    You inspired me to go looking! Found them on the trail I frequent! Took my first spore print using your video as reference, and I can’t wait to try them!!

    Question for you... me and my partner found some Prince mushrooms tonight close to a Waste Management Facility (incinerator) and got a bit concerned once back home when we read on wiki that these mushrooms are known to bioaccumulate the metal cadmium (which is quite bad for our health). It said "Specimens collected near metal smelters and urban areas have a higher cadmium content". Do you think we should be concerned about eating these? And when do you feel confident about consuming them when found in the city for instance?
    Thank you so much in advance for your help!
    Love your videos! They have been helping me lots on my new journey to mushroom foraging :)

      I guess it would be dependent on how close it is to actual chemicals or fallout or debris, but I also think unless you're eating them all the time from that spot it's probably fine to eat them once or twice.

    What might appear on the paper, if not a chocolate-brown spore print? What does a failed test for agaricus mushrooms look like?

    • @mushroomwonderland1

      Well, if it's not dark chocolate brown, then you can rule out an agaricus species.. and then your work begins from there. The way that the big veil (or ring) on the stem was on this mushroom and the scales on the stem, if it were a white spore print I might think some type of Amanita, but that's because I know what color Amanita spores are. There are several keys to consider before you get to the spore print. The first one being that it has gills, and then the veil, and then the size, and then the base of the stipe(stem). If you get a good mushroom guide, read in the first chapter or two it will talk about "keys" to identifying mushrooms. Sometimes finding out what they aren't is just as important as finding out what they are.

    If they smell anything like the Agaricus horse or meadow mushroom .. they smell like Marzipan or ameretto to me... I can't wait to find some this Spring!

    From my mushroom guides, it appears that the Prince and Panthercaps could be confused. Are there things to look for before the spore print?

    • @mushroomwonderland1
      @mushroomwonderland1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Definitely, the prince is going to have dark colored spores, which will turn the gills a dark color. Panther caps are white spored amanitas, even when old the gills will remain white. Also the prince has very almondy smell panther cap no distinguishable odor. The scaling on the cap of agaricus Augustus (the prince) will be quite shaggy and very different from the flakes of Vail remnants left over on the cap of Amanita pantherinoides.
