1 Peter 4:6 “ For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.”
Could it be that you do get a second chance when it says "That at the name of Jesus, every knee will bow,of those in heaven, those on earth, and under the earth, that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,to the glory of the Father. Philippians 2 10-11.This way we still get a chance to accept Him.If I were an unbeliever I would change real quick with this evidence. Just a thought and no proof in this.
@ I certainly think people are given further chances. Consider what Paul said about Jesus Christ being the Saviour of all men; 1 Timothy 4:10. Those who believe on Jesus Christ in this life (John 14:12) will go onto receive eternal life and enjoy the same glory and existence that the Father and the Son enjoy. (John 17:22). Those who reject the Gospel in this life will get another opportunity to accept it in the next (1 Peter 4:6) but receive a lesser glory in the resurrection; 1 Corinthians 15:40-42. Consider the wicked who rejected Noah’s preaching before the flood. They were cast into spirit prison. But when Christ’s body was in the tomb for three days his spirit went and preached to those spirits in prison; 1 Peter 3:18-20. And thus he fulfilled one of his missions; Luke 4:18. By what Jesus Christ said in Matthew 12:32 we can deduce that certain sins are forgiven in the world to come. The Gospel is also preached to the dead because millions have lived and died without any opportunity to even hear it let alone accept it. After all, it is God’s will that all men should be saved; 1 Timothy 2:4.
@ I do think that people get a second chance after they die. Consider Paul’s teaching that Jesus Christ is the saviour of all men; 1 Timothy 4:10. And that Jesus, while his body was in the tomb, went and preached to the spirits in prison who had rejected Noah’s preaching; 1 Peter 3:18-20. By that he fulfilled another aspect of his divine mission; Isaiah 24:22, Luke 4:18. Those who accept the Gospel and keep the commandments in this life will receive eternal life and enjoy the same glory and existence as the Father and the Son; John 17:22. But those who reject the Gospel in this life but accept it in the hereafter will inherit a lesser glory; 1 Corinthians 15:40-42. The Gospel is also preached to the dead because millions of people have lived and died in this world never hearing about Jesus Christ and his Gospel. Because God is just, those people will have opportunity to accept the Gospel in the hereafter and receive eternal life in the resurrection.
@ The Gospel is forever and it’s clear from the Bible that it is also preached to the dead so they can live according to God in the spirit; 1 Peter 4:6.
We are saved by grace through faith in the old testament it was faith in what was to come, in the new testament it is faith in what has come. Both are belief in the gospel of Jesus Christ in this life.

Did you not understand the meaning of not condemning by Jesus Christ...Even Stephen being stoned to death ask God to forgive them for they know not what they are doing... He is letting you know what the message of Jesus Christ and the Spirit was teaching him to say Even at his moment of death...God is the final word of whom gets his Mercy and Grace... Jesus Christ collects his and God also gives judgment... God says you will condemn yourself by your own words... Jesus Christ said Even if you give a cup of water to one of God's children, your reward will not go not notice by him. Not even a smoldering candle wick will I snuff out. God has Immeasurable Love for his children on earth and doesn't want anyone to parish... Such power and patience of Mercy and grace to forgive and restore whom God chooses and when..
@ScottCrist Yes, God forgives. But God never forces anyone kicking and screaming against their will into heaven. Heaven would then be hell. See www.equip.org/articles/why-should-i-believe-in-hell-/
Yes, there will be opportunity according to Colossians 1 and Philippians 2. We will be judged as spoken in Hebrews, but God's plan is to retore all things and to demonstrate His victory over death and sin (Romans 5). Those who judgement is condemnation will have to "pay back" what they took and then be released (Mathew 5:26).

