I agree. These guys were so much fun to watch. They played as hard as any team in the country and they fought until the final whistle. This team and the 2010 national championship football team were some kind of special. War Eagle!!!!
Actually they did beat Virginia! Called a 3 point foul with no time left. VA made 3 free throws to win! Auburn should have been national champions that day. I was dining with my wife, love her, and had to leave the table to crowd around the Television. That game was so exciting. My wife forgave me and asked who won? I had to say 'Auburn lost'! I was exhausted. What a team. Coach Pearl won me that day. He used so many players. Hope he stays with Auburn. He had coached at Tennessee! Sorry, Tennessee, your loss was our gain! War Eagle!
Auburn was hands down the best team in the country that MARCH. No, we weren't the best team for the entire year, but starting with the SEC tournament and blowing out UT by 16 in the SECCG, the dismantling of UNC, this historic game against UK. We got robbed by the refs against UVA, it was a hard fought game, and give UVA the credit for being able to finish in the finals. But the fact that this team made their run, after losing their most talented player in the second half against UNC in the sweet 16, shows what a great coach Bruce is. A lot of teams after losing Okeke would have given up.
Bruce Pearl coached against Virginia (though a different style under Calhoun assistant Leitao - now at DePaul) in 2007 when he was at Tennessee (narrowly lost to Ohio State in the Sweet 16. John Calipari (who like Tony Bennett was born in Pittsburgh) had never coached against Bennett at Virginia.
The fact that most of these auburn players went either G-league or didn’t ever make it to the NBA and they beat three nba feeder schools in a row is insane!
I think it’s a testament to the importance of fundamentals in the sport. Sports pundits often get mesmerized by the history and tradition of the common four (UK, KU, UNC and Duke under Coach K) as if they are the only programs who matter and because of how entertaining they make the sport and their history, that it should always be that way.
I was at this game and it was so fun. The whole game all you heard were Kentucky fans cheering and by the last 10 minutes of the game the stadium was full of auburn chants
In what way? If you’re referring to the foul on Guy, absolutely a foul. If you’re referring to the no call on the double dribble, very few people would have ever caught that in live action, and his jersey was grabbed right around the time the ball was dribbled off his leg and that wasn’t called either.
Bryce Brown exposed Tyler Herro and was one of the best pure shooters in the whole tournament. Smh I thought the NBA is a shooter's league and he can't even get a roster spot.
I’ll never understand a shooter letting it hang aka admiring your shot instead of crashing the boards when the game is on the line. It’s the norm in the NBA nowadays.
And if u had forgotten, Auburn had blitzed both Kansas and the Tar Holes preceding the UK win! Its not as though the Tigers had beaten the Little Sisters of the Poor before taking down the Cats! The credit should go more to resilient Auburn
@@jermainejpshepherd2778 but even u should know since your so quick in providing that judgment, talent doesn't always equal out to national championships! U hafta also look at the jobs Calipari entered into! It wasn't always the top flight recruits for him! Each landing stop was an absolute mess when he took over! UMass hadn't even been relevant, Memphis had been irrelevant and Kentucky was God awful under Billy Gillispie! The turnarounds Calipari performed we're next to miraculous and they should be acknowledged, not overrated in a sport that prides itself on balance
I've always respected UK, kind of like Alabama, but your fans are just awful, kind of like Alabama. Your chokehold on the SEC is dwindling with the additions of Pearl, Crean, Musselman, and Barnes. Hope you enjoyed it while it lasted 😂😂😂 WDE 🦅🐅
2019 has one of the best sets of elite 8 games I've ever seen. Thanks!
UVA vs Purdue was stressful af 😂
2005 was the best
This 2018-19 Auburn team will hold a special place in my heart forever

Same. This was the best team to never win a National Championship.
Still the best NCAA tournament I've seen in a while. Auburn should have played for the title. They were cheated.
I do not see how the refs could have missed that double dribble off of Ty Jerome’s foot.

This was the biggest win in the history of Auburn's athletics program. Football included.

Second great game from my Kentucky basketball squad but mad respect for auburn

Bruce pearl is a good basketball coach.

I love his enthusiasm.

Jared Harper literally exposed Kentucky’s guards.
Not sure about exposing them, but Harper wore them down

Lawson Porter as a UK fan, i can confirm a lot of our fans are ridiculously arrogant. It’s really annoying.
Oliver Allan They didn’t sweep us. We beat them at Auburn and they beat us at Kentucky. Auburn went 2/3 against Kentucky that year.
