I DON’T WANT THIS TO END!!! I had no idea that this existed, as I’ve scoured the internet looking for anything on our beloved Leon. He’s a national treasure who is sorely missed by many people. He represents an era that we will never get back again. And yes, his hands were remarkable.
Saw him a few times. He was one of the best musicians ever. He could play about any instrument. I met him once and had only a bandanna and he autographed it for me
As a kid born with congenital hip dysplasia I 100% understand the you deal with what you dealt! My folks never treated me differently! I was an ice skater for Pete's sake and good at jumps & spins! Made me strong for this adulting crap!
Leon influenced me from 1970 onward as a self taught piano player, I would match play all his records and after 3 years I could play his style of piano quite well
It was a different time with the Great Depression still on everyone's mind. Young girls got married and raised families. It is still happening in the world today.
Everyone take notice: The Lord has a hand in everything, it is His plan ......He gave Leon that birth defect so that Leon would use the piano to overcome and Leon gave us the benefit of his talent. GOD IS GOOD.
Oh man, you should have put 3:19 in the doc. Haha. Just kidding of course. But it certainly helps understand how much nonsense is pushed out of the music machines. It’s so easy to look back and say the music back then was better. It may be, but I’d argue that generally it’s just the good stuff endures.
Wrong, it wasn't Lewis marrying his cousin they didn't like. That was commonplace over there. What they didn't like was she was 13. Could also be called kettle/black. But it IS sick. Love Leon Russell. He was a musicians musician.

Absolute Legend
R.I.P.
I was never able to see him but I will never stop listening to him.
"Sinatra said he'd sing A Song For You if I played the piano, but he had so many state patrolmen around him, it scared the shit out of me."

Leon Russell is an American treasure. I got to see him a few times live at a small concert hall near my home in SoCal. I cherish those concerts.
We were able to see him twice in a really intimate venue in my town. He was amazing. Many years ago .

RIP Leon
I saw him at a Willie Nelson picnic in the 1980s
‘He got kicked out of England for marrying his cousin. They didn’t like that’.
Failed to mention that she was 13 years old at the time.
Loretta Lynn was pregnant at that age and went cross country all by herself on the train. And married at 13 also.
@@jayjaynella4539 I guess that makes it okay
That is sick
In Arkansas that would be an "old maid".

Playing the Hand that I Got I'd love to have heard THAT album ...... if it only existed! Why would Jerry Lee need to hire him, another piano player?

Censor "bullshit" but keep "...Scared the shit outa me..."
Mount juliet home
You would think he could have afforded a razor.
He gave it to Bob Dylan, but he never used it.
You are one rude son of a wart.
He liked it that way.
