I've never heard of this place but I'm a big historic preservationist and this breaks my heart I'm so sorry to everyone who had this beautiful place as a part of their community. It's scary how easily an old home like this can go up in flames
Hotel St Francis and the 1906 hospital in Susanville were both destroyed by arson. No fire alarms no watchmen. Just left vulnerable to arsonists. Plus near Chico arson caused Park fire. And nearby arson caused Thompson Fire a couple years back.
Many wealthy people build mansions. Will all of those mansions become historic memorials? How extravagant does a building need to be to become a historic memorial?
no way this was a monument to the enslavement and death to native people Bidwell was directly involved in the killing and enslavement of native people in his time
Always trying to keep the past alive when it is dead wasting so much of your time trying to live the life of the Dead instead of focusing on today and living your own life no need to look to the Future today may be all you have don't waste it on the Dead
I got to tour the home about 30 yrs ago. It had the first flush tolite in California. What a great history it had

Very sad😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
There’s a guy in France who is restoring a burned out chateau that was destroyed worse than this. Nothing is impossible! Don’t raze it, please!
State of California is broke
Just like the Hotel Marysville it to is unsafe to go into. And highway 70 is still messed up.
I lived in Marysville years and years ago raise my children there and I got to tour Hotel Marysville I really love the architecture inside
This is sad to hear when I was in my 30s I was living in Chico and went through Bidwell Mansion on a tour

It will never be the same as the original. I've visited many reconstructed buildings like this, and it just doesn't have the same feel
