At 21:20 you mentioned Swamp Thing. There was aSwamp Thing movie in 1982, a sequel in 1989, and a tv series that ran from ‘89-‘92. Great video, not trying to be picky.
Had to pause on Zatana. You stated SV was her only live action appearance, but she was in Arrow. She was the one that connected Olly and John. Someone else has probably mentioned this as the video is 3 weeks old. But oh well, now back to the awesome video.
About Blue Beetle. I have a recording of a 1941 radio series of Blue Beetle, voiced by Frank Lovejoy, (at least for the beginning of the series. Due to movie commitments, he was replaced). So, the character has a MUCH longer live action gap than the ten years mentioned. Blue Beetle as a comic book started in 1939.
I was just about to ask that! Didn't The Blue Beetle debut in comics in 1939, and in live action (on television) on The Electric Company in 1974, as portrayed by Jim Boyd? I don't think he is counting radio programs as "Live Action" though, because there have been other radio programs that predated film and TV appearances, such as the Superman radio program which debuted in 1940, and the Batman radio show which debuted in 1942.
That was the original Blue Beetle, Dan Garrett who was a part of Fox comics until they went out of business in the 50s. Eventually Charlton Comics got the rights and replaced the character with Ted Kord in the 80s. The original Beetle was never on any DC Superhero team, which is why the live action gap in the vid is what it is.
@@tonygazso9027 Oh, I see. Thank you for the clarification. So, you are saying the first Blue Beetle is Dan Garrett, the second Blue Beetle is Ted Cord, and the third Blue Beetle is Jamie Reiss, but it is the Dan Garrett Blue Beetle who was featured in live action in the children's TV show. I remember Spiderman from Marvel was also featured on the same show. I admit I have never read a Blue Beetle comic book and did not know these were different characters, but I did remember the Blue Beetle from that TV show when I was a child.
@anonyarena The Electric Company Blue Beetle played by Jim Boyd is unrelated to any comics version (Dan Garrett, Ted Kord and Jaime Reyes). Fun Fact: Jim Boyd voiced Spider-Man on the Spidey Super Stories record album produced by Peter Pan Records (taking over for Danny Seagren who played Spider-Man on the show but never spoke and communicated with thought balloons to get kids to read). Skip Hinnant voiced his Fargo North Decoder character from The Electric Company on the album as well and was the voice of Fritz The Cat in Fritz The Cat (1972) and The Nine Lives Of Fritz The Cat (1974).
you forgot about Lobo. Lobo was also made his live-action appearance in Krypton season 2. Bat Man even had Lobo join the Justice League in Justice League vs Suicide Squad #6
Legends of the Superheroes was so bitter-sweet for me when it 1st aired; so awesome to finally get to see so many heroes live finally, especially with Adam West and Burt Ward validating it by reprising their roles. But the comedy of it (especially the second TV movie a year or so later) was so annoying to me and my buddies. At least if it'd been handled as well-balanced camp like the 60s Batman it would've still be really fun. So close and yet so far.
There was a 70's live action Aquaman movie. It was never released. Alamo Drafthouse shows entertaining videos before their movies. Before Justice League they showed clips from things including 70's DC toy commercials, an unlicensed 60's Philippino Batman movie and the Aquaman movie. It was hysterical. He used a starfish as a throwing star.
@@lukejones0826 I did some research and it turns out it was a student movie with a $10,000 budget that had DC's permission to be made. It's called Aquaman: The Cast of the Angler. It is on TH-cam. The intro is animated, but the "movie" is live action. The throwing star scene is at 15:25.
Aquaman: The Cast Of The Angler came out in 1984 and starred Gordon Goodman as Aquaman. I got a bootleg videotape of it at Jay & Silent Bob's Secret Stash before somebody complained that they were selling bootleg tapes and they had to stop selling them. I also got the 1991 Power Pack pilot, the 1997 Justice League Of America pilot with the 1967 Wonder Woman and Batgirl pilots and some episodes of Shazam! Curiously, The Aquaman tape said it was an unsold TV pilot but turned out to be a fan film.
The Ray first appeared as Langford "Happy" Terrril in Smash comics # 14 in 1940 by Quality Comic Company The Ray was on cover of Smash Comics #25 in 1941 he continued in comic until 1943.
