love this series..all the actors did a great job...fell in love with Francois Arnaud after watching him steal the show ..loved David Oaks I Sean Harris & Holly Granger too..Jeremy Iorns always plays his parts so well..so sorry they did not get to do a fourth year..
i read an interview with david oakes where he mentions how him and jeremy irons got along really well and did a lot of improv together for the show...would be awesome if showtime released clips of the improv
I think it is a shame that hey never really involved the Holy Roman Empire in the series, as it was very much involved, with the northern Italy being a part of it in that period. It would have been awesome to see Emperor Maximilian 1.
I read somewhere the reason for the the series' cancellation at the time was Showtime was set to release a new show to replace the Borgias called The Vatican.
One thing I don't understand is why if they where a Spanish family why they have very British accents, but others like Alfonzo have the correct accent?
Because they are actors maybe? I personally prefer a good actor with his natural accent only focusing on the acting itself rather than also trying to hit the right accent with the risk of getting the acting wrong.
'Because they are actors' Isn't that what actors do? Totally absorb another person into their own body so the only part that is them is their shell? If they put part of 'themselves' into the character then they are part playing themselves, part playing someone else. Some poor actors just read out lines whilst being themselves, that's what happens when you first learn acting, then you gradually learn to become the other person. If you actually try to 'act' most people are unconvincing. That's just me though, I really hate it when big names get to the point of being so big that they end up playing themselves in things but with a different name, I just find it lame. Its all down to personal taste though I guess and our own standards of art, perfection, beauty etc I'm rather stupid sometimes that if I watch something where everyone has accents I actually think they have not been talking in english, or it puts a nationality under their name. (I loved the Borgias and the acting very much, more than most things I have seen, so my comment is nothing to do with any of the actors/actress's in it but is directed at your comment alone)
Algonso is hilarrious xD during the season where he was still alive I saw his name was augustus prew, the sane guy from majir crimes season two last episode. And hell, he grew up from that little voicecrack of his.
Madam Zanzibar I thought the same. The French had their accents and so did the British. And many actors do learn the accents of the characters they are portraying.

Each episode was worth €2.5M on average, so Showtime thought it wasn't worth continuing it.
