On Supermicros... If you upgrade the BIOS, you also need to upgrade the IPMI firmware. Otherwise these two don't work together. With the particular BIOS version download, there should also be a matching IPMI firmware download (or a bundle file). I made somewhat the same thing once, with the difference that I upgraded the IPMI firmware first and then couldn't get any status from the M/B in it. Then upgraded the BIOS and everything worked fine again.
I have a couple boards that may or may not be fully updated, can you do a quick video on the setup of the "bios/ipmi update thumbdrive"? Is it as simple as unzipping the download onto the drive, or do you have to run a program to "format" the drive to work? My boards web page has a "update your bios" tab and a "backup firmware" tab and both say bios/bmc/bundle firmware for (my board name)" but they show different revisions, do I only need 1 to update both, if so which one, or do I need both? My boards are 2@x10dri-t4+ and a x10srl-f.