@tongakhan230 Scripture teaches the resurrection of the dead, the righteous to everlasting life, the unrighteous to everlasting condemnation (John 5:28-29; Dan. 12:2; Rev. 20:11-12). Annihilation of the wicked is never taught. See www.equip.org/bible_answers/is-annihilationism-biblical/
@@BibleAnswerMan : Just think. What is the point of resurrecting an unrighteous person? It is so that these get a NEW OPPORTUNITY to qualify for everlasting life. Their death wiped away all their sins. Romans 6:7. At death they become sinless. These are resurrected to a resurrection of judgement. The verdict is given AFTER the evidence is presented. So, these have an opportunity to qualify for everlasting life on earth. Compare Psalms 37:29. There are only TWO options. Everlasting life or everlasting death. I am shocked at this answer. Yes it is appointed for man to die and after that the judgement, but the context is that Jesus is that man. We all died with Him, were judged and then raised with Him. Post mortem repentance absolutely makes the most sense and is most compatible with the nature and character of God.
@ Read verse 28. Vs 27 “just as it is”, vs 28 “so Christ”. This is speaking of Christ dying as man and for man. We were crucified with Him and we were raised (born again) anagennao, with and in Him. (1Pet :1-3). Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians that we now know in part but then we will see, know and understand more fully. It has been incorrectly assumed that when a person leaves their body behind, they can no longer change their belief or decisions. Nothing definitive in scripture tells us that. In fact scripture does say that at some point, every tongue will confess Jesus Christ AS Lord, to the glory of the Father. Two things: one that believes and confesses is saved, and two; no one can confess Jesus as Lord except by the Spirit. All of scripture points to God being love, being merciful and being restorative rather than retributive in His justice. Hope this helps.

@@bradharford6052 Wrong. There is no scripture that tells of salvation occurring anywhere other than on earth. None occurring in heaven or during any judgment after death. If you find it then you can let us all know. The only time that folks received salvation after death was when after death Christ preached to those before the flood of Noah in hell for three days. Hebrews 9: 27 is correct in the judgment as you see in the scripture below. Hebrews 9: 28 only speaks of the sacrifice of Christ once to bear the sins of many and will appear the second time for those that look for him at his second coming. Redemption after death is not only possible but is the norm. 1 Cor 3.15 If anyone’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire (for the majority of humanity that fire -- the Esh Oklah -- will come only after death). 1 Corinthians 15:29: The dead can be baptized, and so must be able to receive the Christ. 1 Peter 3:18-20; Christ visited the spirits in prison, the dead from the time of Noah, to give them opportunity for redemption.

Is there an opportunity to accept Christ after death? No. After death we being our spirit and soul either go straight to Christ Jesus or straight to hell. Our bodies will be raised in the resurrections of the dead of John 5: 27-29.
It's an important point. first of all, Jesus said not to judge and not to condemn. Jesus also said that the faithful HAVE passed from death to life. What this shows is that the day of judgement is not intended for the faithful Christian for they have passed from death to life. Jesus said "Do not judge and you will not be judged." We can think that our salvation is a right. That would be an error because it is a privilege. It is a privilege to know Our Saviour. God knows hearts far better than any single one of us. That means that of course there is absolutely a second chance! People may reject Christ due to serious misteaching's about him. They don't know him well enough. There are some who never get to hear at all. There are some who live in unfortunate places where Christianity is banned. That shows this great privilege. The day of judgement is for them and for those who have not heard enough. How many have had the privilege of Thomas who would not have believed? The Christian should be mindful not to fall back under judgement!

It can be argued, I think quite reasonably, that Adam was in s superior position to us his offsprring who were born with sin as our default position. Does it not seem that the scales of justice may be out of balance when seen in the context of a sinless man choosing to disobey when juxtaposed with a sinful fallen corrupt man who disobeys? Would it not balance the scales if during the Millenial reign of Jesus Christ on Earth if dead sinners were resurrected (and who would of course be in no doubt of their situation) and given the opportunity during the 1,000 years to 'transformed' and came to be in the same morally perfect condition as was Adam....and then at the end of millenium when satan is loosed they are tested to their loyalty to Christ as Saviour and King?

