I agree. These guys were so much fun to watch. They played as hard as any team in the country and they fought until the final whistle. This team and the 2010 national championship football team were some kind of special. War Eagle!!!!

Actually they did beat Virginia! Called a 3 point foul with no time left. VA made 3 free throws to win! Auburn should have been national champions that day.
I was dining with my wife, love her, and had to leave the table to crowd around the Television. That game was so exciting. My wife forgave me and asked who won?
I had to say 'Auburn lost'! I was exhausted. What a team. Coach Pearl won me that day. He used so many players. Hope he stays with Auburn. He had coached at Tennessee!

Auburn was hands down the best team in the country that MARCH. No, we weren't the best team for the entire year, but starting with the SEC tournament and blowing out UT by 16 in the SECCG, the dismantling of UNC, this historic game against UK. We got robbed by the refs against UVA, it was a hard fought game, and give UVA the credit for being able to finish in the finals. But the fact that this team made their run, after losing their most talented player in the second half against UNC in the sweet 16, shows what a great coach Bruce is. A lot of teams after losing Okeke would have given up.

Second great game from my Kentucky basketball squad but mad respect for auburn
Bruce Pearl coached against Virginia (though a different style under Calhoun assistant Leitao - now at DePaul) in 2007 when he was at Tennessee (narrowly lost to Ohio State in the Sweet 16. John Calipari (who like Tony Bennett was born in Pittsburgh) had never coached against Bennett at Virginia.
Bruce pearl is a good basketball coach.

The fact that most of these auburn players went either G-league or didn’t ever make it to the NBA and they beat three nba feeder schools in a row is insane!
I think it’s a testament to the importance of fundamentals in the sport. Sports pundits often get mesmerized by the history and tradition of the common four (UK, KU, UNC and Duke under Coach K) as if they are the only programs who matter and because of how entertaining they make the sport and their history, that it should always be that way.

In what way? If you’re referring to the foul on Guy, absolutely a foul. If you’re referring to the no call on the double dribble, very few people would have ever caught that in live action, and his jersey was grabbed right around the time the ball was dribbled off his leg and that wasn’t called either.

I was at this game and it was so fun. The whole game all you heard were Kentucky fans cheering and by the last 10 minutes of the game the stadium was full of auburn chants
