I get some of the CGI being outdated, but at least everything was mot spelled out for us like future movies do now. The writing wasn’t bad. Everything that was set up had a conclusion. I always like the conclusion of the robots programmed to be good. I wish more writers explored that dichotomy. The family dynamics are fun to watch. I am not that crazy about the second film, but never get tired of this and the third one. They are funny and entertaining to watch.

Machete is a weird character. He has his own movies, made by the same director, played by the same actor (Danny Trejo), but he's not the same character as he is in Spy Kids.
I think its nice how spy kids was in a alternate world where essentially latinos or and Hispanics were the majority in the United States so you saw more influence in some of the shots. Which makes sense due to the fact this movie was made for more representation when it comes to latinos in family films. Also the fact that so many cameos from celebrities like Steve Buscemi, Salma Hayek, George Clooney, the dad literally being Antonio Banderas...just...wow. The films may have not been perfect but you cant say care wasnt put into them

I watched this movie religiously as a kid, and idk if it’s just me, but the scene where they swim by the sharks was NOT in the movie when I watched it. I distinctly remember them just swimming through and Carmen saying something about the water being warmer in a spot and Juny goes “sorry…”
The Dad is played by Antonio Banderas he is the voice actor for Puss in Boots. Another great Banderas film you might want to see is the Mask of Zorro. Great movie.

I like spy kids 1 and 2 but 2 the most. Couple reasons. 1. I quote Gary and Gerdy all the time. They’re so funny. Especially the “knew technology” line. 2. I like the scene where they fight skeletons. 3. When I was young I like the presidents daughters outfits. 4. The scene where they go to like a dinner and the adults fall asleep and the kids fight, I always thought was cool. And the part where gerdy presses her bracelets and her hair become propellers and she can fly. 5. The wife’s parents come and see them and she tells Gregorio he has something on his lip (which is his fake mustache) and she rips it off. I stay dying laughing at that part. 6. The scientist guy on the island, he is just my childhood. He raised me.

I used to ride rollercoasters back to back until the amusement park workers would kick me out and I even went skydiving once in college over 10 years ago. I went to Six Flags in 2016 and my dumb4ss decided to "warm up" with a wooden rollercoaster as i forgot just how bad wooden ones whip you around. I got off that thing slow as h3ll, let all the actual kids run past me, and hobbled straight over to get a $12 margarita before I sat down for a half hour. That was a good 2 years before I had my daughter so I genuinely don't know if i could go on a rollercoaster now when i can't even read on a train or in the car half the time 😭💀 how were my parents and other older family members doing this back in the day?!

I think I also liked that it reminded me of my family at the time, because it was me, my parents, and a kid brother. These movies are still so awesome. I can’t believe Robert Rodriguez predicted The Volume! Speaking of emergency alarms, one went off on my college campus when I was about to take a shower. Luckily, I opened the door when someone knocked, instead of getting in, because there was an actual gas leak on campus and they were having us evacuate to different spots on campus.

I also don’t remember them giving a story on how they met. I can’t lie…the dad was so cool in my eyes. Especially cause he was a musketeer as well. I grew up watching him act in so many movies
