- Marines with II Marine Expeditionary Force (II MEF) participate alongside NATO forces in exercise Nordic Response 24 in Norway, March 4-14, 2024.
Nordic Response 24 is a Norwegian national readiness and defense exercise designed to enhance military capabilities and Allied cooperation while training under challenging Arctic conditions, including rugged terrain and extreme cold weather.

It is our domain, a stronger Nordic cooperation between Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland makes much more sense. It is a super professional unit with historical roots that no other alliance can either understand or would be able to match - this is Viking land and our values which go back further than anything else - we fight with our brains and not the weight of our equipment!

0:19 wait that next to Namsos! (can't give an excate location due to it supposed to be a secret) i was deployed there as a Norwegian home guardsmen to guard the port and gate for a week it was also my first thing i did as a guardsmen.
Wow didn't expect to see the place i and so many others guarded for weeks be on video, cool!
And quite an somewhat fun and boring mission, having to see marines unload trucks and the tanks that float on water, leaving the ship and port to head to Namsos to get wasted on their free time, officers having acess to rented cars while enlisted marines had to walk to a bus stop all the way from the port to the bus stop its maybe 4-5 km walk mostly uphill.
The same marines coming back to the gate drunk and even one managed to puke in one of the rented cars, we saw him on the dock camera cleaning the shit out that car, poor dude!
Another moment was when some returning marines managed to crash into the gate due to it being ice on the road, but it all went well for both the car and the gate, only a little dent.
The boring part was all the waiting for something to happen so we could have something to do other than waiting until our shift was over.
More on to the fun stuff, to those who have been security guys on gates probally know how slow the scanner can be and by god i mean it is something so damn slow us Norwegians had to engage in something we are terrible in namely small talk!
Golly that scanner was slow at times, often made it wonder if it was bugged or not.
We also had an older guardsmen one who was ready to turn in his gear due to him being near the experation date that he could be an guardsmen for, i think it 44yr/o
Started like a broom service to brush away the snow on the car window, roof and license plate of the marines's rented cars whenever they came up to the gate to leave. It is illegal to have much snow on those part when you're driving during winter seasons, so not only did we hopfully save those marines from getting pulled over but it also made it so we had something to do other than standing around.
One super cool part was when the marines were driving their new humvees (the newer armored cars) out the gate in a colum they even had their helmets and body armor on when driving. Pretty cool experience to say the least!
We even got to know the ship's engineer a german guy, who every midday left the port to stay in an hotel located in Namsos like so many officers did as well but unlike the engieer who traveled in civilan clothes the marine officers went in their uniforms we could see them when we were on patrol duty the next day leaving the hotel.
I would say we got quite close to that german fellow that we got compliments said about us, but on our 2nd to last day before Another team came to replace us.
One of my squad members had quite an fun interaction with the german guy was when the german guy was returning to the gate he spoke of a water leckage on the ship he worked on so he to stay on the ship for the days to come pretty shitty stuff, my squad mate then said "i'll think about you when i'm home sitting in my chair drinking beer!"
And then the german guy said to his passanger that he had with him that these guys, (meaning us) were a funny bunch.
All in all if you marines are to return and please do, do not change anything about what you did, your actions good and bad is what made the guard duty managble the fun interactions made the days fly by, the stuff i saw those days still stay with me to this day,
As my first mission as an offical home guardsmen i am happy that i was there to experience it all. Thanky you to the marines for all that you do!

I know I'm not buying the basic one's (I'm not sla**ing them off, I'm not going to battle, I just want a good pair of boots for hiking with.)
