"This is soaking in drink form" is one of Dermots top 3 best lines.....and he's had some great lines.
Ha! I like that Dermot said our Mother's are liars, then BAM! Peanut butter flavoured cocoa! KARMA, Dermot, Karma!
*You're still one of my favourites though. 😁. Freastal breise do Dhiarmada!
I literally read this comment just as he said that. It was kinda weird...
@kelqueen9998 with the great ones you can hear the quotes in their voice!
Your comment sounded so innocent, and then I remembered these were from Utah 😳😂
I was expecting more of an outraged reaction from Dermot for the peanut butter but maybe he’s mellowing with each try 😂
Well he is like 904 years old now, he probably forgot to take his nap... I say while trying to stay awake at work.
This is the most animated that I've ever seen Taran, and I love it! Dermot seems to bring out the best in her. Please pair them together more.
Still moves at 75% normal speed.
I didn't actually know her face could move independently of her head. Thought it was just just chemically assisted into the one pouty expression for all time...
Is it just me or was she giving him puppy dog eyes. I think she strangely has a crush on Dermot 😍
Slurping together was the beginning of their love story 😂
It's lovely to see her having a grand time
😂😂😂 that voice at the start.. gave me "he's not the Messiah, he's a very naughty boy"
Love me some Monty Python!!!
Thank you! Glad I am not the only one who heard Monty Python when those two started speaking! 👍😂
I love the combination of Try-ers so much today. The alignment on tastes and just the sheer sass and turn of phrase out of all of you! Well done! Gorgeous!
Doesn't get much more pleasant than Seamus and Nicole. 😊
Stellar editing - it was a whole lot of fun seeing the contradictory reactions to the same chocolates. And the cackle at Mormonism was A+.
Was it at Mormonism (what most familiar with Utah would laugh at) or was it just Utah or even wherever it came from? Only asking because I thought the same question when I heard said cackle (but I'm not going back to check).
Any day there is a new TRY upload is a good day. Love the tryer pairings so much today.
You do know that they upload new videos every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, right?
OMG Dermot and Taran together again! And yes Dermot, you most certainly can do that voice for the whole video! LMAO
I could have used Dermot's advice years ago and saved myself a lot of time and therapy. I love it when you're in the videos. Much love and thanks from Canada.
I appreciate that, despite your closer proximity to England, the Irish still do an exaggerated Cockney accent when "being English" just like the rest of us 😂
Stephen's is fine after you add coffee to it. 😆
Exactly, I def wouldn’t consider it gourmet tho, you can buy it at Walmart 😅
Switching back and forth between these three pairings today can give a guy whiplash woth how different each pair thinks.
It's always a little strange to me how often the pairs think alike but how different they are from other pairs.
I love watching these videos because ones like this remind me of the old days trying to get my kids to eat something new.
I make my own with Giardellelli Dutch Cocoa, Honey and scalded milk with a splash of 1/2 & 1/2. I whip it and then serve. Very good.
My rule of thumbs is that anything that has to put 'gourmet' on the label isn't gourmet.
Rule of Thumb, not thumbs
@@bigmrmacharward It's my rule; I decide what it's called.
Utahn here, Stephens is really good when you add an extra Tablespoon to what the instructions say but tastes watered down when prepared "correctly"
My thought, a serving size is most likely much less that the liquid in those mugs.
I was wondering that too, even the Swiss miss I get is for 8oz of liquid which is like half a mug
Exactly!
Yep, just what I would suggest
I have to wonder if you’re using a cereal spoon to scoop it. I use a spoon that’s slightly bigger than a cereal spoon and the hot chocolate doesn’t end up being watery. BTW, hello, fellow Utahn. 😊
Grumpy old man take: The only flavors, other than butter, cocoa, milk and cream, that can be considered for a hot chocolate are the various baking spices.
It’s funny how whoever’s together usually agrees with the other one. So it’s basically whoever speaks up first is how the opinions will go. Shows the power of persuasion!
Never seen this brand before. Thanks for trying it out so we don't have to! You guys are the best!
I always add a heaping teaspoon of cocoa powder to the mix nefore pourong on the liquid. It helps it be more chocolaty without being sweeter
Dermot and peanut butter, best combo!
