As you can see - brilliant players all three. We came to watch them four days earlier in Ludwigshafen. What a blast. Joey is astonishing. Although barely legal with just 18 years of age, his playing resembles a 50+ years old master of the piano. It's not a bad sign if people here compare him with Jarrett, Corea, Hiromi or Glasper. There's a little bit of every of those geniuses in it, but 'Warna' is a grown-up, highly sophisticated track which shows his own musical identity. And yet: His musical journey has just begun.
If I heard this in a blindfold test, I'd guess Chick Corea with a few new things thrown in. Joey has picked up the torch and will carry it for many years to come.
doesn't rly sound like chick corea. a few lines are stolen from chick and the time is a little similar but other than that there isn't much
People just don't get Jazz music. You are NOT special in Jazz music because your a good instrumentalist, Joey is good, and has been since his childhood. A great Jazz musician is like Parker, or Monk who take risks to forge new territory with their sound. There's alot of good piano player's in Jazz, Alot! As Miles Davis played,... So What! Any non-black jazz, instrumentalist who is good at all will get over-hyped (yes, I'm going there), and that's the pathetic, uncomfortable, truth which has stiffeled the expansion of jazz.

I mean I respect your opinion of course, black people suffered from slavery of course it's a fact and we are against it (the majority of us) but there were also white people , Asians who suffered from slavery and continue to suffer. Infact we did not leave slavery because it is nowadays a modern form of slavery which we live in an illusion of freedom under the pretext of democracies.
In any event,
Black, white, red musicians whatever, there are great jazz musicians all over the world. There are white musicians who are neither exaggerated nor hyped and yet who are very talented and have the means.
And no, Joey Alexandre is not just a simple instrumentalist, he is a musician who magnifies jazz very well, and in his style, he is valued.
Do you think there are privileged "white" people more than "black" people in the music world these days? Think again dear friend.

All I see on the media, internet is mostly attempts to polarize moderate people into one camp or another using the emotional impact of the content on offer, all of which pits people against each other. Male vs. female, black vs. white, progressive vs. conservative, stoking extremism, hatred and tension through treacherous content.
The virtual humanity of the internet and the pseudo activists of the right or the left here and everywhere in the world I wash my hands of it, let these people devour each other, other wiser people know how to step back and live in the real world. Remember that nothing beats your peace of mind. Nothing beats your being consumed by the madness of the world.
I prefer to live and let live and above all stay away from the big movements of the world, my happiness is the people I love and who love me, the little ordinary moments of each day, to hell with the rest of the world. I am happy because I am neither feminist nor prudish, neither vaccinated nor anti-vaccine, neither wokist nor conservative, neither leftist nor rightist, neither atheist nor religious, I am human I have a limited time on earth, and I know that one day no life will exist anymore and that all this energy lost by millions of people tearing themselves apart in societies and hating each other will never have existed because no one will live to get away with it memory. I used to attending Joey jam session with Indra lesmana in Jakarta Indonesia at red white lounge while he was 7 years old, and now his musicality is way beyond constellation!!!!

Love Joey. I've been watching and listening to him, since he was 7 years old. He's grown up now, a teenager. His musicianship continues to grow exponentially.
This is my favorite Joey composition. I can never get tired of hearing any version of it.

Joey, Hiromi, and Robert are all great players. However, they're all nowhere near Keith Jarrett's level, in my humble opinion.
@@BiggyJimbo Just my opinion, but I think that Hiromi has artistic and technical abilities at or very close to Keith Jarrett. Joey is not far behind, especially in his artistic expression on the piano.
There's really something magical about jazz trios! Joey's musicality and phrasing is unique
