I’m 81. As we age, our skin thins out and dries out. It just doesn’t hold moisture the way it did when we were younger. When I first wake up in the morning, I look a bit like the crypt-creeper😅 The very first thing I do before heading downstairs to take care of the dogs and get breakfast started, is pat essence on all over my face (especially around the eye area) and neck. I can literally see my skin rehydrating. By the time I’m ready to go back upstairs to get ready for the day, my skin’s hydration has been completely restored. After a very gentle cleansing, I find that thinner layers of products and allowing time for each product to settle in is far more efficacious than slathering something heavy on. Good skin prep is everything. As for foundation, I am devoted to CdP’s cream foundation that comes in a glass jar. It’s stupid expensive, but I buy it when CdP has a good online sale for its frequent fliers.\
@ I use La Mer The Treatment Lotion (my essence of choice for many years) as my early morning crypt-creeper remedy. An hour or so later, when I head upstairs to get myself ready for the day, I use Clé de Peau Softening Cleansing Foam followed by CdP Hydro-Softening Lotion which I let soak in. I then use Tatcha The Silk Serum followed by Tatcha The Silk Cream (day) or CdP La Crème (night). I always use a bit of CdP ٍRadiant Multi Repair Oil in my eye area. During the day I use ISDIN Eryfotona Actinica SPF 50+ (mineral sunscreen). These products are my basics. I also use lip balm, but I’m not a loyalist. My current favorite is Ole Henriksen Pout Perfect. These products work well for me, but they could be complete misses for someone else.
@@tammysummerswoodbeck1353 I wrote a reply, but must have deleted rather than posted it. Sorry. My favorite crypt-creeper remedy is La Mer The Treatment Lotion. Although the name says “lotion”, it is essentially an essence. I’ve used it for about 14-15 years and love the stuff. As for my regular morning routine, I use Clé de Peau Softening Cleansing Foam followed by CdP Hydro-Softening Lotion. I seal in the moisture with Tatcha The Silk Serum and follow that with Tatcha The Silk Cream (day). I use a bit of CdP Radiant Multi Repair Oil around my eyes rather than a regular eye cream. My last layer before applying makeup is ISDIN Eryfotona Actinica SPF50+ which is a mineral sunscreen. At night I make a few changes. I substitute CdP Cleansing Oil for the Cleansing Foam, substitute CdP La Crème for the Dewy Cream, and omit sunscreen. Everything else is basically the same day/night. I always use lip balm, but I’m not a loyalist. My current favorite is Ole Henriksen Pout Preserve. La Mer, Tatcha, and Clé de Peau work wonderfully well for me. That might not be the case for other people and so I think it’s wise to get a generous sample first if that’s possible because these brands are not inexpensive.
This is great! Some suggestions for future videos: 1. the thought between the balance of lip color and drama of eyes -- I'm finding I can't do a "strong" look on both! 2. Also, our lives change as we age -- I'm not working anymore so my make-up has to take me from the gym, to lunch with friends, to grocery shopping etc. Will not be replacing most foundations -- just need tinted moisturizer. 3. Eye liners -- as much as I love things like the Victoria Beckham liners -- just can't use them! Way too strong a look! And what a nuisance to get them off at night!! More concerned about eye health issues and need to properly clean. 4. Work with a dermatologist to figure out if there are lasers etc than can support your skin care and make-up goals. Have discovered some great skin care lines through my dermatologist.
Excellent ideas, especially #1 & 2. I'm also in my early retirement years, and am spending my time in part experimenting with makeup in a way I didn't have time fore before.
I am 43, very dry skin, thyroid issue and a lot of other health issues… I have made some changes in my routine: no more primers for me, just better skin care (and it helps!!!), no more liquid lipsticks and lip glosses (they all feather on my lips), no more matte, velvet formulas//no more sparkling eyeshadows.. highlighters - only creamy/luquid versions… and skincare is a must😎 I cannot get any facials or procedures due to health restrictions so I do my own skincare (moisturizers, face masks etc) and it works so far.. this is the time in a life when really less is more❤ I hope it helps to someone ❤❤❤
lol…I’m glad you made this video. I tried eye patches for the first time the other day and had a hard time with them staying on. Seeing how you had them on, I put them on backwards with the thicker part near the corner of my eyes lol. Pray for me.