Taran looks lovely in green . Glad she enjoyed must of those different Hot Cocoa's . Don't forget the mimi marshmallows for it.
You could have left the "in green" part off, and it would have still been accurate. 😉
Always add an extra spoonful to hit the right level of richness.
Never heard of Stephen’s hot chocolate before, but the best powdered hot chocolate was Godiva’s. A friend gave me a gift basket of Godiva’s chocolates, and there was a packet in there, and it was fabulous.
It’s true!! It’s better than their actual chocolate in my opinion
LOL, "You think I'd be use to swallowing."
another Friday made better by the TRY Channel team
Dermot sounding like one of the Monty Python Pepperpots in that intro. 😄👍
Love you all Try channel. 💜🇮🇪💜
Always gotta make any hot choc on full cream milk. No water, heat the milk and go.
We used to get the Land O Lakes hot chocolate pouches at our grocery store but haven't been able to find them lately. They had most of the flavors you tried today. If they are the same as they used to be they're good.
Steven's will occasionally set up a booth at art festivals and Sundance Film Festival. They'll boil up the hot chocolate in an urn shaped like a cauldron. It is miles better than when you make it at home.
Gourmet Hot Chocolate, melt a bar of Lindt Dark Chocolate add Hot Milk and Swish.
Hot milk is way better than hot water in hot chocolate!
Chocolate and fruit don't go together. U r missing out on life... Chocolate covered strawberry!
That doesn't make sense. Strawberry is a friut. Chocolate covered cherries for me please. YUM!
Dermot sounds like Terry Jones in Life of Brian!😆
6:41 when I learned Ireland says "up notch" instead of "top notch"
Try'rs, y'all rock! ❤😂Peace 🤘 🍻 💨
Dermot almost got stuck in a Monty Python vortex 🤣
Niall: 'My rules should apply to everyone'
Blaithin '100%'
I know this feeling all too well, lol.
Fruit and chocolate is the devil!
@@exiledreptile1 I do enjoy those raspberry cremes in a box of Roses.
This is when this channel is something to behold. Their sarcastic wit and their accuracy (flavours a lot of people like/dislike) is amazing. (Based on these videos, not my opinion) fruit flavoured chocolate is the "universally" least liked food. Liquorice would be next.
@PaulW4 liquorice is a war crime.
I'm just imagining the toffee one with a bit of Bailey's in it ❤
💯Right on!
Blaithin with her fingers in her hair wonderful
Thank you all for the video
My favorite hot cocoa mix in the US is Land O Lakes brand.
I had a friend who did some work for the LDS Church. He was not permitted to have even caffeinated tea on the premises.
Seriously? That's a bit much.
@@technicaldifficulties368 LDS has a lot of crazy rules
I believe the right thing to say to that would be "my condolences" xD
Feckin’ cults, eh. 🤦🏻♀️
The best Mormon joke I ever heard, was "how do you keep a Mormon from drinking all your liquor at a party?"
Answer: "Invite another one so they can watch each other."
I am a huge fan of hot chocolate and usually have several different kinds in the cupboard at any time.
Whenever there are beverages which require the producers to mix or make or put together in any way, there always seem to be wildly differing takes from the TRYers on the same things -- but they tend to be the same for the couple who are sharing the same table together -- which leads me to wonder if there's a lack of quality control when making them, lol. Like maybe they're just sort of 'eyeballing' the portions rather than measuring?
Chocolate and raspberry go together beautifully. I'd love to try the toffee flavored one!
The 2 best are the mint truffle and original milk chocolate. Stir with a candy cane instead of a spoon.
Blaithin is on a streak. And always being the coolest one.
Raspberry and chocolate is a classic and delicious combination!! How could you think otherwise Blaithin?? But to each their own... 😊
I love their honesty...😂😊
As a Mormon, just setting the record straight regarding caffeine: TECHNICALLY, it's specifically coffee and tea that we aren't supposed to drink. NOW, as for the rest (how strict they are regarding other caffeinated drinks) that is simply family specific.
