an analysis of my rolls, I've determined that Evil Assassin servants hate me. How badly do I really want Mysterious Heroine X Alter anyway?

Don't roll for anything. Ever. When the game ends someday in the hopefully distant future, be the only day 1 account with JUST the starter roll worth of grailed servants, grailed welfare servants, the free SRs and SSRs, and a new world constructed from your unused Saint Quartz.

If you are like most players, you have friends with Castoria and a few servants with a support battery. If that describes you, Summer Ibuki is definitely the better servant over Summer Melusine. This video doesn't assume you have that, so it is based on the two servants in a vacuum. Summer Ibuki hits harder because it has Berserker advantage. Also, it removes all defense buffs and can provide support. Summer Ibuki as ruler will only hit neutrally to most all enemies. The only advantages it has are a bigger battery for smoother solo looping and an additional damage proc (with the damage boost being less than the Berserker boost).
ZTL is literally the only youtuber to argue D. Melusine is better than S. Ibuki. So forget Arcuid. Summer Ibuki is much better.

It's interesting when people say that there are servants that are must have. It's like how you mention that your JP doesn't have Oberon, you just need to think a little more and work a little harder with what you do have to finish the content. FGO isn't made to have the most optimal compositions every fight, and year 1 farming isn't optimal, but it gets the job done. People also tend to forget that its perfectly fine to triple command code your lineup for the extremely difficult fights.
True at the end of the day even year 1 servant can clear out fgo content, just pulled for your favorite character design
S.Ibuki is better but I don't like her art so I'm gonna go for S.Melusine

Fist time I saw this I thought: summer melusine? wuzzat?
And the more I check her kit, more I think like: she's a niche. Melusine got more theoritical damage, but Ibuki have defense cleanse making her effectively have more damage in more situation than Melusine ever does. Yes she can do wanky Pride+ farming once every 3-4 months, but do f2p player actually even thinks they can do it to consider pulling for only Melusine? Probably not.

NP2 I say, her damage can be lacking a lot at NP1 which means lower refund
honestly the most annoying part of her kit is the QAB buff but its not gauranteed, meaning if you brought her into like an arts comp per se and she didnt get the arts buff then you may not be able to loop at NP1

@@bartlettracing101 Support will always be worth more for your kit. Especially since most meta strats rely on two copies of the same support. Proto Merlin and Ruler Skadi should be your top priority if you care about that sort of thing. You can always borrow a Arcueid or Ibuki from friend.

They have different strenghts both are good, Ibuki has more tools for battles removing defensive mods is great.

Here I am using Charlie and Arc to farm 😂and for arts it’s Murumasa. Or Kama.
Melusine looks better and is not in the way of Skadi and Avalon so yeah waiting it out might be a good idea, not me though, I want both

sibuki - overall great farmer, can offer things other than just damage, great at most situations of the game besides cq's
smelusine - great damage dealer like sibuki, better for longer fights, cq ready due to her being a ruler
imo when we are specifically just talking about "farming" then sibuki is the obvious answer (if you don't have sibuki and have smelusine then keep doing you) she's basically just gonna have 1.5 mod on all classes except foreigners and draco which are gonna be rare on 90+ and 90++ nodes. I feel the 3rd turn damage is kinda irrelevant because these two deal so much damage in the first place that bosses are dying anw, i don't get why that factors as well if the boss just dies anw whn these two fire off their np like so what? the boss died and? now i feel some people confuse smelisine's survivability to farming, how she can go for X amount of more turns than sibuki which i feel is where the bias kicks in, when we want to "farm" we don't factor in survivability and defense because we want to farm as fast as possible and dealing damage is upmost priority and "3 turning" it. Sure, smelusine is as great in farming as sibuki, but you don't go to cq's every single time you "farm", you'd be insane if you just go to cq during an event and call it "farming". If we're gonna bring up 1/1/1 enemies then why are we arguing about two aoe servants, this is just so brainrot imo and doesn't happen far too often these days, sure 1/1/X are common but that doesn't mean sibuki is immediately not viable and is trash, obviously you can use your brain to cook up a team that can do it while having sibuki so is that not allowed now? my goodness we're just gonna get to a point where players are gonna complain that they have to use their brains and press buttons on their phones when playing the game like this is actually hilarious.
gotta make it clear again, if you have sibuki then it's up to you to get smelusine if you want her survivability or you want another farmer in your rostere, (for jp) if you have smelusine it's up to you to get sibuki for more damage against all classes besides foreigners and draco herself then go ahead.
Just a tip for everyone if you have the funds to do it you should still roll for summer ibuki, just in case, because there are alot of stacked servents next year, so having her in the pocket isnt a bad idea.

the lilim harlot event assigns certain servants to certain cardsamd they do different effecs:
arts: draco, Nemo, Sita, lady avalon, Helena
buster: tiamat, Frankenstein, molay
quick: setanta, gozen and kama

She ain't really boring but she ain't great. Melu needs NP3 while Ibuki only needs NP2...tho NP3 is still better. Also Melu ain't a great duel core farmer while Ibuki is still a top pick in JP. Honestly get high NP lvl on Ibuki and then Summer Castoria OR Beast and you can pretty much farm all 90++ nodes.

Melusine is worse than Ibuki-Douji, in my opinion. I also prefer Kama a bit more than Ibuki and totally over Melusine.

I'm in the same situation and I would say that Summer Ibuki is very skippable if you have a high level S. Musashi. I'll get her to level 120 once Anni comes around on NA and we get triple Super and Great chance.
However, while I don't need S. Ibuki, 4* Erice Avenger is also on Ibuki's banner and I think she's cute so I will probably roll on the S. Ibuki banner.
S. ibuki at np1 is way better than a lv 120 np5 Musashi.
She can be used to kill a wave, buff allies with high value buffs and cdr, main looper, looper with 2 sups, etc.
Good for normal nodes and event nodes with high comp variation
While musashi is only a double castoria looper pretty much.
If the only thing you need is a new double casgoria looper for 90++ then maybe you won't have a good reason to get Ibuki.
@@GS_CCC Obviously, it depends on whether you want to have a better looper for farming. It's true that as of now, S. Ibuki will likely outshine Musashi for farming. But, you do realize that S. Musashi is getting a battery/upgrade eventually coming to NA, right? Plus, S. Musashi is fine for me in challenges and a sometimes farmer. I have others to farm/use so for me, S Ibuki isn't essential. Also, it may not be fruitful to be always chasing the current Meta farmer but everyone's situation and box is different. It's totally good if people want to summon for S. Ibuki because they feel like they need her.

Bro she's Melusine. There's no way anyone beats her. I can fkn go 3-1-1 with her on np2. SHE'S THE BEST CHARACTER IN THIS WHOLE GAME AAAAAAAAGHHHHHHHHHHHH (Np3 lv120 on NA for lancer, and jp isnt as good, but np2 lv108. In my defense I don't really play jp as much as I do for NA)
