I think the overall experience enhances the moment of action. They did it right, I wasn’t bored for a moment. The village bride is my favorite one of the series
The Village Bride is one of my favorite shorts from _Star Wars Visions_ and my number #1 favorite from Visions, with Ninth Jedi as a close second. I enjoyed everything from the short for not only the animation, story and it's characters but for the soundtrack composed by Kevin Penkin with vocals by Emi Evans that can either be warm, quiet, majestic and epic, I literally got emotional listening to Emi's voice in several scenes throughout the episode. Say what you will on the Masked Female Jedi (F) story being "Done" and that the short needs no continuation, but I would love to see more of the character in a potential Anime series besides _The Ninth Jedi_ and _Lop & Ochō_
I loved the Duel and that's one of my favorites but The Village Bride was one of the most beautiful shorts I've ever seen. not to mention this score is out of this world in a galaxy far far away.
@Keshuel No need to Sound negative, I still loved Village Bride on the connections of the Force, the main character (F) not trying to reveal most of her Identity after she remains in hiding following Order 66 and saving the day to save Haru and Saku from Lord Izuma.
Man, I'm such a fucking nerd. I was near tears when F says, "Magina, may you rise. And may the Force be with you." Asami Seto, a Japanese VA I love (Rising Shield Hero - Raphtalia, Jujutsu Kaisen - Nobara Kugisaki) and the English Dub VA, Karen Fukuhara ( She-ra & the Princesses of Power - Glimmer) deliver this line SO well. The music build up, the expressionism in the animation, the story---it just got me man. And while the English Dub was great, hearing the Japanese line of "may the Force be with you" was just game changing for me. This series was everything I wanted growing up. Two of my favourite things: Star Wars and Anime. Thanks for this hour loop, I'm DEFINITELY going to be listening to this quite a bit.
Probably my favorite episode in Visions. The visuals, the story of a Jedi connecting to the planet of her former master and rekindling her will to fight, the mystery of her past, and the concept of “the force is in all living beings” and how the people in this world connect to it in their way (as someone mentioned before). All supported greatly by the amazing score that makes the moments it is used in more emotional. It grabbed my attention from the start and had me completely on board at the end.
"There is no emotion, there is peace. There is no ignorance, there is knowledge. There is no passion, there is serenity. There is no chaos, there is harmony. There is no death, there is only the force." Young padawan you have remembered and truly understood the teachings of your master.
I am still somewhat disturbed by the impact this episode had on me. I didn't expect anything special from Visions, despite Japan and SW being some of the things I love the most. But in my opinion, this episode manages to achieve a perfect mix between the visual and musical beauties of Japanese animation and the SW universe. Shinto, the Japanese variant of animism, is probably one of the most significant inspirations for the creation of the Force. The Jedi were clearly inspired by the fighting monks particularly present in Japanese history (unlike European history). So seeing a Jedi wielding a lightsaber like a katana is really one of the things I dreamed of seeing. The icing on the cake is that the Jedi in question, Efu, speaks little but manages to be endearing due to her trauma and her self-build to be reborn as a Jedi. Maybe I analyze a little too much, but the intonation of her "Watashi wa Jedi" lets perceive this emotion in her to be able to be herself for the first time since order 66. She may be facing an enemy, but she does not say that with a combative or determined air, she simply says, calmly and with newfound serenity, what she is.
Same in English in my opinion, you're the first person I've seen so far to mention the intonation, and I totally agree, loved the way it was said in tune to the music, it was heartwarming
@@JamesFTW1 Knight Templar, Knights Hospitaller (from whom the very word "Hospital" is derived), and Teutonic Knights... yeah, no fighting monks present in European history...
This was by far my favorite episode of the season. if any of the episodes deserved a continuation, it was this one. F has such a cool character design and id really love to see more of her story. They could explore her Master's connection to the planet, her life as a Padawan and Forging her very unique Lightsaber, where she got those cool shoes that helped her move so fast, how her master died in the Purge, her running from the Inquisitors and the PTSD associated with all that, making the mask to help hide from the Sith, meeting Valco and learning of his connection to her Master and the planet, and whatever happens to her after she chooses to stop hiding. This show deserves far more than its gotten so far, i REALLY hope a season 2 is in the works.
Episode was masterful in the art of "show dont tell", build up and reward. I wish disney gave us a whole series from the writer and directors of these.
The marriage of the indigenous heritage with her Jedi training paralleled the marriage in the beginning of the episode beautifully. This episode was absolute poetry.
This single 15 minute episode is, without doubt, the finest thing to come out of Disney owning the Star Wars licence. To encapsulate the essence of what it is to be a Jedi; restraint, skill, a battle against fear, control, a sense of right, reluctance to relinquish the old ways, a belief in the Force.... A whole story, told in 15 minutes, with us wanting so much more of this Jedi's story, that was how it was to watch the OT.... it was just wonderful to have that feeling again.
Second Favorite episode!! F definitely rocks!! The lightsaber and her stance is unusual but its awesome, it kinda reminded of Zenitsu when he do the Thunder Breathing. Hoping to see more of her
I'm happy more and more people are finding Kevin's work BECAUSE HE IS THE FUCKING GOAT. Also I love the profile name of Khun but the chibbi Rak picture.
This is giving me a bit of "Kena: Bridge of Spirits" vibe. The game came out a few days ago and the soundtrack is amazing. I'd love it if Kim would make his own version of Kena's main theme.
I'll be honest this theme is one that I've been considering giving to my current D&D character. The pain, the sorrow and the hope that she's feeling has yet still wanting to do good and fight for what she believes in and what is left of her family and to protect the people that she never expected to become friends. And her dealing with her power and finding out who she is. I've struggled in finding one and this one defiantly seems to fit. I wasn't considering this one that much because your earlier one had the sound of a lightsaber but honestly I might go for it. What's better yet is that she's an elf so this singing could totally be in elvish or even another language.
I like the village bride episode not only is it bloody beautiful but the jedi in this episode is a jedi sentinel and you rarely see those because you would normally see like fighters and counsellors but never a sentinel
To me, this is THE theme for F (the masked jedi). It's suggests her perseverance from a life filled with struggle and her renewed resolve to her facing her new future in this era of darkness as one of the last Jedi Knights.
The village bride was my favorite episode. Everything felt so mystical and mysterious. The characters, the story, the planet… I just loved it, and I think the soundtrack represents it incredibly well. Please upload this to Apple Music and Spotify.
You can't change the river's flow by casting a stone, but live in harmony with nature, and you'll change together. The people of this world know that well. You know that the breath of life becomes wind and will always respond. Magina, may you rise. And may the Force be with you.
I find it interesting that during the vocalization of the Star Wars theme she goes high on the last note instead of low like I was expecting. I’m sure someone smarter than me knows what it symbolizes.
maybe they couldn‘t clear the rights for the original star wars theme so they changed the last note. it gives me goosebumps thought, well done! I‘m just curious in which language the voice is singing in?
This is of my top 3 favorite Visions episodes and has my favorite soundtrack along with The Ninth Jedi. This is amazing, especially with the Force theme.

