OMG, the memories of childhood and early adulthood this video brings back. I wish I could go back and reread my comics from the 70s and 80s but almost my entire collection was stolen and it would cost a ton of money to replace. If I were to hit the lottery, this is what I would spend a good chunk of change upon. I didn't know that some of my fave heroes were older than me! Looking forward to the next part.
I'd consider Superduperman, the MAD Magazine parody, for 1953. Alan Moore has cited it as an inspiration for Watchmen, and MAD eventually became a part of DC.
Just this list alone proved DC has a HUGE roster Would love to hear you list Heroes you never hear of or who had no real importance and if you think they are interesting enough to come back
Mal Duncan, wow, such a great memory. I was such a big fan of his from him just as himself, then Blue Guardian (Golden Guardian?) And even as Hornblower. I forget the order of hero identities after all these decades. I was so sure he was a rising star in DC and had my fingers crossed he'd mame it to his own solo series (as a back-up somewhere at the very least). And was imagining him with an actiom figure too. But then I also thought the Champions would outdo the Avengers and that the Titans would never get canceled, so what did I know?
I agree with your choices Black Lion. I like some of those characters as well but there is some that I never seen in live action or on animated shows so I don't know about some of those characters cause I don't read the comic books. There are two reasons I don't read the comic books: one is because I don't be having money to buy them and the second reason is because I don't know where a comic book store is at where I live.
I disagree with the robin over shazam pick. he was so loved that he sold more than superman. He sold so much that DC had to buy him just to make money.
Tough call! But, yes, Robin is a more well known character around the world and Captain Marvel can’t even use the original descriptor…Shazam shouldn’t be the name of the superhero, only the wizard’s name
I think monitor should of won tbh Terra is a character that only really pops up in teen titan adaptation’s and I believe isn’t in continuity atm in the main line comics. Where as the monitor recently just played a massive role and was constantly being redefined and adapted into games tv shows and animated movies
Fantastic job. One of the most indepth , monumental achievements in comics history. Had to watch twice 😝👌👍❤️ but how dare you mention Frankenstein and not black Adam. One of the most influential characters ever to come into existence from the mind of a madman. I also would ❤️ to see a timeline comparison video between competing marvel comics and DC as the two companies played off each other borrowing different elements to create similar character characteristics and plots. And I completely disagree with you on several of your choices for best character of a particular year. Especially the year that the omega men came out because Lobo was introduced. When it comes to 84' definitely not ' vibe' it would have to be blue devil or steel.
This is a fun video. I agree with most of your picks, but these are the ones I'd change: 1940: Shazam over Robin 1959: Supergirl over Green Lantern 1962: Matter Eater Lad over Ultraboy 1972: Jonah Hex over Swamp Thing 1982: The Monitor over Terra
Robin fundamentally changed superhero’s for ever were as Shazam was just a more interesting super man. Not to downplay the big red at all but I agree with robin. But I also think monitor was more important as well
Seeing this makes me realize that the Vigilante serial was a double shame; that they actually got the hero's look wrong (a fadora and not an actual classic cowboy hat during the height of Westerns?) and that his appearance(s?) didn't lead to a SSV movie/serial or at least chapter. I know they were mostly were c-listers, but they would've been easy to portray and, maybe with the exception of Star-Spangled Kid, would've fit right in with aoready common genres kids watched each week. Though they might have tweaked Crimson Avenger back to his Green Hornet-esque look, that would've just fine by me.
Can you do a video on Alex Danvers aka sentinel, she was a pretty good character. Her sisterhood with Kara was cute and fun at times, her weapons and fighting style are awesome. Her final costume is pretty neat (she gets me then eye pant as her hair style changes and has a blue streak in it. Plus she is rarely in public enough for her identity to be discovered. Also to be honest her hiding her secret identity is much better than her sister's. Oh and her hood to). I kinda hope she returns in another universe even if it's a cartoon. Plus she is one of my favorite lesbian superheroes because there is so much more to her than just being a lesbian (like her job, her relationship with her sister, and so much more to her.). Plus it would be interesting to see both sentinel and Supergirl join the legend of superheroes (mostly so Alex gets to see Kara develop a crush on brainiac 5). Oh and her superhero name just fits pretty well for her. friendly reminder her gun has multiple types of blasts and bullets. I do wish that the tech she uses to get her suit was Kryptonian instead of Martian (it would be more fitting if the tech was Kryptonian, especially considering her adopted sister is Kryptonian!)
i gotta disagree with 1962. matter eater lad is weirdly iconic and well known nowadays, even if it's just for stupid meme reasons. most people have no idea who ultra boy is
Because of the existence of other Earths, the DC multiverses, the variations of all the Heroes and Heroines seems confusing to me now…. Like the Arrowverse special a few years back where there were 3 different Supermen in that giant crossover….. Interesting video
@@Bxyxox Come to think about it, you're correct. He's even more important than Wonder Woman. Think about just how big the oceans of the world are. We're a water planet. His kingdom is literally most of the earth. Good relations with Atlantis is imperative. If it wasn't for Arthur, Atlantis would have went to all out war with the surface years ago. Arthur's brother is crazy.

as a big legion of super heroes fan i was so happy to see them included, great video!
I’m hyped part 2!

No part 2 ? If so are u gonna include the Man of Steels reboot , the Batman year 1, and so forth?
Almost all of these are self-explanatory, but I am curious why you chose Wildcat over Mary Marvel.
Great video!
Wildcat appears as a secondary character in more comics and adaptations.
The Monitor should have won 1982, can't lie.
Bro when’s the second part coming

Yeah but he was also not created by DC
Yea maybe in the past but now Robin is more more famous and definitely more iconic
But that popularity didn't stand with time. Robin is a much more recognizable and culturally important character through the decades.
@@seantime4655 but in the video he said he would still use characters that did not originate from dc

I was bery exited tomwatch part two, after this, only to find out that there is no part two.
you putting robin for 1940 made this video deserve a like for me nightwing better be 1984 as well 👀
love your videos
Could you do a continuation of what you would do if you were in charge of the DCU??🙏
Green Arrow is a close second, for 1941.
Aquaman too
Being someone who’s read dc for many years this needs work
you gonna also do this for villains?
Maybe sometime down the line
@@TheBlackLion001 when will you make part 2?
What about Dr. Occult, whom appeared before Superman. 1:21 1:23

Make marvel next. Nice video
Will you do a Marvel version
Darkseid left the chat for 1970
he said "only superheroes not included villains"

Maybe

Hi
Please make Arrowverse in DCEU structure.
The Most Iconic MARVEL Hero to Debut In Each Year
You forgot the debut of Lyta Trevor in 1983.
Can you do some new Arrowverse rankings please?

I think he’s probably waiting for Flash Season 9 to finish before he continues his rankings.

Deadpool debuted in 1991 aka my birth year!
This is a fun video. I agree with most of your picks, but these are the ones I'd change:
1940: Shazam over Robin
1959: Supergirl over Green Lantern
1962: Matter Eater Lad over Ultraboy
1972: Jonah Hex over Swamp Thing
1982: The Monitor over Terra
Robin fundamentally changed superhero’s for ever were as Shazam was just a more interesting super man. Not to downplay the big red at all but I agree with robin. But I also think monitor was more important as well
green lantern as made more merchandise and movies than supergirl and swamp thing is well known than jonah hex

Why would you not pick Black Adam for 1945 lol?
People is okay too be masculine it’s not okay to push your masculinity on someone else, just let people live their lives