I don’t think Paul is right on a few things. I defer to the words of Christ Himself. He said all that needed to be said before He was murdered. If there was a time limit confined to this earthly life, Christ would have made that unequivocal. So frankly, it’s up in the air. I come down on the side that there is always an opportunity up to the point that God is literally unable to hear you because you have separated from Him so completely.

If you can’t accept Jesus after death then all those from Adam till Jesus must go to “hell” because Jesus himself said “no man comes to the Father except through me” if this is true then either they accept Jesus after mortal death or you have to have multiple ways to the Father and that is not in scripture. So yes there is a way to accept Jesus after the mortal body dies.
God does not judge as man judges. Even in this day there are people who haven't heard of Christ so would it be right and good for God to condemn those f they die? He, the Almighty, is compassion and love and rightful judgement. All will stand before Christ. But seeing, they will not see, and hearing, they will not hear and they will not repent though the Lord is in their midst. As it was, so it shall be.
“no man comes to the Father except through me” Just because you don't know the name of the life guard that saves you, doesn't mean someone else saved you. The old testament is covered with "Call on the name of the lord to be saved" before people knew that one of the names of the lord was Jesus. Pray to the "God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob", your calling on Jesus. Pray to "I Am" who sent Moses, and your calling on Jesus. Joel 2 is probably the most clear in that it is a "Day of the Lord" chapter, and it says that "everyone who calls on the name of the lord will be saved". 31 The sun will be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the great and awesome day of the Lord comes. 32 And it will come about that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord Will be saved; This was an OT prophesy, so the "name of the Lord" would be YHWH, Elohim, Adonai, and not Yeshua. Add in "I Am", and "God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob" as a valid reference, Matthew 22:31-32. I just can't imagine that the God who loves us soo much that he died for us, can read and knows the very hearts of all in the world, would reject someone who loves him simply because they had the correct heart and repentance, but used the "wrong" name in ignorance.
yet more things that christians can't agree about. They all make up what they want. Per their bible, no one has a chance to choose to accept jesus or not. This god has already chosen who it will allow to accept it and then damns the rest for no actions of their own. that christians can't agree on who is saved, how someone is saved, etc, is notable.
It's because it's a RELATIONSHIP. Nobody is going to be certain they are saved unless every second they are walking alongside God. But time is not what we think, see 2 Peter 3:8-9.
There is a caveat to this whole discussion. The apostle Paul alludes briefly about those who die without hearing the gospel. That they will be judged according to the knowledge and light they have and according to their consciences. We don't know exactly how that judgement happens. Will a person who acknowledges a creator and lived according to his God given conscience still have to make a final declaration of faith in Christ as Jesus is shown to him after death? Paul doesn't say. It's only an extremely brief mention of this topic. And what about those mentally disabled who cannot acknowledge a creator and follow their conscience? How will they be judged? I think room needs to be left for these types of situations. The entire new testament is directed towards those that have adequately heard of Jesus and who have the mental capacity to understand and accept or reject the gospel. It is not addressing the situations of those who die without knowledge of Christ, or die mentally disabled or die in utero (abortion). Let's not be dogmatic about these situations the Bible does not address or just touches on.

Death ends life. The dead do not exist. Ecclesiastes 9:5.
For people who are dead to learn about Jesus they have to be resurrected. Acts 24:15.

Hebrews 9: 27 is correct in the judgment as you see in the scripture below.
“no man comes to the Father except through me”
Just because you don't know the name of the life guard that saves you, doesn't mean someone else saved you.
31 The sun will be turned into darkness,
And the moon into blood,
Before the great and awesome day of the Lord comes.
32 And it will come about that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord
Will be saved;
This was an OT prophesy, so the "name of the Lord" would be YHWH, Elohim, Adonai, and not Yeshua.

Absolutely not. The scriptures are clear
