Yeah unfortunately, and it’s all because executives want to replace artist and animators for AI because “AI’s more technologically advance” and I hate AI for that. AI can be a good tool for helping certain parts of animation to look better, but it can’t replace some people’s job. That is why we need an artist and animators strike now so that they can get better pay and to show off more of their creative animation styles that’s not hyper realistic AI shit.
He has been hired on the Dune movies among other stuff too. Right now however the industry is experiencing the dark ages for two reasons. Reason 1: Poor Ceo management of funds. Companies overspend on movies and series (like 100-200 mil) meaning that even if a medium becomes smashing success it can still go out business (Example is Tangowork studios that was close down by Microsoft after a very successful game they made that even won awards. Best case scenario the studio closes after a success, worst scenario and most common it makes nearly nothing back in revenue and the company is minus 40-120 mil. Their solution to this is not to fire the person managing money so carelessly but to fire the artists who are the backbone of those movies / series / games and put up the most work. Reason 2: There is a gigantic rat race with AI right now, every company wants to perfect "the definitive AI" that will replace a department group, primarily the VFX artist department. There are speculations about the animation industry as well but the first casualty is most likely going to be the vfx industry. These two reasons happen right now at the same time and as you guessed reason 1 with reason 2 synergize as higher ups see the artists as the main financial problem to why their media is not doing well. "Godzilla Minus One" is a great example of proper funding use as the movie had 15 mil overall budget for the movie, blew out every other Godzilla movie out of the water, is the highest rated and considered the best Godzilla movie ever made and is the first ever Godzilla film to win an Oscar.
I love how many times we go to the next level. And it is funny how many times you say it, but it really is true. Every time you did something to bring the render "to the next level," I was like "oh wow, I guess we really did take it to the next level"
Im getting ambitious - Im VERY beginner level in Blender and I'm newly installing Unreal, but I saw this and now I feel motivated to make a Godzilla animation LMAO
this is soo amazing!! but do you really want use to compare that to the film visuals?? The film visuals were so realistic!! this can make up for the great in-game visuals but movie realism is on another level!!
A game like this would be phenominal. sadly, there are only a few modern games allowing to play as godzilla on PC, most of them only have mods which add godzilla. Dedicated kaiju brawlers arerarity, like Gigabash.
It wouldn’t look anything like the render… games have to run realtime. It would look so bad that you won’t bother buying it at all. This is extremely difficult unless you want everything to be pre-rendered and scripted at which point it’s not a game but a fancy cutscene
To people who don't know why watching this might create misconceptions, the reason why his VFX looks good and does work is because we are using either only our regular laptop screens or mobile phones to view these scenes in 8bit color. But if you view this work in a larger Screen it will show the flaws and bad details specially in IMAX screen that uses 16bit color that's why Double Negative and other effects house need thousands of artist to detail these shots in high spec computers.
yeah its okay to use 1 or 2 scene with planar building but i think godzilla film way to complex with asset building where is needed from every angle itself so they create 3D Asset building in order to could shoot scene from everywhere they want ,good job you make it awesome its the right way to make 1-2 scene film
This is really amazing, and I enjoyed every second of it, but it bothers me A LOT that you used WWI biplanes with helis (that didn't exist at the time) in a city apparently from the 60's onward. What were you aiming for?
You should’ve done jets instead of biplanes because if they have helicopters then they’d probably use jets to but good job I could never do anything like that
You don't need million dollar budgets... ...Just maaaybe a few thousand though, because someone's gotta pay that modeler and that character rigger. It's a stretch that they'll do that for free for everyone.
@MMDCharizard have been doing it for free to MMD animator since 10 years ago, his rig even have a very high quality, MMD is not exactly a high end animating software but we are talking about character rigger here, we did should pay if we commission him though but still
Came out great. When rendering from Unreal, do you export and render the frames with the real time engine or do you export them with the path tracer because you are not making a game? I always wanted to know that. What do most people do?
I don't pathtrace, I prefer to work in real-time the whole time so that you can rely on those super fast render times. Totally depends on the project, but many people path trace, but it sort of defeats the purpose imo.
Dude this was amazing I’m creating my own Godzilla short on unreal and need some help animating I have never used unreal so I need someone who is pretty good at animating on unreal I have a model and everything just need some animation help

Heyy Josh~ Love your videoss. I would love to know the types of movies in set where you used unreal engine :)) PLease share us some knowledge about working on set using a game engine (Whch definitely dosent sound suitable for cinematics since its game engine)
This is awesome. Can you believe that UE5 is free? Crazy world we live in. I do realize they will take 5% of your profits if your project makes at least 1 million dollars. At that point I don't think abyone would care though lol.
I think you need to do this again as I don't see it as a way that someone new to this could realistically follow and complete. this inspires no confidence and so far has just intimidated me. You are already a successful vfx artist who worked on the ACTUAL God zilla movie and still you needed the help of 3 other people to complete this project. I am not sure really who this video is for because not a chance one person will be able to do this on their own in the same time frame as you. You don't mention the price of the assets so this while nice to watch I just felt let down and demotivated at the end of it.
shout out to the person that made the godzilla model, that shii is clean
Agreed :D
that model is also available on maya's official website
I want GODZILLA shorts with AMAZING graphics made by people using UNREAL ENGINE 5, who are paid more to work less, *AND I'M NOT KIDDING!*
Awesome work on this Josh!
Brooo THE SHOT WHEN THERE SHOOTING HIS FACE IS SOOO REALISTIC!!!!!!!!
It was UNREAL :)
That's... THAT'S... *THAT'S UNREAL!!* 😮😲🫨🤯
It was awesome to watch this Live and see you explain the process in detail!
Shout out to the dude crazy enough to take on godzilla in a biplane.
That animation is incredible 🎉
That last shot was amazing
I like how he makes this look relatively easy but anyone who has ever created something from scratch knows this is complicated still lol.
Hey Josh, amazing job in this project! How long did it take you from the beginning to the completion of this project?
I think Godzilla minus one also proved that . Awesome job btw .
How has no one hired you as a VFX artist? You did a phenomenal job in fact I think you did so good you deserve an Oscar.
There is not much stuff right now due to strikes 😢 many talented people like him jobless

This why I love playing around with 3d programs u can create things like this
I have to question Hollywood after his mention to the lighting at home vs a theater... I stopped watching movies because they ARE too dark to see!
Crazy! Thank you for taking a look at this amazing piece of work. There's a lot to learn from your videos.

Can you demonstrate how to use meta humans? Specifically facial expressions for a film?

Hold on, Is it a copyright problem when you took the big Tokyo images into your project?