I plan on getting the Shazam/Captain Marvel serials soon. I have the 2 Batman and the Blackhawk one. Then I go to the Complete George Reeves Superman TV Show.
Zatanna Zatara, Batgirl Barbara Gordon, Mary Marvel, and also Firestorm deserves their own Live Action DC Comics Media Entertainment's Superhero TV Series Shows solely on their Characters alone about themselves!
Yes with Hawkman and Stargirl , Sandman, Martian manhunter , and others called," The Justice Society Corp ," the Golden Age Superheroes comics 1950s and Smallville Superboy t.v. shows series.
To clear up about Black Canary: She originally was the Earth 2 Black Canary. When her Husband died, she left JSA to join the JLA. However, since time marches on and comic heroes don’t age: DC recognize that Black Canary would be in her 70s. So they made Black Canary as a legacy, from mother to daughter.
would love to see the In Animation list or the live Marvel list an other idea, a look at people who didn't appear in any thing just live action or who wouldn't appear in there own video and would need to go in to some other video
Video Idea: Every Avengers Member who had appeared in Live Action, sort of like the Ultimate Avengers Team. If there were any who had multiple appearances, then you pick the best version to represent them.
@@TheBlackLion001 so make the Ultimate Marvel Universe. You still use a lot of MCU versions but at the same time add some of the X-Men from the 2 timelines and the Fantastic Four.
@@TheBlackLion001 technically members of the xmen and fantastic four, and other groups have been members of the avengers so could be people mentioned and have the debate about who is the best version to be a part of the ultimate avengers team.
A lady magician appeared in with the six million dollar man or wonder woman TV series, this would be a rough version of Zatana.....and Wondergirl appearing in Wonder Woman
If memory serves, the lady magician you speak of from The Six Million Dollar Man was not a magician, she was a high school student with ESP named Audrey Moss (played by Robbie Lee) who helped Steve Austin as his magician's assistant to read the bad guys minds. She appeared in a couple of SMDM episodes (The E.S.P. Spy and Hocus- Pocus) but she has no connection to Zatanna and DC Comics. The Wonder Girl on Wonder Woman (played by Debra Winger) is named Drusilla, not Donna Troy who was a member of the Teen Titans not the JLA and even if she wasn't, the Wonder Woman stories featuring her were set in the 1940s which would make this Wonder Woman and Wonder Girl members of the JSA.
I thought Maxima appeared on Superboy (remember that show? Goddess, I'm old!). It turns out the character was "Neila". Same powers, motivations, origins; but "Neila"!
Great video, thanks. One correction in case nobody's pointed it out yet... The original Dr. Light was a recurring JLA villain since 1962, decades before he fought the Teen Titans for the first time so I'd say you've got that a bit backwards. He did wind up fighting the Titans but not until he'd finally given up on beating the JLA after many, many tries.
The Adventures of Captain Marvel movie serial is the only depiction of the Big Red Cheese that uses the name "Captain Marvel." After the debut of Marvel Comics, all "Captain Marvel" projects - and that is STILL his name! - must use the term Shazam!
I see. I thought you were referring to the character. You were referring to the title. The live-action 1970s television show WAS called Shazam! But Jackson Bostwick was "Captain Marvel" in that show.
@@james-russellgause4735 Yeah, no TV show can bear the name of "Captain Marvel" unless Marvel Comics is behind it. Only the serial, which predated when they first became Marvel Comics.
