The JUSTIFIED Execution Of Maria Mandl - The Beast Of Auschwitz

  • Towards the end of the Second World War in Europe, the true crimes of the Nazi regime were uncovered. The Red Army would come across Auschwitz Concentration Camp and would liberate the huge killing and extermination centre. They were greeted by a horrendous scene of depravity, death and hell on earth with thousands of prisoners left and abandoned to starve. The suffering inflicted within Auschwitz and the mass extermination would lead it to becoming one of the biggest sites associated with the Holocaust. Over 1.5 million prisoners would die within the walls of the camp.
One of the most sadistic and brutal guards of the camp was found within the women's camp of Auschwitz Birkenau. Maria Mandl (Mandel) was a female guard who would be known for her immense cruelty. She would regularly whip prisoners until they died as they could not take the suffering anymore. She was a horrifically cruel woman, who would also kill prisoners at random and inflict brutal beatings. Maria Mandl would also take part in the selection processes, sending those who weren't fit enough to work to the gas chambers.
It is estimated that Maria Mandl sent 500,000 people to their deaths during the Holocaust at different camps. She did flee during the end of World War Two but was captured and handed over to Polish officials, and placed on trials. During her trial evidence would be presented that shocked everyone, and for her horrific crimes and murders, Mandl was sentenced to death.
So join us today as we look at, 'The JUSTIFIED Execution Of Maria Mandl - The Beast of Auschwitz.'

There were Auschwitz survivors that lived in my neighborhood when I was a kid. Our favorite person to see was Mrs. R. She was the only survivor of her family to survive Auschwitz. She showed us the crude number that was tattooed on the inside of her arm and explained to us what it meant. She told us what happened and it was so horrifying that it was beyond belief. Her words still resonate with me today. She was the strongest woman I have ever met in my life and one who still stays in my heart. I loved her very much. The world needs to wake up because if we don’t, the same fate awaits us.

Yes, true, and what is scaring me is that even we cannot be sure about how we would have acted if in their place. I think I would have tried to be nice and protective but can I be sure? Daily propaganda, schooling, instructions, orders and pressure and the daily sight of these sad creatures who were and had to be considere unworthy sub-human beings would perhaps also have hardened my heart. If you are a nice character but do evil things, you begin to hate yourself. And if you hate yourself, you also hate others and you punish others because you see in others the reason for the hatred against yourself. It is a terrible vicious circle. There are of course evil and sadistic people by nature, no doubt about that, and especially totalitarian regimes wash such characters to the surface and into positions of power. Often the worst of them are not those on top of the hierarchie but those at the bottom of the ladder. And then there are those who are closing their eyes hiding from themselves what they are doing and sweeping their actions and feelings of shame under the rug. Then at home, they take a shower to wash off their deeds and play the lovable family member thus confirming that they are actually good.

I used to live some apartments some time ago and upstairs used to live an older Polish couple with their son. One day they invited us over for dinner and we had sauerkraut and cabbage with a bean soup I couldn't remember. I thought the bean soup was delicious. My parents talked to them about where they came (survived a foreign civil war, fled to the US, etc) and then they explained to us their circumstances from where they came from. They told us as young people they were sent to Auschwitz along with their parents, they didn't want to talk to much about it, but they did recall a woman who was particularly cruel, I had no idea who they were referring to, but now that I see this video, I think it makes sense. Both of their parents died in Auschwitz, they survived and got married, moved to the US, etc rest is history. Two of the nicest people you'd ever meet. We attended both their funerals when they passed both in their 90's. RIP. A lot of interesting characters lived in those apartments, pornstars, a few disney artists, even had a guy who was the son of a military general under the shah of Iran. Boy did they have stories to tell.

I agree to a point, but I starts somewhere. Make an enemy of people who disagree with you, political parties let’s say, no big deal probably, except of course the other people are evil. Make an enemy of people who are different than you, transgender people let’s say, maybe dehumanize them a little, getting to be a bigger deal but probably won’t affect you plus they’re weird, so whatever. Those are just two examples. Just keep taking these little steps in an environment of multi-channel propaganda and constant us-versus-them rhetoric and voila, here we go. And let’s not equivocate, both sides are not equal here. There is one that could easily perpetrate the evils we’re watching here-the same ones who thought we needed an insurrection, the same ones itching for another civil war.

There are people who would do much the same thing. The ideological differences between Nazis and the Second KKK were slight. The hatreds were much the same (except that the KKK was ferociously anti-Catholic). Both were against organized labor. Both similarly hated Jews and blacks.
A Klan-dominated America would have been every bit as evil as Nazi Germany. This has nothing to do with nationality but instead with the virulent hatred that one associates with vicious people.
I find the "Nazi" smear inappropriate for people who do not fit the racism, religious bigotry, totalitarianism, militarism, and anti-worker stances of Nazis. Something makes mass murder possible, and I am not going to excuse a mass murderer like Stalin for being on a lesser scale or having different objectives.
OK, Schuschnigg and Metaxas were fascists, but they didn't do mass murder even if they had the opportunity. Yes, I do compare Saddam Hussein and ISIS to the Nazis.