I think for me it was the return to the roots of star wars, the original idea and vision of george... the ideas from Kurosawa, the odysee, truly the hero's journey... sadly it took this short series of anime for disney to actually realize what made star wars... star wars...
Out of all of Samuel's music (and yes, I did complain about his version of the Kenobi Theme) this one is my absolute favourite of them all. I just... love it so much. No other words can describe it.
Samuel you've given me so much joy listening to these amazing and heart gripping tracks, I'm currently using your music as a backdrop for a star wars TTRPG that I'm playing with some friends and they absolutely love it, we're only a few sessions in but they get so into it, I cannot wait until I pull out your kai x duel of the fates for their first confrontation with an inquisitor,

I want this the be its own show. Or at least a movie. The Village Bride was so deeply moving. Shit, I'm here months after Visions came out just because I wanted to feel again how that episode impacted me. It was beautiful.
The episode’s art style was done well, and it is only further complemented by the fact that the ost master himself Kevin Penkin was responsible for the soundtrack of this episode. He is also responsible for a number of soundtracks in games and also in famous anime like: Made In Abyss, Rising of the Shield Hero, and Tower of God. If you appreciate the art style and music please watch one of the shows containing his works, they all are absolutely amazing.
It’s such an experience to listen to this in headphones while the car radio you can still faintly hear is playing Bullet with Butterfly Wings by The Smashing Pumpkins and other similar songs, as if elements of the world, of the Force itself, are happening all at the same time within you. The mystery and tranquility of nature, of living in harmony with what lays around you, versus the screaming of confused, angry, scared people over the racket of machines into the world at large, only heard because they’ve had to make themselves louder than what’s drowning them. At some point I started writing without putting a lot of conscious thought into it. Some of this is a gut instinct description.
Honestly I'm still thinking about "The Village Bride" and the emotional impact the soundtrack and "Efu" had on me...
It was only a 20 minute short film but it was so beautiful and breathtaking.

No one talking about the return of battle droïds !
This piece has proved really helpful in some of my writing sessions. Thank you.
Une pépite !!!

5:33 best part with the beginning of the singing