With most hot cocoa mixes, I always add an extra scoop or two because otherwise they just taste like chocolate water😂
Not supposed to drink hot drinks
@Smokyapparition Actually the Word of Wisdom (which is what Mormons follow) it says: "The Lord revealed in the Word of Wisdom that the following substances are harmful: Alcoholic drinks Tobacco Tea and coffee"
So as you can see, nothing about "hot drinks" meaning hot cocoa is ok. This is also why I said that SOME people take it to the extreme; however, at the end of the day you can drink anything you want except alcohol, coffee, and tea.
3:00 Makes for a great Story 😉
In some places not only do they not add sugar to chocolate they mix their chocolate with cheese.
Stephen here, I loved the video. Always love Dermot and peanut butter 🙂. Keep up the the good work.
Utahn here, the mint truffle one is far and away my favorite
Now do one where you mix alcohol with the hot chocolate!! 1.5 oz Baileys, 1.5 oz Lagavulin 16, top with real whipped cream. Yummy!
Yay! Dermot and Taran!
Yes, they are great together. One of my favorite pairings.
They are definitely a great paring. I think Dermot is a bit intimidated by her, and she does her best to calm him down and set up some of the humor. Fun to watch.
First 10 seconds I thought I was listening to a Monty Python character
American white chocolate is pretty much just sugar which is why it tasted like candy corn or just general sweetness/vanilla
Chocolate and fruit TOTALLY BELONG TOGETHER.
Absolutely. You can dunk any fruit in chocolate and it's gonna be amazing.
Only in a Cadbury fruit and nut bar.
Depends on the fruit. Chocolate and citrus is terrible.
YES! Yes they do👍🏼
@diggity1039 the makers of chocolate oranges beg to differ...
taran and dermot would make a good couple imo
That body language is telling a story
I add a little whole milk with hot chocolate. Whole milk has cream in it.
I make mine with 2%.
Me too! Before my wife died she used to mix hot cocoa in a 4-2-¼ ratio with powdered milk and cayenne pepper.
I’m from NJ/NYC never heard of Stephens in my life. But if it’s anything like a Swiss Miss, use milk not water, and double the amount.
I agree100% about Swiss mix, I found a big container of Swiss miss, it says it makes 34 cups, but it won’t as I need add more to get the chocolate taste right
Taran seems like a great time! She’s just funny
Sure didn't expect a random mention of "soaking" based on the video title, but here we are
Hot Coco and coffee is amazing!
I go from watching St Louis based youtubers to watching Irish, Ireland based youtubers who wear a St Louis shirt... is this the youtube algorithm LOL
Are you from St.Louis? I am too. Hi.
@@babecat2000 Nope but I have friends who live about a hour or so) close enough that to drive into the "city" as they call it.
I didn't have Dermot talking about soaking while sipping on hot chocolate for my 2025 bingo card. I shouldn't be surprised but he got me 😅😅
I love the blunt honesty of this channel.
Hot cocoa is made with cocoa powder and hot chocolate is made with chocolate. Know the difference. ✌️
New glasses, Seamus? They look great!
I actually had to rewind and turn on cc when Blaithin was talking about the bear on the peanut butter cup flavored cocoa.. I could have sworn she said "it's a bear made of testicles" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Blaithin you my dear are a riot🫶🏻
This might be one of the most polarizing try shoots y'all have had in a while: "I love it!" "How can anyone drink that?" "All I can taste is raspberry" "I'm getting no flavor from it at all". I truly don't know what to make of the product lol
I see Taran's doing the ASMR at the end. :)
Chocolate banana👍🏻
Chocolate strawberry👍🏻
Chocolate cherry👍🏻
Chocolate raisin👍🏻
Blah!
Nicole is my favorite 😊❤
Aww, they didn’t sense you the candy came hot cocoa!! That one is by far the best.
this is the ingredient list of the milk chocolate:
Sugar, diary products solids, non dairy creamer (coconut oil, corn syrup solids, sodium caseinate (a milk derivate),
mono- and diglycerides, dipotassium phophate, silicon dioxide), cocoa (processed with alkali),
natural and artificial flavors, salt, carrageenan
so anything else but milk and a pinch of cocoa.
Be grateful you didn't have to try any Mormon tea.
That's just herbal tea. Those range as wide as anyone can imagine.
Awwww the peanut butter is back.
