I'm in this video and I still love watching it! Brings back a lot of great memories! And this was one of our best performances. We were in Norway for a week and did three nights. All for a full house! Let me tell you, we were all shitting our pants nervous! We executed what we trained for perfectly (except for one minor error, I won't tell you where its at!) We stayed with the Norway Army Drill team at their barracks and they were awesome. Nothing but love for the Norwegian people. They were some of the nicest people I've ever met. Anyway, thanks to everyone for all of the positive comments. It is appreciated!
@Matthew GREAT job. I was in the Army, but my dad is retired Navy w/ the CBs. He is getting up in age now, but when I showed him this, he started getting teary-eyed (in a good way). Over the years dad has talked about his experiences down in Gitmo, and he always has pride when talking about his Navy days, so when he saw this, it was a pleasure for him (and myself) to watch. Thanks!
I was on the drill team while in US Navy boot camp in Orlando, Fl. in the summer 1987. We used similar techniques while performing during the graduation ceremonies. The uniforms, tassels, neck scarf, side slaps, rifle bunts, twirls. The climax came when the drill team leader walked through a synchronized barrage of hurled rotating rifles/ baronets. This takes long hours of practice and dedication- BZ shipmates!
+Danie Herrin It's one thing to spin and toss a modern drum corps-style rifle that's basically a lightweight blank stock. It's something else again to do so with a real, functioning rifle (Springfield?) that probably weighs 5-6 lbs, even withOUT bayonets affixed. Well done.
I was a member of the team when I was in the Navy and all the training and prep was done during our off time. Yes, it was after we completed our regular work day. It took a lot of effort, discipline, time and dedication to made it and the pride after accomplishment is forever with you. The parade program is equally as impressive. Great performance. Be proud my Brothers.
Beautiful, outstanding, unreal. Lot's of hours of practice. I serve my country in the army and I know how hard is to do what those boys did. Respect from Romania !
I was in TOG 1963-66 Co.E and we always considered Navy the best at it after ourselves. This USN drill team of 2007-08 is the best I've seen hands down. AF Drill Team these days is very good while The Crotch Drill Team from 8th&I is perpetually boring. I was in JFK Funeral but USN Eddie Nemuth was the Number One of the grim time carrying Potus flag behind the caisson and inside all the time and throughout three days and nights. Eddie marched a couple of hundred miles behind the caisson during the funeral while the rest of us in the armed forces switched off day to day. Eddie Nemuth was there all the way and was Number One of armed forces ceremonial guards through all of it. My bro was Navy on an emergency standby flying team to service nuclear subs power plants. Navy: can't win without 'em.
I did this in high school, though not with bayonets. There's a lot going on here. The most impressive thing is the consistency of the spins and tosses. Every member has to toss at the same height and speed and at the same time to get this effect. The choreography is pretty but it's the least difficult part. It also takes a lot of time to get just the basic spin down. This isn't like tossing around a dowel rod. Those rifles look like old Springfield's and their weight is not evenly distributed, plus the slings can make grabbing it awkward. Add to that the diversity of types of spins and tosses and you can see why this is impressive. Not necessarily useful in combat but it is a morale booster.
Shady Crzy yeah, I practiced this in highs hill too. We used rifles that weighed 8 pounds and the slings were taped down (which effectively made them rifle shaped sticks) but these guys must have 12 or more pound rifles with un-tied slings and bayonets in the way
I teared when the colors were presented. It is a huge honor to be chosen to protect the Flag of the US. That flag stands for freedom and these sailors are sworn to protect us and the Flag of the US with their lives. Its a grievous act to disrespect this.
This is one of my favorite drill routines,The Video is saved in my favorites for the past 5 years, the Squids did extraordinarily well with this one. As an Army guy I tip my hat to the discipline and training to carry off such a intricate drill with no errors or mistakes.
iTacticalRaccoon Navy is a very, very important branch if not the most important in modern military history. World war 2, Korea, vietnam, desert storm, iraqi freedom, enduring freedom....... If you consider the Marines part of the navy then the navy alone is the best branch. Lol

Bill Turner Wrong Bill, these guys are but military puppets who do nothing else but ceremonial drill their entire career. A lot of use that will be when they lover to become a civilian.
***** I dispute that my comments were "wrong". And yes, they do make careers of it. That is their choice. What they do when they become civilians is not our business. What they represent is what is important. There are thousands such men and women all over the world who do this. I doubt they would agree that they are "puppets". Try saying something nice. You might feel better about yourself. Or don't say anything at all.
***** Most of these guys are enlisted and served on active duty doing something else for quite a while before becoming apart of the ceremonial guard much the same with the Air Force Honor Guard Drill team, US Marine corps silent drill Platoon and U.S. Army 3rd Infantry regiment Drill team. No one's MOS is Drill Team this is something done out of pride and not a career and most don't even make it and very few that do get to perform.