Great video. A few years ago I found Angie from Hot and Flashy’s content and started my skincare journey. With consistency, at 61, I have people commenting on my skin all the time. We can’t change the structure of our aging face, but we can sure affect the skin. I find I used to wear so much makeup and often now I go with just a skin tint or tinted sunscreen. Consistency is key - make it a habit and you won’t look back! One thing I want to contribute - while I am not a fan of face filler, I did get some filler in my earlobes (those damn 80s weighty earrings) and what a difference it made. They were thinning out, and even had a crease. Earrings would turn my holes into slits. Now they are plumped up a bit and earrings look so much better on me. Had to share!
That Camellia highlighter was something special. This is the first time I bought a backup just to keep untouched. I am kind of disappointed with all these companies that keep on reformulating their products. They don’t last as long and don’t seem to be as good as the old formulas. So this puts me in a predicament that if I recognize a product that seems to be exceptional it makes me want to purchase many of them before they reformulate. It’s kind of annoying.
Thank you! I discovered Chantecaille, thanks to you and find their sunscreen and excellent primer in these drier winter months. I look forward to future videos in this series.
That’s what I’ve been doing this holiday season-and in general- spending $$$$ on skin care. It really makes a huge difference! I’ve stopped wearing foundation altogether - why? Because my skin looks better -reflects light, and glows beautifully with a little concealer and blush over a well hydrated base❤
Thank you Jennifer, beautiful recommendations! Can't wait to try! I would love to see more videos on applying makeup. I am going to try the winged eyeliner tip today.
Love your video!! Eye patches are a must for me every morning! I keep them on as I apply eye makeup and that really helps to keep the eyeliner more precise. I moisturize my skin morning and night as well! ❤️
Thank you Jennifer! What a GREAT VIDEO…. Please keep them coming and your outlook is so positive and uplifting Looking forward to the detailed videos 🎉
Thank you for clarifying that bronzer can be used as a contour as well! Something I actually was not sure about. Would also like to know if you do use a cream bronzer, which one do you like?
What an amazing, idea, Jennifer🙌 love these series. As we age, we need to learn, what looks best on us, individually. And I realized that needs some work, some thought some research…. This year. I bought my makeup very strategically. I look for different looks, what would fit my type of eyes, or colors… I just did a few looks recently, and omg what a difference… I learned to make my small hooded deep set eyes, pop… I also started looking at the makeup that I already have, but wasn’t wearing much. I really love the new me. I suggest , to all the women, who have hard time with aging, reinvent yourselves. I was so bummed , that quite naturally, at 54: I don’t look 30 anymore 😳🤪😂😂😂 i was having very hard time. Every time I looked in the mirror , all I saw my hooded eyes getting more hooded and pre jowls showing up. Well my face not as round. My body still in 30’s , but that’s all cute Chanel over the top wardrobe, or form fitting dresses for my hourglass figure, made me feel, I am trying too hard. I decided to switch to Old Celine Phoebe it’s more edgy, more fashion forward. Omg i started feeling so young… and added some makeup lessons… ah i no longer see my hooded eyes…, i am really happy. Before all. I was thinking I need to invest in procedures, instead of fashion….. But now I am not in the rush. I am enjoying creating new styles, fashion and makeup. Have a blessed day🙏❤️
Jennifer I love the Anisa brush! I bought the set a while ago and have been quite happy with it. I still love my BK Beauty brushes but for foundation I prefer the ANisa.