You should "TRY" Uranus Fudge, made in Anderson, Indiana The shop sells freshly made fudge in more than a dozen different flavors, including cookies and cream, peanut butter chocolate, blueberry cheesecake, rocky road, and the most amusing: The Mayor’s #2 Most Favorite Fudge, which includes pieces of candy corn in it.
I actually know Stephen and his family and he is the nicest person alive and used to give out his Cocoa to people as Christmas gifts when the company was brand new.
Popular Stir Fry: kung pao chicken, beef & broccoli, cashew chicken, mongolian beef, black pepper chicken
What about adding brandy to these. Brandy makes everything better.
Drinking chocolate, the much thicker cousin to hot chocolate, is amazing. Maverick's Drinking Chocolate is the best I've had so far. It's a chocolate company based out of Cincinnati, Ohio, in the US.
I am not Mormon and I dig my coffee. Thank you! Also Blai, I would say chocolate and cherries pair quite well together I think.
I love hot chocolate! Sorry Blaithin fruit especially raspberry goes very well with chocolate! 😂
You guys are great! ❤☕️
I'm allergic to cocoa powder, so I can only have white hot chocolate. It's good when made with an apple cinnamon tea bag.
Did a research paper in high school and found Mormons don’t drink “hot” drinks which for some reason doesn’t include hot chocolate but does include Coke.
"Hot drinks" is formally defined by them as tea and coffee, but in the 1960's or 70's one of their leaders speculated that it must be the caffeine that made them "bad" and said so in one of the churchwide meetings and people ran with with it, and somehow it morphed into "Mormons don't drink caffeine" instead of "hot drinks (defined as tea and coffee)." Just goes to show that people want to be led somewhere so even speculation by leaders gets people jumping on bandwagons and making cultural movements.
@@MagsonDare In this context the interpretation makes some sense though, as the "hot drinks" were mentioned together with alcohol and tobacco. And when it was being written tea and coffee were the only hot drinks known to the author. Elsewhere the author describes giving his sick kid honey and lemon juice dissolved in hot water.
Mormonism is quite creepy.
Hard for people to understand for some reason. Mormons dont do drugs at all. Caffeine and nicotine are drugs. Like alcohol and THC. Mormons refrain from recreational drugs.
@@Katzenjammerz67 I'd say they rank about the same as every other religion...
NICOLE IS GLOWING
My favorite hot cocoa is Swiss Miss and coffee.
Yeah if you want a nice peanut butter hot cocoa then get hot water, Rich chocolate and the non-natural peanut butter and mix it with some sweetener. You don't want milk chocolate or milk in this as there would not be enough of a chocolate flavor and the peanut butter will give the rich creaminess. The non-natural peanut butter will be a smoother PB to mix into a liquid as most natural PB are gritty. Dark chocolate might work. I prefer the non-sweetened Hot cocoa drink mixes so I can add my own sweetener after to help cut down on the sugar and calories, PB is pretty calorie dense for something like a Teaspoon to a Tablespoon amount.
They don’t even have the best flavor “candy cane cocoa!” Honestly it’s just basic hot chocolate, just don’t tell the Mormons in my state of Utah😂
English toffee and the Mint truffle sounds great
Cadbury Hot Chocolate is next level in Australia. Only Chocolate flakes and hot milk is needed
I've never seen such diverse opinions among the pairs of tryers. The notable exception was the white chocolate.
A good representation of the differences between people. Funny how two together will be the same.
I struggle with hot chocolate. Had a small can of Hersey's Milk Chocolate Powder??? Had to use 6 teaspoons full before I could taste anything that resembles chocolate. Spent a lot of time in the Johnny John Loo Latrine afterwards. Used multiple words to describe toilet because that's how many times I visited the watershed afterwards. My Hot chocolate days are over. Great video however☺☺☺☺☺
Seems like many items that are considered gourmet in the US are considered average at best across the Atlantic.
Obligatory response... I don't know anyone who thinks Stephen's is gourmet, lol! (US citizen here, but not a Utahn, fwiw). :)
Mormon gourmet
Gourmet is a marketing term in the US.
Plenty of us here in the US also
Consider them average. As stated before “gourmet” is a pretty meaningless marketing term here.
