When the dub and the subs don’t match up, you don’t turn off the subs, you switch the audio over to Japanese, because it’s better in its original form.
It's always better to do it in original form with only subs. But for a series like Death Note with lots of talk and pretty heavy in most of the dialogue, it's pretty hard to record your reaction video, while paying attention on the subs and also digest so many heavy information at the same time. So I understand for some who choose dub for Death Note reaction. At least Death Note dub is not bad like the others

It made me from loving the show/manga to making it my favorit of all time. From the amazing mindgames, the fun characters who are all layered, the intelligent themes that every character gives something to without feeling protentious (The themes of Death Note are for me: The danger of ego, changing subjective justice and the importantce of honest and loving relationships in life), the great artstyle, the visual story-telling especailly in the manga, the soundtrack, the show is creative and subvert your expectations constantly, the voice acting, pretty much everything about it fits. I haven't seen any piece of art to this day, that juggles characters, plot, themes and everything else quite as well as Death Note. If you told me about a show where the main characters are all super intelligent and one of them can kill people by writing their names down and he uses this power to kill bad people, I would probably tell you "This sounds amazing, but it will probably be medicore at best because 80% of the time people have cool ideas but don't have a clue on what to do with them."Not with Death Note.
