Poor Fanny! She spelled 'muscles' as 'mussels'. It was a few years later that an expert on dyslexia noticed that Fanny's constant bad spelling had an unusual pattern to it. This doctor helped her get help for the problem.
I think her problem was she was misunderedumacated In amerika. Why would you be on a show where you had to constantly write You didn t see ray charles or stevie wonder on bowling for dollars
Steve Allen was at Richard Dawson's wedding to Diana Dors in 1959 and was a godparent to his younger son Gary (along with Liberace, Terry-Thomas and Pamela Mason.)
Studio 33 was a huge complex in Burbank. Inside that building were multiple theaters. Each show had their own theater. I saw The Tonight Show Show there in the early 1980s. Each theater had its own parking lot entrances and lobbies. That show had somewhere between 350 to 450 people per show I'd estimate.
at 22:00, the contestant GARY gave the really best selection of an answer for what ACTORS would be appearing in at a Hollywood Unemployment office---COSTUMES. Steve's answerer was barely O.K. but better suited for a Beverly Hills Office. BUY Brett's and Charles' answers were 'down-right' pathetic stupid, and conceited. Fact---though I really love the show, the old 'urban myth' that the Celebrities 'purposely HAD to skew their responses in-order to give a Loosing answer. Thus more than likely resulting in the Contestant's defeat. IF, more of the Producers' shenanigans and 'arm-twisting' to LIMIT just how much money was going out the door and the tactics of the judges that was used would have lead to a Congressional Investigation, as was done in the 1950s----lol....PLUS, the excessive Celebrity Drinking....Haaaaaaaaaaaaa
He said, "Girls" and they matched "Street walkers"? That's general to specific and neglects male street walkers too. Sometimes the judges are completely arbitrary.
Listen for the cute little hiccup during Johnny Olson's slateboard intro.. This is the closest thing to flub you'll ever hear...from my make-believe dad.
It was for comedic effect - he's done it more than once. He also read it like he was bored to tears or half asleep several episodes back before introducing the panelists and Gene with his usual Johnny O. vigor.
Not even one game! They started the show in the middle of round one, and by the time they were done, there was no time left for the Super Match! So, basically, what was a single game stretched out over three episodes!
Kay Ballard was an odd bird, but at least she was far more pleasant than Kaye Stephens. It's too bad the Rosie O'Donnell-looking lady didn't have more episodes. And wouldn't the roaming street walkers be at a restaurant in Nerdo Crumbesia? ;)
Kay Ballard and Charles Nelson in Riley were the first two homosexuals on any TV show. Not until Ellen was there any gay to openly declare their sexual preference and be accepted by most of America.
I don't know if that's true or not but remember Paul Lynde, Liberace, Rip Taylor, Rip Torn, Rock Hudson, Little Richard, Tab Hunter, Montgomery Clift and many many more who were closeted publicly but out within the industry.
Are you serious? Richard Dawson on Hogan's Heroes, for one. Plus, the host of Family Fued. Steve Allen, the host of Tonight Show. Charles Nelson Reilly was a wonderful director. Fannie Flagg was on the early Candid Camera shows. Kaye Ballard, a wonderful actress in her own right.
well yes back then it was thought that the street Walker term was exclusively for women because that is what saw generally walking the streets with their half naked clothes.
I so LOVE Steve Allen!
From WML??
Rip Richard Dawson very good actor on hogan heroes
Steve Allen had the best answer on the Long John Silver question.
I was thinking Hook

Actually it was an old teacher of hers who saw her on Match Game and wrote he a letter
@@kristabrewer6736 Both, someone who was more of an expert narrowed down her specific problem.

I'll be that was a wedding party to remember.
Steve "is it bigger than a breadbox?" Allen.
Thank you, Kaye Ballard for breaking the Kaye Stevens curse.
Costumes was the first thing I thought of.
I thought of pajamas
@@MensAsses33 they showed up in their limos. second choice was pajamas.
Hey Steve Allen wild.
Too bad not many of his shows survived.
One of the few shows with no Super Match.
Amazing all the rounds of ties
15:43 Everybody up there said "eat" and everybody down there said "cook!"
I guess you can tell who work with who on their answers.. ;0)
You can tell the studio is different because the audience is not normally so close to the stage!
Wow I thought that tie breaker was stupid easy!
Panelists:
1. Steve Allen
2. Brett Somers
3. Charles Nelson Reilly
4. Fannie Flagg
5. Richard Dawson
6. Kaye Ballard
I hope this show wasn’t fake , I’ve seen many character actors as contestants.
They were probably trying to get in the business, and get their name and face out there.
Long John Silver answer obviously would've been fanny.
Using the studio used by Tattletales

TLDR
The black girl contestant was on sanford and son
He said, "Girls" and they matched "Street walkers"? That's general to specific and neglects male street walkers too. Sometimes the judges are completely arbitrary.
he said strolling girls which is same as streetwalkers.
So the judges are saying that girls and prostitutes are the same thing?
Ira was consistent at being inconsistent.
I can't believe they had 2 of the same questions back to back. "Yesterday" a ventriloquist had her voice coming out of her blank

I think the black girl was on an episode of Sanford and Son......
Kay Ballard was on the Muppet Show, but not Jo Anne Worley, yet I still manage to confuse the two.
So basically, this episode was just one game....
Not even one game! They started the show in the middle of round one, and by the time they were done, there was no time left for the Super Match! So, basically, what was a single game stretched out over three episodes!
Fannie had guts because her ortography was not too good.
Instead of "violins" I would said "tubas" or "trombones". Some sort of awkward musical instrument.
I would have said "cellos".
Grand pianos.
I thought of tubas right away.
Bagpipes was my answer.
YAYYY for 'Betty Jean'! I was really pulling for her!

Kaye Ballard wasn’t a lesbian according to her Wikipedia page and obituary.
Charles was married to a woman. Mrs. Reilly was a celebrity panelist on Match Game…although I say he might have been bisexual.
Gee, Kay was gay (?)

It was pretty average for 1974.
Streetwalkers can also be men. I guess that didn't occur to 1970s people.
