    I've been working on time blocking and batching for a while now, but it never occurred to me to track what I'm currently doing with my time FIRST! That's genius, thank you!

    I love time blocking, so important since I’m in graduate school! Do you have any tips about theming my day while in school? I thought about making each day a specific class but so much changes as far as assignments in the short term that i feel like it wouldn’t work.

    • @Amalia.s.8059
      @Amalia.s.8059 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’m also in grad school right in in NYC and it’s all virtual. When I use my planner I theme my days by which days I have classes, which days are just study days, and then I leave one day for home tasks and one for self care & family. For my study themed days I time block sections of three hours to study and then take breaks, but because assignments always vary I don’t plan ahead of time which classes to do. I just decide the day of based on which assignments are most important and require the most time. So week to week it’s varies but the days I dedicated to studying remain the same. Hope this helps.

      @@Amalia.s.8059 I am not virtual and currently taking 20 credit hours in pharmacy school. I am always studying because we have 1-2 large exams a week. What do you do for large exams? I feel like each week is so different that it would be hard for me to create that kind of routine.

      @@oliviabuquet1918 try the pomodoro study method. You can still use time blocking and study based on priority but you’ll prob have to set times each study when you’re available to study and try and pomodoro method. I also use an app called forest and it helps me stay focused and time my study sessions. It helps me figure out which classes require more time and energy. And remember with high education study planning things are always changes so our schedules and techniques need to be flexible and adaptable.

    • @oliviabuquet1918
      @oliviabuquet1918 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Amalia.s.8059 i do like pomodoro a lot and i didn’t even think of putting sessions in my planner! And i have learned to plan in pencil. Especially with corona and some hurricanes this semester has truly been one with a lot of erasing 😂😂

    • @Amalia.s.8059
      @Amalia.s.8059 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@oliviabuquet1918 I totally understand it’s a new habit I’m trying so I don’t get overwhelmed at the last minute with all my hw and I can stay on top of my work and not fall behind lol 😂 Also try checking out Amanda v Sevilla she posted a bunch of videos in the summer on her channel of her pomodoro studying sessions to prep for grad school. Maybe some of her techniques might help you with your the types of courses your studying. And just keep trying diff techniques maybe one study method works for a class but a diff method works better for another class. It’s not always one size fits all you know.

    I'm not great at time blocking. I find it both helpful and anxiety inducing. Like I feel good when I accomplish the task but then feels bad if not accomplished etc.

    • @TheOrganizedMoney
      @TheOrganizedMoney  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Try and give yourself some leeway. I try to make your blocks larger that helps to ease anxiety.

    Hi Alaina! Thank you for sharing these tips! During my planning, I usually just erase things that didn't work out to avoid confusing myself. But by erasing it, I kind of lose important information about what is working and what is not. So, I was looking for simple solutions to track my time better. And your tip about writing a checkmark or if something was canceled in another pen color is so simple and effective! I'll try that. Thank you! (I'm enjoying your content a lot!)

    I plan to introduce batching into my system to stay on schedule with my podcast. I'm going to have a writing day for my outlines and a audio day to record episodes. I'm hoping this will keep me 6-8 weeks ahead at all times.🙂🙏🏾 #taskbatching

    I bought the hourly calendar based on a earlier video of yours. The thing collected dust all year (a total waste of money). I am going to try it for the rest of November and December. We will see how it goes. I am still so undecided to my system for 2021.

    I love time blocking. I work in procurement so it helps alot. Mon/wed theme is baby purchases. tues/thurs is placing items out for bid. friday is catch up day. I time block for just reviewing specifications etc. and then i'll set up a different time block to place the items out for public bid. So a good chunk will close at the same time and i know that after they close i'll set a time block to award them etc. and it works great for me. I noticed when i first started that switching mindsets back and forth was exhausting so batching and blocking is the best lol