He was still called Captain Marvel for a while in DC Comics even though Marvel created Captain Mar-Vell in 1967. The first 14 issues of Shazam! had the tagline "The Original Captain Marvel" on the cover before they changed it to "The World's Mightiest Mortal" but they still called him Captain Mavel inside the comic pages. Freddy Freeman was still called Captain Marvel Jr. and Mary Batson was still called Mary Marvel on the inside, but on the covers they were called "The World's Mightiest Boy" and "The World's Mightiest Girl" or just "Junior" and " Mary" They also had Tall Billy, Fat Billy and Hill Billy also known as The Three Lieutenant Marvels who were also named Billy Batson and also had Captain Marvel's powers. Jackson Bostwick and John Davey were both credited as "Captain Marvel" on Shazam! Billy Batson, Mary Batson, Freddy Freeman and Uncle Dudley were called Captain Marvel, Mary Marvel, Captain Marvel Jr. and Uncle Marvel or The Marvel Family on The Kid Super Power Hour With Shazam! In 1981. DC was reprinting Captain Marvel stories from Fawcett Comics but had to switch the title to Shazam! to link it to the TV show but the Captain Marvel Jr., Mary Marvel, Marvel Family and Hoppy The Marvel Bunny logos were not changed. Tom Tyler played Captain Marvel in The Adventures Of Captain Marvel in 1941. Garrett Craig played Captain Marvel in the two Legends Of The Superheroes specials in 1979. Jackson Bostwick and John Davey played Captain Marvel from 1974 to 1977 (John Davey also played Cap in The Secrets Of Isis in 1975). John Valdetero played Captain Marvel in an episode of The Drew Carey Show in 2001. Captain Marvel has been voiced by Burr Middleton in The Kid Super Power Hour With Shazam! Rob and Chad Lowe on Young Justice And Jerry O'Connell on Justice League Unlimited There also was another Captain Marvel from another Comics company (Magazine Enterprises) who had the power to shoot his limbs off his body in 1966. The UK's Marvelman is also a rip-off of Captain Marvel who says the word "Kimota!" (Atomik spelled backwards) to change into Marvelman. His publishers were also forced to change his name to Miracleman and his sidekicks Young Marvelman, Kid Marvelman to Young Miracleman and Kid Miracleman because of Marvel's copyright which was not that strict in the 70s. Zachary Levi is the only one that they are trying to force everyone to call Shazam when that is the wizard's name that grants him his powers, even though the Billy Batson of the 70s (Michael Gray), actually calls him Captain Marvel in Fury Of The Gods. Captain Marvel was often referenced on M*A*S*H set in a time when he was owned by Fawcett Comics. And to make matters worse, they are presenting Carol Danvers (Brie Larsen) as Captain Mar-Vell who was originally the original Ms. Marvel while Captain Mar-Vell who was originally a male character who became trapped in The Negative Zone used to switch places with Rick Jones when they would slam the Nega Bands on their wrists together. Brie Larson isn't even the first actress to play Ms. Marvel (later Captain Marvel) either. An unknown actress first portrayed Ms. Marvel in a 1977 commercial for Six Flags Great Adventure. Fawcett Comics originally wanted to call him Captain Thunder. Maybe they should have went with that.
The show was called The Plastic Man Comedy Adventure Show in 1979 and became The Plastic Man / Baby Plas Super Comedy in 1980. Taylor Marks (Mark Taylor) played the live action Plastic Man.
Love this video, though I'm a bit confused. I haven't kept up with all the more modern variants of characters or the more recent DC TV shows and movies, so maybe the histories I'm thinking of are now irrelevant but... 1. You got Fire's debut right, she started as Green Fury in the Super Friends comic and similarly Ice started as Icemaiden in the same title, but you listed her debut as being much later. Though I vaguely remember reading that the first Ice was killed and replaced by a different character, so maybe the debut you listed is the second Ice? Still, I thought the original might have been worth mentioning. 2. You pronounced Aquaman's wife's name as Mehruh. But the character was prominently featured in Filmation's animated Aquaman TV series, and I'm pretty sure it was always pronounced Meeruh there,. And writers and editors at DC were listed in the credits of the show so I always thought that was the correct pronunciation. 3. Cyborg was a founding member of the NEW Teen Titans, not the Teen Titans. The founding members of the original Teen Titans were Robin, Kid Flash, Aqualad, Wonder Girl, and Speedy (though Speedy's inclusion was a retcon). I always considered the New Teen Titans to be just a continuation of the original team. 4. Wasn't there a short lived Birds of Prey TV series which featured the Huntress before the Helena Bertinelli debut you listed? Or was that Huntress a different character? Maybe that was Helena Wayne? 5. You mention the original Hawkgirl's (Shiera Sanders Hall) original comics debut, but she was only related to the All-Star Squadron and JSA, not really the JLA. It was the Silver Age Hawkgirl/Hawkwoman (Shayera Hol/Shiera Hall) who had the first and longest affiliation with the JLA. Kendra Sanders has been a member of both the JSA and JLA, but she was a different character from the Golden Age version (though maybe she's reincarnated from the same character, but that's confusing since I thought the Golden Age character would have had to have been alive and active when Kendra was born). Or were all versions of the character merged into one in the Rebirth? 6. I've never heard Neron's name spoken out loud before now, but I always thought the name was based on Nero, the mad Roman emperor from history, and whenever I've heard his name spoken out loud on TV or movies, it's pronounced Neeroh, so I always thought Neron would be similarly pronounced Neeron, not Nirron. But I could be wrong. The similarly named Captain Nemo from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and the Extraordinary Gentlemen was always pronounced Neemoh out loud, not Nehmoh, so that's something else that led me to think Neron (and Mera for that matter) would be pronounced with a long E sound. 7. I would say the original Dr. Light is pretty much equally a JLA and Teen Titans villain because he was originally an exclusive JLA villain. He first attacked the Teen Titans only as a means of using them to get revenge on their mentors in the JLA. When they beat him, he transferred his desire for revenge to them. But he had such a long history of fighting the JLA before that, I think it pretty much evens out.