What is often overlooked is that some of the worst war criminals were Austrians, and not Germans. Besides Mandl, there were other Austrians such as Franz Stangl (the commandant of Treblinka), Odilo Globocnik (oversaw the extermination of Polish Jews), and the planner of the Holocaust itself: Adolf Eichmann. After the war, Austria would claim it was just another of Hitler's victims. Austrian antisemitism rivaled anything the Germans had. Something that to this day the country avoids talking about.

20000-30000 german soldiers of the Wehrmacht were officially executed because of insubordination.
You have to adopt in such an unmoral system. I do not believe that all of these SS guards were evil.
I bet, that there were SS guards, which refused to execute orders. Then they were transferred to the eastern front in case of refusing orders again.
The interesting point is, what would you do to get around the eastern front.
We have to consider the fact, that the eastern front or any front in a war is a bloody horror.
Can you take this horror instead of a job as a guard in a camp? THAT is the real question.

To enjoy watching people suffer and inflict such pain for the simple pleasure of doing so shows just how low we are able to stoop. They made a movie about her also, "Out of the Ashes", it's posted on TH-cam also, however, the movie is significantly different than the book.
I think I read somewhere that once a woman prisoner escaped, she was caught and to be hanged. Someone slipped her a razor blade and she managed to injure one or more Germans as they were preparing to hang her. The Germans beat her badly, nearly to death. As she was being carted to the krema, Mandl apparently screamed "burn her alive".

Just a little while longer, and the wicked will no longer exist; you will look where they were, and they will no longer be there. But the meek will inherit the earth and fully enjoy of abundant peace."
      Second-Promise recorded in Isaiah 25: 8 says:
"He will remove death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe the tears from all faces. He will remove from all the earth the disgrace of his people, for Jehovah himself has spoken."
There ate more good news; have a pleasant day.

I have read quite a lot about Maria Mandl and have become really interested in her and the accusations against her, so this comment interests me. It’s rare to see anyone try to argue that Maria may not have been as complicit as she is made out to be. Most articles/videos about her online claim that she was a sadist and that she had absolutely no remorse or human feeling towards any of the people in the camps. However I feel that a lot of these videos could be exaggerated, biased or misinformed, and I’d be really interested to talk with you about the information you’ve found about Maria and your opinions on her and whether she is as guilty as she is thought to be. Personally, I can’t make my mind up. I believe that she was very strict to prisoners and hit them with her hand as punishment (as she admitted this herself), however I’m unsure whether to believe the stories about her kicking prisoners to death and stealing infants and children from their mothers. It sounds bad to say, but sometimes I think a lot of the stories sound dramatised or theatrical, almost like something out of a movie, and I struggle to understand (if the horror stories about her are true) how she came to be this way when her childhood friends (in a documentary) have claimed that she was very nice and friendly before she worked in the camps. However I do believe that sometimes power and control can bring out ugly behaviour in people, and she may have changed as a result of the environment and situational factors in the camps…so deep down I know it could be true. I also struggle to understand why so many witnesses and victims would lie, if these stories about her are not true, why did so many victims give false testimony and describe Mandl as being even worse than even some other Nazi guards?
I’d love to hear your opinions or any insights you have, if there is any way we could talk through email or even here in the comments, I’d be grateful. Sorry for the long comment. Thanks :)

@@michellelambert8729 Ambiguous. The prisoners of the Nazis were obviously quite human, and that is what makes abusing, exploiting, and killing them so horrible. We would not tolerate what was done with the victims of the Nazis if such were done to horses.
Someone who trained the dogs to attack prisoners is in effect a murderer... I do not deny that people convicted of even the most horrific crimes still have human motivations while in prison. Usually a criminal defendant has the right to appeal a sentence and has some right to avoid treatments not prescribed by law.

@@paulbrower4265 I didn't mean to be ambiguous. I've known about the Nazis training those killer dogs for awhile. And I've always just called them people eating dogs. When they caught that guy here in Atlanta area he said they trained them in Berlin. He knew he was busted and wasn't even denying it. He got deported to Germany, not real sure what became of his wife & daughter. I think those hounds were horrifying. I don't know how they would train a dog to do that.

@@michellelambert8729 Understood. I see these dog attacks no better than the Romans casting Christians to bears and Big Cats -- except that lions were less likely to kill humans in broad daylight. (Lions leave people alone by day. At night it is a different story).
The Nazis fed live inmates to a bear at the neighboring Buchenwald Zoo.

When the Rosenbergs were executed by electric chair in the U.S., the husband, who was very nervous while awaiting execution , was led first to the chair, to spare him the suffering of having to wait while his wife was killed .
