"Choose just one or two things to implement during your events to avoid information overload." That is the best advice I have heard yet. I hope to join the autocross family soon, and will never forget this!
+Ryan Flood Its really useful advice! I think I spent my whole second season working on reading the course and when I just concentrated on that I actually got so much faster. And as far as joining go for it! Just show up to an event and you'll be hooked! Just make sure your cars battery is tied down, you've got all your lug nuts on your tires and aren't showing wire and you should be good!
The whole explanation of what autocross is is 100% accurate. Autocross is all about having fun, not about winning. Why do you think I was in a 1992 Jetta in way too high of a class against a PT cruiser that was painted with house paint and had a license plate splitter last season?
Agree on most points except for the insurance part. You are only covered for liability damages but it does not cover your own vehicle and personal injury. Having said that autox is in general much safer than HPDE and I have only seen about 5 incidents in the last 13 yrs I have been doing these events.
how does some one figure out what class to put them self's in. I'm on coilovers, with a fixed back seat and schroth 4 point. down the road once I learn more I'll go for summer tires, a harness bar, and 5 point belts. it a all wheel drive subaru. so I guess I would be STX ?
I would think STX but definitely look on the scca website or your local regions Facebook. Usually there’s someone in every region that can just look at a car and go “yep, stx” and they’re always really helpful! Is it a wrx??

This was very good! And spot on from my perspective👍👍👍

+YourCarBro Matt is a great resource, he's put a lot of time into this stuff!
I got a 2011 gmc Canyon with a 2.9. And I'm going to get it set up for autocross for next year. The truck set up way to high

I just saw my car - Mazda 2! Lol, and here I was thinking that I needed to get another car for autox.
I had a National champion tell me automatic transmission is the way to go.
is that a MALAYSIAN AIRLINES (MAS) plane.....@3:51...yes it is.....
Covered under scca insurance for liability but not your cars damage, just fyi
Any car will do, just save your money for tyres and seat time.