you completely ignored Hunteess in the 1979 special…considering she was a huge property and reason for Black Canary being heavily used in the early 2000s it’s a major oversight
Hey, I thought I’d just comment to say I really enjoy your videos on the channel and I had an idea for a video that I think would be pretty cool for you to make maybe have entire infinity saga of the MCU but restructure it with only Bat family characters
I believe the Flash in the JLA pilot from 1997 is supposed to be Wally West, so that would be his live action debut and also that would free Wallace from the Flash as a separate character.
One character you forgot about was Plastic Man. He debuted in 1941, and appeared in live action in 1980, as part of live action intros and bumpers for the animated Plastic Man Comedy/Adventure Show. That’s a gap of 39 year gap. Also Connor Hawke debuted in 1994.
Movies about The Green Archer 1925, The Bat 1926, Chandu the Magician on radio in 1930 and film 1932, Return of Chandu 1933, The Shadow 1930 on radio, Flash Gordon comic strip in 1934 which also had Hawkmen in 1935, and villain with ice gun in 1939 and Flash Gordon in serial film in 1936, Mandarke the comic strip in 1934 and serial film in 1939 which also had Lothar with powers of super strength, super speed and invulnerable all predate the Justice Society of America and Justice League of America.
You forgot Mon-El who had a Recurring Role in the Second Season of Supergirl. And other Members of the Legion of Superheroes appeared in an episode of Smallville-Cosmic Boy, Saturn Girl, and Lightning Lad.
Great on you for including the late 70s TV stuff...proof that a lot of comic costumes just do NOT translate to live action!! But I thought Huntress was one of those...
Actuall7, in the 70's Darkseid started out as a villain of The New Gods! He didn't become a Superman villain until the late 80's after Crisis on Infinite Earths. You also forgot the 1950's Superman George Reeves!
There is one thing that kinda confuses me…. It’s Cyborg First he’s a member of the Teen Titans, Then switcho, changeo … He’s a member of the Justice League It’s probably two different Cyborgs from two different dimensions, or is it the same guy? Just something I noticed as I watched previews of the Justice League movie that came out it seems a million years ago….
Well technically Captain Marvel appeared in wades comics number two in1939. Also, the blue devil is the original daredevil from the 40s, so that one’s wrong too.

That's Guy Gardner? He looks like Kyle Rayner.
you forgot about Lobo. Lobo was also made his live-action appearance in Krypton season 2. Bat Man even had Lobo join the Justice League in Justice League vs Suicide Squad #6
actually huntress first debuted in birds of prey; before the arrow episode
So many of these are just random comic book names the show writers looked up and randomly assigned to people who are nothing like the source material.
A Very Comprehensive List!
Is there any way I’d be able to find this movie somewhere?
@@lukejones0826 I did some research and it turns out it was a student movie with a $10,000 budget that had DC's permission to be made. It's called Aquaman: The Cast of the Angler. It is on TH-cam. The intro is animated, but the "movie" is live action. The throwing star scene is at 15:25.
@@davidthierry4179 sweet, thanks!
Actually, the Huntress made her live action appearance in Legends of the Superheroes and then again in the short lived Birds of Prey TV show.
That’s a different Huntress (Helena Wayne), not Helena Bertinelli
Not including Doctor Fate? Wasn't he in Smallville?
