Video is good fun. But the part I like best is the ending paragraph. I always tell my kids when we get ready to leave to find some trash and pick it up. Leave the area better than it was when you got there. Nice fish!
Great vid, and fishing with your dad happy days. If everyone cleaned up after themselves the world would be a better place. May the sun shine on you and yours.

Dude, them are great channel cats. Depending on the state your in, there could be a record channel cat in there. Here in ky the record is 32#. Great video, and yes I clean up after me and the inconsiderate ones too!!
+Ross McClure - Thanks for the comments and being one of the "good ones"... gotta change some of that negative perspective and reap the rewards... fish on
+Monica Grant I'm also from Kentucky, I usually go to Frankfurt at the fish and wildlife hq pond they got, the catfish are decent there but not nearly as close to 15-20 pounds :/
If you want to catch some big catfish use shrimp for bait. I use it when I fish the Chemung river for catfish. It works great. We have three species of catfish in the Chemung river the flathead channel and blue. That white albino catfish in the Chemung river nicknamed big sam is hybrid with all three species the flathead channel and blue. I don't know how rare that is. Great fishing Robert Gildea Romans 6:23

Marty Mac - Big, big public water. Any of the "5 top places to fish" in the "Sate of Jefferson" will produce fish like this... Timing and Bait is key :)
I'm so jealous...for 2 reasons.... that is an awesome catch.... and 2. I cannot find ANYONE to go fishing with in southwest ohio... I hit all the big lakes around here, but usually by myself... I love white bass, largemouth, smallmouth, crappie .... Occasionally I snag a saugeye ... great video... great catch...my favorite bait is a white rooster tail.... not big into live bait, but i can handle it...no prob
Keep after it... sounds like you have a good appreciation for the outdoors and fishing. I've formed some good friendships with people that I met fishing and only see when each of us show up in the same spots every year... no planning, just show up and fish together :)
Thx! ..dinner comes when the fishin's done!!.. tasty nuggets they were!! ..Did someone say Spring Catfishin is just around the bend and all the lakes have water.. Woop-Woop
+Ryan Hogan - Anchovy, cut in thirds, dipped in Tuna oil... I fish it on the bottom. Using a 3.0 hook, w/24" x 25# leader, clipped to a locking snap swivel, with a sinker slider moving on the 15# main line... leave the bail open and wait...
Keep on keepin' on... that's why we call it fishin'. If there's perch or crappie in the lake target some of those, then cut the head and tail off, stick a knife in the gut and fish it like you normally would. You might be surprised at what rears it's wiskery face :)
Nate McCombs i live in il and catch about 10 a day and all over 9 pounds and a 7 pounder every once in a while use hotdogs or shad and you will start too see better results
Some years are better than others and this was a good one! We're fishing whole herrings, cut in half at the guts, dipped in tuna oil. My other video "Using cut bait to catch BIG catfish", shows the rig and bait. Will be posting a new one on "How to Tie an Egg Loop knot to hold Cut Bait".

1moonbuggy Yea I've noticed that too. The little cats eat up the liver and such the big fish prefer live food. The problem I have is hooking my bait fish. I think this is amazing. I go fishing all the time I'm only 12 and a girl. I ketch catfish all the time down bye a lil creeck bye my house I caught a 13 pound catfish from using a strawberry
That is awesome. Had you used strawberries for bait before?? I've heard of using grapes in the summer when they're falling off the vines, never tried it tho...
+tokiesgalore - Big spawning Carp... would make for some fun bow-fishing! Speaking of... Brownlee Res. on the Snake River has a Big Carp Bow tournie in late spring... big fish and crazy home built boats/shooting platforms
Well after a little chuckle, I gave it some thought... Back in my logging days we used to say, "never holler 'ho' on a hard pull". So when I'd hook a tuff "turn" of logs, I'd tell the operator to "put some mustard on it"... in reference to "pouring coal" or "putting heat" to the boiler (steam boiler "donkeys" were used to yard logs back in the day). Basically, I'm making a colorful reference to the amount of pressure the rod puts on the fish :)
+Jake Radcliff - Sad and with no thought for the consequences. While fishing here my year old pup ate a discarded stink-bait holder with treble hook and leader attached... I worried I'd lose her and blamed myself, she's my little one. It took two days to find out what made her sick. Not something anyone should have to go through due to inconsiderate entitled people... So thanks for helping clean up the "garbage" and... picking up the trash :) ..."Kid, a person can be smart, but people are stupid..." MIB
+will bill - Worms :) ...not really. No; hot-dogs, chicken, stink-bait, shrimp, garlic or grapes!!! CUT-BAIT, preferably bait-fish from where you're fishing. I did best with Crappie, had a few bites on Anchovie and Herring... best was fresh water fish from the lake. Fish for bait, then Fish :)
They're salmon and steelhead rods designed for PacNW rivers. Super sensitive tips with blank thru design for a stiff back-bone. They allow for casting long leaders (tuff to cast a six foot leader with a six foot rod), working fish around or under the boat and afford solid side pessure when turning hot fish... And they work great on BIG catfish. Here fishey...
Channel cat take a very long time to get that big. Sad to see them go. Anything over ten pounds should be let go. They are a reproductive means for the water.
Bryce Coffman - So you're hoping for a date?... get her number, leave us out of it and take her out for some Farm(dog food) -raised(in poo) Sushi..... enjoy
Since I think you can keep a secret and no one else is listening.... in the State of Jefferson, at the top of "no name ridge" is the spring head for "can't remember creek", follow that downhill to the impoundment and then you've found it... :)