❤🎉 I subscribed, you look great. I'm older and love my stash of *Viseart* eyeshadow palettes they're so very beautiful and quality is impeccable, plus I shop during their great sales. Btw what's the obsession with short videos??!! I don't get it. The shorter the video, the less I learn. I'll watch them sometimes, sometimes I skip them.. just my take.. Thanks for this "longer" video!! 🙂❤️💄
LOVE Viseart! and thank you! So...I prefer a longer video myself. It's impossible to give any nuance or detail in a short video but YT prioritizes shorter videos becasue supposedly everyone wants them.
Love your channel and updates. I worked as a perfume rep for many years and “lived” in the makeup department. So much fun to play in all the brands. . Now I am over 50 and appreciate the older/wiser tips. 😉 My career background is more science/medical now. Definitely out of the cosmetics loop for a while. I have combination skin but have lots of challenges with seborrheic keratosis (age spots) and collagen loss. My only “savior” has been many years of Retin A use and freezing the spots at the dermatologist. The crepey skin is beginning to come. :/ My annoying lifetime problem has been my dry lips. It seems most lip balms/chapsticks make my skin ball up and then peel too soon to where they almost bleed. Not sure how common this is. 😂 The Cle de Peau Cream Rouge Sparkles, the Summer Fridays balm, and the Laneige Balm don’t seem to do that. They just seem more like adding moisture. I love them. The Tom Ford lip oil surprised me at how quickly it fully sinks in while I get ready. Like a pre lipstick moisturizer. Random thought. Do you have any makeup or skincare products that have “surprised you”? One of mine is how “effective” The Ordinary Peeling Solution feels compared to the Glycolic treatments I used to get from an esthetician. Another one is “The Origins” tinted moisturizer, Ginzing, is an amazing Sunscreen. I couldn’t believe it until I got stuck in the sun for the first time that year for 4 hours. I didn’t burn. I am your skin tone. The Chantecaille “cooling effect” is really “cool”. 😎 I am always hot. Thanks for all you do to help us. I have loved the things I have tried that you like.. I have loved Tom Ford lipsticks for years and love the new liners too. I hope they make some more eyeliner shades, like a gray, blue, etc. Now Prada and Hemes lipsticks (they shocked me too, not too drying and are very comfortable) are joining the lineup. I bought sample sizes first before buying some full sizes. I have always had a too many lipstick 💄 obsession. 😂 Hugs and much appreciation..
Thanks so much!! Have you tried the brand Remedy? they have a lip salve that is pretty amazing. I love the idea of a products that surprised me video series. I've done them here and there. The new Sarah Creal face product is pretty impressive and the Rare Beauty eye brightener!
Brilliant idea for the series! Can you include commentary on the following: 1. I was told years ago to not put mascara or liner under the eyes as you age, as it tends to draw the eye down. 2. Wayne Goss has a video on the magic line, I think from the outer eye down, to keep all the blush, highlighter, etc. outside of that line, again, to draw the eye up. 3. What is it about CdP that makes it good for older skin? If it's the formula, what about the formula? I'm sure I'll think of more, but that's a start. Thanks Jen, excellent initiative!
Jennifer, you have excellent knowledge of luxury products. I am 75 with good skin but some texture issues with large pores. But something in my routine has really improved my skin, giving me more glow and tighter pores. A big enough improvement that close friends have asked what I am using. I added Sisley’s Supremya At Night Supreme Anti-Aging Skin Care Lotion about 8 months ago. Do you think that is the product responsible for the significant improvement? Or the total variety of luxury products I use, are just performing well together? Thank you.
I purchased at Sisley Friends Sale last Spring. This night lotion is $330 but the bottle will last me possibly a full year. Thank you for your response. I look forward to a Sisley video. I love their contour eye and lip cream. And their various masks. I worked with a wonderful Nordstrom SA who introduced me to the products, and purchased good value gift sets to start.

Speaking of eyes. This ugly vein decided to just come out the other day. And look. I’m 63. And things are just coming out. Sadly I think I’m going to get the micro needling set from Qure. Yes. 🙌🏻