Yes with Hawkman and Stargirl , Sandman, Martian manhunter , and others called," The Justice Society Corp ," the Golden Age Superheroes comics 1950s and Smallville Superboy t.v. shows series.
I'm watching the 1941 Captain Marvel series now!
Batman was multiple part serial films in 1943 had Batman, Robin and Alfred.
Great job man
To clear up about Black Canary: She originally was the Earth 2 Black Canary.
When her Husband died, she left JSA to join the JLA. However, since time marches on and comic heroes don’t age: DC recognize that Black Canary would be in her 70s. So they made Black Canary as a legacy, from mother to daughter.
would love to see the In Animation list or the live Marvel list
an other idea, a look at people who didn't appear in any thing just live action or who wouldn't appear in there own video and would need to go in to some other video
The 1979 JLA was hilarious, I really enjoyed it. 👍
The huntress made her live action debut in the TV series, birds of prey
Legends Of The Superheroes (1979) played by Barbara Joyce.
Video Idea: Every Avengers Member who had appeared in Live Action, sort of like the Ultimate Avengers Team. If there were any who had multiple appearances, then you pick the best version to represent them.
It would just be the MCU versions
Yeah, we already had the ultimate live action Avengers.
@@TheBlackLion001 so make the Ultimate Marvel Universe. You still use a lot of MCU versions but at the same time add some of the X-Men from the 2 timelines and the Fantastic Four.
@@TheBlackLion001 video idea : superman and lois season 2 review
You forgot birds of pray with bat girl and the hunteress
Now It's 2023 Lets see what this Year will Bring.
Birds of prey was a movie about Helicopter pilots in 1973.
You mentioned Legion of Doom being in the Super Friends if so what of Zan and Jaya the Wonder Twins appearing in Smallville.
If the Wonder Woman 5 minute concept/production counted shouldn't the earlier live action Aquaman pilot count?
Freddy Freeman was still called Captain Marvel Jr. and Mary Batson was still called Mary Marvel on the inside, but on the covers they were called "The World's Mightiest Boy" and "The World's Mightiest Girl" or just "Junior" and " Mary"
They also had Tall Billy, Fat Billy and Hill Billy also known as The Three Lieutenant Marvels who were also named Billy Batson and also had Captain Marvel's powers.
Jackson Bostwick and John Davey played Captain Marvel from 1974 to 1977
(John Davey also played Cap in The Secrets Of Isis in 1975).
John Valdetero played Captain Marvel in an episode of The Drew Carey Show in 2001.
Captain Marvel has been voiced by Burr Middleton in The Kid Super Power Hour With Shazam!
Rob and Chad Lowe on Young Justice
And Jerry O'Connell on Justice League Unlimited
There also was another Captain Marvel from another Comics company (Magazine Enterprises) who had the power to shoot his limbs off his body in 1966.
Are we sure it’s Guy from the Pilot? I read a few articles it was Kyle Rayner and even has his mask
What about Plastic man? He is a decent history of JLA membership and had live action clips on some Saturday morning show.
I think Fire and Ice appeared in earlier Super friends comics as Green Flame and Ice Maiden.
Yes, they did.
Fire was also known as Green Fury and also appeared in live action in Powerless (2017) played by Natalie Morales.
Video idea: Marvel if the CW had the rights to it, basically the Marvel equivalent of each show and crossover
Charlton comics company had Blue Beetle in 1939. Although a different version of character.
That was Fox Publications. Charlton didn't begin publishing Blue Beetle stories until 1954.

That was Barry Allen.
Huntress debuted in 1979 in Legends of the Superheroes. You actually showed her in a picture. She was played by Barbara Joyce.
That’s a different Huntress (Helena Wayne), not Helena Bertinelli
I just realized what if Diana Drake is a ancestor of Tim Drake.Just found that interesting.

I would personally put them with there origin team of Legion of Super-Heroes (31st century) than JLA
I think you forgot Darkseid, a Superman/Justice League villain who made his live-action debut in 2021's "Zack Snyder's Justice League".
Great on you for including the late 70s TV stuff...proof that a lot of comic costumes just do NOT translate to live action!! But I thought Huntress was one of those...
The Huntress in that special is Helena Wayne, from Earth-2, so that's JSA Huntress