man I hate the croc roll these big brown trout I fish for in TN do the croc roll I lost a 5 pound trout last week cause he was doing the croc roll had 6 pound test on and snapped it like nothing he pulled the drag way out down river
Now we're getting somewhere... Keep those fat cats alive on a stringer and/or wet gunny sack until you're ready to cut their tail, no more yellow catfish meat, just clean white flakey fillets :) Great input
You can wack 'em on the head, right before cutting the tail, so it's knocked out... But the general idea is to allow the heart to pump the blood out of the vessels to increase the quality of the fare. Proper handling and care of the catch is how I show respect for the harvest and those that enjoy the bounty :)
Fifteen to thirty minutes... enough time to set up the cutting table, get out the hose and sharpen the knives. Next, the fillets go straight into the Food Saver and then the freezer.
No channel cats are not that big. If i remember correctly the record channel is 46lbs. The big fish that we catch here are Flat heads and blues. I caught a 45 lb Flathead last week.
I've only ever caught small catfish. Make no mistake, I take 'em home, skin 'em, clean 'em and eat 'em up. I'd love to see a video on cleaning those big bastards. How 'bout it?
Lawson Poling - I like it. Big or small, we eat 'em all... just like Grampa used to :) I'll shoot the fillet process and post that up after this next trip... thanks for the suggestion. Bent Rods and cold beverages to ya!
..there's that... Then there's the: no attractant shall be used or placed in the water so as to attract fish without being attached to a legal hook, line and rod attended by a licensed angler... just sayin'..
Thanks for the BIG thumbs-up... you're right, this was a pretty special trip for us as well... it doesn't happen like this with-out lots of good ju-ju :)
Take a close look at that first fish I can tell you right now that was a brown bullhead catfish u.s record is 8.4 pounds I'm pretty sure that was a bullhead
Tell me why you think that fish is a bullhead. You are not a professional fishermen or else you would be trying to argue that obvious channel cats are bullheads. Bullheads have rounded tails, channel catfish have forked tails. That is a fact, give me one fact that would suggest either of these fish are bullheads
First off the fish that I cought is a bullhead tail is like a flathead no v in it and second I'm arguing because I know what it is and some people could learn a thing or 2
Well boys, not to be a buzz kill, since you're having so much fun... without profanity or spell checking, I'm going jump in here... Them thar is be sum big fat channel No.5 wiskers fishes... or not? To see more, watch: How to catch BIG catfish with cut bait- bank fishing success
Please tell me that you did not release it after you caught it...I REALLY hate that!!!! Get some canola oil, a cast-iron skillet, season salt or Old Bay seasoning, black pepper, a catfish batter or some cornmeal, some hot sauce and mustard WITH a couple of beers, AND DINNER IS SERVED, BABY!!!!!!!! Add a side of grits and some collard greens...and you won't get up from the dinner table!!!!
I didn't want to go fishing today because I wanted to go to the shooting range and blast off my guns...after watching this video...I'm fucking going fishing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wasn't gonna go shooting till the weather cools down... now I've gotta go do it. I just boresighted my sporterized 6.5x55 swede M94 carbine. It's a 1911 Carl Gustav, w/bipod and CP 4-16x40 scope... Thanks the push as well as the thumbs up and tuning in :)
Yep, just fillet all the "color " off the meat(reddish lines on skin side) and trim the yellow fat to a minimum. Now ya got the best tasting flakey white fish there is... better than Ocean fish in my opinion. Mmmm... fish tacos, pescado al mojo de ajo, nuggets and hushpuppies. Time to hit the pond!!
Video is good fun. But the part I like best is the ending paragraph. I always tell my kids when we get ready to leave to find some trash and pick it up. Leave the area better than it was when you got there. Nice fish!
you sir.. and your kids, get a BIG thumbs up :) Happy fishing

what baits u are using fir catching cat big so big??
...cut up bait-fish. The kind they prey on; shad, crappie, perch or kokanee salmon work best. I like to dip the pieces in tuna or shrimp oil to help disperse the scent trail as well...