As a US Naval veteran I am so proud of these guys I salute them Show them how it's done guys!!!!!OORAH!!!! And they being a tear to my eye and I am so touched at the lovely reception by the Norwegian people Thanks Norway!!!!
I think this is absolutely amazing - not only the officer has to trust the abilities of his men, as they are throwing their weapons all around him and pointing them at him, they also need to trust their officer not to move in some unexpected way, so they wouldn't hurt him. I'm absolutely awed at the show of their skills! And not only that - this whole video is a picture of badassery. I applaud you, guys!
absolutely breath taking!!! enables me to appreciate my military even more than I do now for all the men and women do for our country. Thank-you veterans and present soldiers for the job you do for our freedom! Douglas Radowick
The Navy has utilized everything from flintlock pistols to 16 inch guns in it’s over two hundred years of service to our country. The Navy has fought a multitude of land and sea battles in that time frame. The service, I assure you, is quite adept with firearms and associated drill. These young sailors performed brilliantly.
Old WAC here...these young men did an outstanding job. Really outstanding. My oldest son was Navy, following his grandfather and great-grandfather. Youngest followed my example, enlisting in the Army. Very proud of you all!
There are words to adequately describe the precision skill and patriotism demonstrated by these patriotic US Navy sailors and I'm glad that the Norwegians liked it.
According to Max Boot (2006), "To learn how to make soldiers . . . they updated the drill of the Roman Legions for a modern gunpowder battle field. . . . Although there are other methods, drill contributes to warfare by creating a sense of cohesion within a military unit. For the most part, I think every US veteran can appreciate this video because it displays hard work and discipline and even though these sailors aren't hard fighting men, their drill movements embodies dedication. MrTmn2401, are they good field operators? They belong to the United States Navy, the most powerful Navy that EVER sailed the seas. The U.S. is criticized for a lot of things, but one thing they do very well is military readiness and response. The U.S. Navy is more powerful than the next 10 nation's navies combined. There's no doubt that they are good field operators.
Manual Overide Gaming Asking him to shut up after the absurd patriot from Denmark that he's replying to did his piece is laughable. To simply make empty claims about the superior performance of an army that has never seen combat and has never won any battle is pretty laughable. It's simply a fact that the US military is far more capable than anything else on the planet. A direct result of the amount of resources the US pumps into its armed forces.

"Practice, practice , practice. You got to apply yourself." That's what a Northern Irish fellow told me once, though that was about me learning English. Still, I think it's much the same deal here. Glorious performance.
seems funny they have their bayonets taped onto the rifles. We never taped our when I was in the Marine Corps Presidential Honor Guard.. They did do a nice job..
well funny. this video isn't about the damn silent drill team. USNCG Drill team also doesn't use m1 garand's like the silent drill team. Different rifle, different bayonet, different needs.
Amira Willighagen is a Dutch opera singer whose incredible voice landed her the winning spot on the 6th season of Holland’s Got Talent… Oh, and when she won she was 9 years old. Since winning Holland’s Got Talent, Amira has continued to grow as a professional singer. In the video below, she gives an incredible rendition of “O Sole Mio” in front of a captive audience in South Africa. At the time of the concert, Amira was 12 years old… but her voice is powerful beyond her years!

These guys are just started in the navy. 2 hash stripes is just above the seaman recruit. These men are very good.
I'm watching this in 2019!
Real bajonettes? In case: One wrong throw and there goes you liver?
those are real.. during my time there I've seen many slices and cuts.. including to myself
Rickey Stuckey #DoItLikeRealMen
+bndoc they can still do damage
paper cut
so what...soldiers are made for it...salute to them...
Perfect! Great training, total self-control, concentration. Looks like a ballet. Greatest from Russia!
This isn't ''flash'' Mr this is perfection and dedication at it's very best. Wish the brits were more like this instead of just standing like statues.
"Practice, practice , practice. You got to apply yourself." That's what a Northern Irish fellow told me once, though that was about me learning English. Still, I think it's much the same deal here. Glorious performance.
U.S. military is the best and finest in the world.🙂
At the Moment
молодцы очень круто
seems funny they have their bayonets taped onto the rifles. We never taped our when I was in the Marine Corps Presidential Honor Guard.. They did do a nice job..
Probably don't want a bayonet flying into the audience.
Why not? We never taped them on in the Marine Corps at 8th and I..
+Dan Smith It was a safety risk. The upper chain ensured that every bayonet was taped down as a precaution.
we never did that on the Marine Corps silent drill team..
well funny. this video isn't about the damn silent drill team.
WOW! Can't think of another comment. Proud of our military!!
