1980-something, I was around 20, working at Value Village on E. Hastings in Vancouver, it was summertime, this song had just come out. I remember getting off work in the early evening, walking out back of the building, seeing Downtown Vancouver in the distance shimmering away, life seemed endless and beautiful. This song always makes me think of that
I had a home room teacher in Toronto, Ontario named Mrs. Mc Fadden who was a hard ass. Milneford Jr. High. She told me about Gowan and how she knew him from her church. I was in detention for fighting. She taught me that day to be a man and respectable but it also got me onto Gowans music which at the time was hard because I was a metal fan. Once I heard his voice I was sold. Gowan is legend. He probably knows some of my buddies I grew up with. My friend Mike Gerard's brother Mathew played bass for Kim Mitchell. Very talented musician. Thank you for your music, and go Leafs go!
Massively under appreciated. Years ago talked to a music journalist at a show beack when Jeff Healey's was still around. Gowan came up and he summed him up well in that Gowan had undeniable talent but proved tricky to market. His sound was too rock for pop and too pop for rock. Much like Hanoi Rocks being to metal for punk and too punk for metal. They kind of slipped through the cracks in mainstream music.
okay, l want to know why "Gowan" is not listed in any of the Canadian Juno's, Canada's list of male singers, or bands. It really "Pisses me off". I watched a few different sources of Canadian Bands/Song writers etc. From 1970 to present, there were bands l have never heard of before, and l have been on planet Earth since 1956. He has albums out since at least 1982 or so to present. Larry, what did you do to deserve this? You have been my favourite artist since " Its a Great Dirty World. I just don't get it.
He plays better than Deyoung too. He still does his own concerts in Canada. He really brings energy and his talent to Styx and was so excited to join the band. Finally got some appreciation from the US.
Absolutely gorgeous voice, & he's still got it.
GOWAN IS A CANADIAN ICON BARR NONE

He has won awards in Canada. That is strange they're not on the list. That's Canada for you.
OMG he still has it!!!
❤
Gowans still got it!😊
I think he should surprise the band and the audience too by showing up in a kilt. He'd have to war yoga shorts with it considering how he dances.
I dedicate this to uou Anata❤
A love song for werewolfs
I hope he lead the choir.
Keep him out of Styx - His catalogue is too good and he's rocking it here!
His own music is so much better and his voice is way better than Dennis Deyoung’s ever was. But I guess it’s a pay check right?