Proper handling and care of the catch is how I show respect for the harvest and those that enjoy the bounty :)
1moonbuggy love it... about how long does it take em to bleed out?
Fifteen to thirty minutes... enough time to set up the cutting table, get out the hose and sharpen the knives. Next, the fillets go straight into the Food Saver and then the freezer.
So if I catch fish from here,I too shall be this ripped
You call that a "BIG" catfish? Where I come from a BIG catfish is 60 lbs, not 17. We catch 20lb ers regularly.
jbhuger Bragger
Sorry if I sounded like I was bragging. But it is the truth.
J. B. Huger for that breed of cat there not bad at all
J. B. Huger - Are we talking Channel Catfish? Let the back-peddling begin... "um, well, er' they had wiskers and...."
Bent Rods and cold beverages to ya!
wer is this wat state and wer
What i do is i take a ten can and drill holes in it and put chicken liver in it and cast it in the water so u can get a bunch of catfish to bite
..there's that... Then there's the: no attractant shall be used or placed in the water so as to attract fish without being attached to a legal hook, line and rod attended by a licensed angler... just sayin'..
biggest channel cat ive ever seen
roma kozlovsky - Me too! And the biggest I'd caught to this point... But, I've been fishing so stay tuned...
don't hold the fish with your hand in the gills you could brake bones and could also could really hurt the fish if you are doing cach and release
+Gadge Miller - Yeah, big Cats have strong boney gill plates that can crush fingers and I always release them into my freezer cache... B-)
They get released in to my frezer ti
;3
I know someone who caught 200 pounds of fish in two hours.. They only caught five fish maybe
Look at them fish jumping at 4:48! They are begging for some attention!
this is huge fishing, who didn't try to nail catfish, that one doesn't know and thinks it's easy. nope. fishing like this takes some expertise. ..
Thanks for the BIG thumbs-up... you're right, this was a pretty special trip for us as well... it doesn't happen like this with-out lots of good ju-ju :)
oh yeah...nice
...keeping the dream alive till next time :)
kid movie's
Nice guns
there was a fish jumped up
Golden Bonefish... spawning Carp, the bait fish come for the eggs, the catfish come for the bait fish and I'm there... for the scenery ;-)~
4:40 people walk by in the backround
... and left some litter to be picked up :(... Garbage breeds like rabbitts
wow big catfish
Is it bad that I just came to watch this video to see the guy shirt less
..pretty straight foward, but General consences is.. No.. :) thx for the compliment, much appreciated.. Fun!! :)
Take a close look at that first fish I can tell you right now that was a brown bullhead catfish u.s record is 8.4 pounds I'm pretty sure that was a bullhead
The first fish he catches is 100% channel cat
Bobby s dude are you fucking stupid I'm a pro catfisher men not I know catfish not only that I have have a buddy that's a fish breader
Kevin James -That's what I'm talkin' ...and now I'm really hungry
Kevin James i hate fish lol
TheSlightlyHomosexualFeminist - Sorry Charlie... it's the chicken of the sea. We don't like fish with good taste, we like fish that taste good :)
+Kevin James tell me you don't get "catch n release" ? imagine that
If you don't love catfish, you shouldn't be fishing for them, and you're the ones who lack good taste.
hog-tacular lol reminds me of halo
Explain?... I know Hog-tacular, but what's halo
1moonbuggy halo is a video game
Huh, KO... how do they use "tacular""? ....at the end of words as well
I didn't want to go fishing today because I wanted to go to the shooting range and blast off my guns...after watching this video...I'm fucking going fishing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1moonbuggy Nice!
He is a good size for eating also nice and fat lot of meat on him :D
Yep, just fillet all the "color " off the meat(reddish lines on skin side) and trim the yellow fat to a minimum. Now ya got the best tasting flakey white fish there is... better than Ocean fish in my opinion. Mmmm... fish tacos, pescado al mojo de ajo, nuggets and hushpuppies. Time to hit the pond!!
